Chapter 141 Unusual Quest

As soon as Dave stepped out of the airport, he turned to the side to see Clark relaxing on the wall with both of his hands in his pockets.

"Over here." He said as soon as he spotted the goalkeeper.

Dave didn't say anything as he slowly walked to him.

"When did you get here?" Dave asked as soon as he got closer to him.

"About three hours ago," Clark said.

"Oh, so you left super early." The goalkeeper said.

"Yeah," Clark said with a nod. "How're you doing?"

"I'm okay, you?"

"I'm good and Emma?"

"She's fine too."

"Okay."

"So how are we going to get there? Which way is it by the way?" Dave asked, looking around the area.

"Don't worry, our ride will be here anytime soon," Clark said.

"Okay," Dave said.

[ Quest received ]

[ Get to the footy wears company building by foot ]

[ Rewards ]

[ +70 exp ]

[ +2 skill upgrade points ]

[ +1 skill points ]

'What the heck is a skill upgrade point?'

<Can't you figure that out by the name?>

'Yeah, but it would be nice if I got the details of how it worked.'

<Okay, the skill upgrade points allow you to level up your skills in a faster way, normally your skills gain upgrade points the more you use them but those upgrade points are very small, which is why it takes a very long time for your skills to level up just from using them>

'So, you're saying that with these skill upgrade points I can make any of my skills level up faster?'

<Exactly>

'Then I have to get the upgrade points and test them out for myself.'

"That's our ride," Clark said as soon as a black can pulled up beside them. "Let's go, Dave."

"Um….Clark, wait." Dave said before he could get to the cab.

"Huh?" Clark said, turning his gaze to the goalkeeper.

"What time is the appointment?" He asked.

"2:00 PM but we have to be there before then," Clark said.

"Okay, the time is 11:50 AM now," Dave said after raising his watch to his view to check the time. "Which means that if we walk from here to there, we'll be there before 2:00 PM."

"You want us to walk from here to there?" Clark said with a confused expression on his face.

"Yeah," Dave said.

"But it's too far to walk," Clark said.

"Don't be silly, it's just twelve kilometers."

"Just twelve kilometers?" Clark said. "How did you even know that it was just twelve kilometers?"

"Um…. google map," Dave said, scratching the back of his head with an awkward smile on his face.

"Why do you even want to walk? Going with the cab will be way faster and we won't have to break a sweat?" Clark said before looking up at the sky which was slowly starting to get covered with dark clouds. "And the clouds are getting heavy, we'll be screwed if it starts raining with us still on the road with no cabs around."

Dave didn't reply immediately as he slowly raised his gaze to look at the clouds before slowly turning it back to Clark.

"You know you can go ahead and get on the cab, I'll catch up with you there." He said.

'What is wrong with him?!' Clark screamed inwardly.

"Dave."

"We're wasting more time the more we stand here talking," Dave said before he started to walk off toward the area.

"Dave," Clark muttered before turning his gaze to the cab which was still waiting for them.

He walked to the cab and whispered something to the cab driver before he turned and quickly began to run after Dave.

"Hey, Dave, wait up!" He yelled.

"Huh?" Dave said before turning back to see him heading toward him.

He stopped and waited for him to get closer and it didn't take long for him to get closer. His breathing was a little paced now after that little run.

"I'm coming with you." He said.

"Oh, so you decided to join in on the fun," Dave said before putting his arms around his shoulders.

"I'm just doing this to make sure that you don't get lost in this big city," Clark said.

"That's very funny but you are aware that I have google maps on my phone right?"

"Let's just get going."

<I guess you managed to convince him>

The two had been walking for about twenty minutes and Dave didn't even have any idea of how far they had gone so far.

'If only I had my fitness watch with me here.' Dave said subconsciously.

<You know you can check your progress through the system right?>

'Really? How?'

<The quest tab>

[ Ongoing quest ]

[ Get to the footy wears company building by foot ]

[ Distance to be covered: 12 kilometers ]

[ Progress: 1.5 kilometers covered ]

'Oh, we still have a lot of distance to cover.' Dave said subconsciously before checking his watch to see that the time was 12:07 PM now. 'But we can still get there on time if we just increase our pace a little bit.'

<Yeah, you guys are walking slowly>

"Um…Dave, you asked me for proposal tips last week." Clark said.

"Yeah, what about it?" Dave said.

"You said you were going to propose to her this week, have you done it?" Clark asked.

"If you were told to guess, what would you say?" The goalkeeper asked.

"I don't know, I'm not really good at guessing but you don't look that happy so I'm going to say no."

After hearing that, Dave let out a little chuckle which caused Clark to get a little confused.

"What's funny?"

"I did it last night, that's what's funny." Dave said.

"You did it?" Clark said with a surprised expression on her face. "Which spot did you pick?"

"The tower near the coast," Dave replied. "We went to the highest point."

"Wow, that's a very nice spot."

"Yeah, she loved it." The goalkeeper said.

"So, you guys are engaged now, I'm happy for you, congrats." He said with a bright smile on his face.

"Thank you."

There were a few seconds of silence between the two as they continued walking down the road.

"Um…Clark." Dave called.

"Yeah."

"How about we step up the pace a little bit?" The goalkeeper suggested.

"Okay," Clark said before the two quickly stepped up their pace.

[ Progress: 7 kilometers covered ]

The two had been walking for quite a while now and their legs were beginning to get a little tired now.

"This doesn't feel like it's going to ever end," Clark said.

"Don't give up yet, we have six kilometers left," Dave said.

"Okay, but we should look for a place to grab a drink, I'm thirsty," Clark said.

"Okay," Dave said.

The two walked to the closest shop in the area to get some fluid in their system.

Clark wanted to rest for a few minutes but Dave didn't approve and quickly pulled him back to the road along with him.

"You know in the future when you become a very popular footballer, you won't be able to do something like walking twelve kilometers on the road, you may have the strength to do it but you will be clobbered before you can get anywhere," Clark said.

<He's right>

'Yeah.'

<He really believes that you can be a very popular footballer one day>

"I know, Clark but that time isn't here yet so I'm going to make good use of it."

Just as he took one step forward, he felt a drop of water drop on his forehead and it didn't take long before another one dropped on his shoulder.

He slowly looked up to see that the sky was completely dark now and raindrops were starting to fall little by little.

"Uh oh," Clark said with a horrid look on his face.

<That's what I would say>
