Chapter 168 A Lot Of Work

"That's why you were smiling like that." The goalkeeper said.

"Yeah." She said with a smug look on her face. "You're really terrible at this, I expected a little competition."

<You have once again brought shame to Barcelona's name>

'I didn't expect her to be just as good as Mateo, she's even better than Mateo.'

"So, do you want to go another round?"

"With you? Hell no." The goalkeeper said before getting up from the couch. "You can play with Clark or Emilia."

"I'm not in the mood for video games," Clark said abruptly.

"I don't even know how to play with a play station," Emilia said.

Dave used the opportunity to slip off making his way toward the staircase.

"Where are you going, babe? I thought you were going to destroy me."

"Yeah, and you ended up being the one to destroy me." He said before quickly making his way up the staircase. "I'll be back!"

The four did a lot of fun things together and with evening approaching now it was time for Emilia to go, she was the only one who wasn't living in the city so she had to go before it got dark, Clark was the one who had to see her off.

"So, when are you going to be here again?" He asked as soon as they stepped outside.

"Do you mean when I'm going to come see Emma again?" She asked.

"Yeah." He said with a nod. "You'll come visit me whenever you come to visit her right?"

"I thought you weren't always here, you live and work at Frono, right? That's what you told me."

"Yeah but I visit home from time to time but you're welcome to visit me at Frono if you want to."

"Uh....I don't think I can." She said, shaking her head.

"I know because of work and everything but that's okay, I didn't mean it."

"Okay, I should get going then."

"Goodbye then, it was really nice meeting you today."

"It was nice meeting you too." She smiled at him before she turned and began to walk out of the area.

He watched her with a smile on his face until she was out of sight before he turned and opened the door.

"The last time I saw you smile like this was when Amy said yes to being your girlfriend."

He quickly turned to where he heard the voice come from to see Dave sitting on one of the seats in the dining space.

"What do you mean?" Clark said as the smile on his face suddenly disappeared.

"Who's Amy?" Emma came out from the kitchen to ask.

"His first girlfriend," Dave answered.

"Oh."

"Told him she wasn't worth the trouble but he had to find out the hard way." The goalkeeper said.

"What happened?" Emma asked.

"I don't think Clark will want me to tell you about that, if you want to know, you'll have to hear it from him."

After hearing that from Dave, she slowly turned her gaze to Clark.

"Clark."

"No." He said before he began to walk toward the couch.

He spent about one more hour with the couple before he had to leave and now the two were alone in the house.

Dave was sitting in the living room with his gaze on the television but he wasn't really paying attention to it.

'I wish I could go outside now and test out that ball blaster.'

<I thought it was hyper ball blaster now>

'Yeah, that.'

<Calm down, you don't have anything to do while you're off-season, you can test it out all day if you want to>

'Yeah, I guess you're right.'

He had a lot of things going through his mind, especially about how next season was going to play out for him and the team.

He seemed to be too engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't know when Emma got to him and was snuggling against his body now.

"Hey." He smiled before putting his arm around her.

"I guess everything played out fine in the end." She said.

"Yeah, I guess so." He said.

There was a little moment of silence between the two before Dave decided to say something.

"It's nice that you don't have to work this week and spend a little more time with me."

"Yeah, I like it too." She said before raising her head to look at him.

He knew what she wanted and pulled her closer to kiss her.

"You know we haven't really talked about our plans since the night you proposed to me." She said,

"You mean getting married?"

"Yeah." She said with a nod.

"I've been thinking about it too but I want to hear your thoughts on it, when do you think will be the best time?"

"I don't know, it depends on when you're comfortable to have it but personally I would say that it will be best to get it over with before the season starts so that it won't linger in your mind every day when you're supposed to focus on your matches." She replied.

<Good answer>

"It's great how our thoughts are in line with each other most of the time, so how about next month?"

"Next month when?"

"I think it will be your job to come up with the date but before that, we have a lot of work to don't we?"

"Yeah, a lot of work for me especially."

Inside Tom Richard's mansion in a special part of Unique City that didn't have many buildings surrounding the area, the man could be seen in his room, well the room was dark with the only source of light coming from the moon through the glass door.

Through the gloominess, Tom could be seen holding a phone against his ear and seemed to be in a serious conversation with someone over the phone.

"Okay, Mr. Johnson I understand, I'll think about it and get back to you." He said before putting the phone down.

After ending the call, he let out a deep sigh before getting up from his bed to look out through the glass door.

The sky was filled with stars that night so it was a very nice view even from down there.

"Just two seasons ago nobody wanted him even for a loan transfer, that's why I had to keep him and send out Anderson instead to be able to clear the club's bills, it turns out becoming a starter was the push he needed." He muttered.

'Now a lot of clubs are coming after him and they are not just any clubs, top European clubs, this would be really good if it was another player but he doesn't want to leave yet and he'll be out of contract after next season but anyway.' He said subconsciously. 'I still have players like Mateo Smith, very soon the top clubs will start coming after him after his market value has gone up as I expect it to, selling him then will generate a good amount of revenue for the club.'

"I had never been happy for him my whole life but I'm happy that he has started taking a few steps toward making his name known in the football world."
