Chapter 126 Match Test

The sky was dark with the only little source of light coming from the half-moon in the sky.

Emma let out a sigh as she stood in front of the door, she checked her watch to see that the time was 8:30 PM before slowly pushing the door open to discover that the light in the area was turned off meaning that the whole place was dark and there was no way for her to see.

"What is going on?" She muttered looking around in the dark. "And what is that nice smell?"

"Watch your step." She heard Dave say before the lights were immediately turned on.

She felt the effect of the sudden surge of light in her retina as she quickly covered her eyes before opening them to see Dave standing beside the light switch on the wall beside the staircase.

"Dave." She said with a relieved tone before turning her gaze to the side to see that the table was properly set up with flowers and dishes and that scent she had picked up earlier was the scent of one of her favorite dishes. "What's this?"

"Surprise," Dave said, walking closer to her with a bright smile on her face.

"Surprise?" Emma said with a confused expression on her face.

"Yeah," Dave replied, smiling at her.

'He's actually smiling at me for the first time since today.'

"What's the occasion?" She asked.

"Nothing, I just wanted to surprise you with a nice dinner." He said before grabbing her by her arms and pulling her closer to the table.

"Is that chicken soup?"

"Yeah," Dave said with a nod.

"Wow, you made it yourself?"

"Yeah."

"I thought you weren't in a good mood today." She said.

There was a moment of silence between the two after she said that.

"You're right, I wasn't in a good mood today mainly because of what happened last night but I shouldn't have treated you the way I did today."

<You didn't even do anything that bad or else she would have been crying when she entered the house>

"I'm sorry, the fact that you're somebody I can fully trust and rely on is one of the reasons why I am grateful to have you in my life."

"Oh….Dave." She said with a sweet voice before stepping closer to him and wrapping her arms around him in a hug. "You don't have to apologize for anything, seeing you mad at me for the first time was a bit scary but you're sort of cute when you're mad."

"I wasn't mad at you, you wouldn't be saying this if I was really mad at you," Dave said after pulling out from the hug.

"Really? The fact that you haven't kissed me today says otherwise." She said,

"We'll, today hasn't ended yet, has it?" He said before pulling her closer to his body for a kiss. "There you go, now let's sit down and eat."

Emma smiled at him before taking her seat close to the bowl of chicken soup.

"This smells nice, I wonder if it's going to taste as nice as it smells." She said with her gaze on the dish.

"Why don't you grab a spoon and see for yourself?" Dave said.

She didn't say anything as she picked up a spoon, took a spoon of the chicken soup, and put it in her mouth with the look on her face before she put the spoon in her mouth indicating that she was expecting it to taste bad but as soon as the soup hit her taste buds, her face immediately lit up.

"Wooah, did you make this?"

<Did she forget that you just told her that you did?>

"Yeah, are you surprised?"

"Yeah, it's so good, better than most of the ones I've had before." She said before going for another spoon.

"Better than your mom's," Dave said.

As soon as she heard him say that, she dropped the spoon before slowly turning her gaze to him with a grim expression on her face.

"No." She stated bluntly.

________ ________

Just five minutes into his sleep, the goalkeeper found himself in the endless white space.

He had decided to turn on his dream control feature today as he wanted to test out something before the match tomorrow.

"Hello, Dave," Catherine said as soon as she appeared in front of him. "For today's training…"

"No, Catherine, I'm in charge today, that's why I turned on the feature," Dave said, cutting her short.

"What do you want to do?" She asked.

"A match with Lesica United without Mateo." He said.

"You want to see what the match will be like without Mateo?" She said,

"Yeah, can you help me do it because I'm not sure I can get everything right down to every detail?"

"Let's see," Catherine said before the whole area began to change until it had turned into the Wondanimo stadium after that, the fans began to fill up the stands, and right after that, the players began to fill up the pitch in their various positions.

He felt a chill run down his spine on spotting Okafor and just like he wanted, Mateo was not on the pitch with Ina Shaw filling up his position.

"And they are going to play like the real players would right?" Dave said.

'Well, I don't have a proper evaluation of how the players from Lesica United play but they will play like real players in a team especially Okafor so watch out for him.' Catherine said in his mind.

The match kicked off as soon as Dave wanted it and for the first five minutes, Unique FC dominated the game in terms of ball possession without really doing anything reasonable attack-wise but when Lesica United got possession of the ball from a failed shot attempt, all hell broke loose.

The player did a quick step over to get past Ferran before quickly sending the ball to the right winger who didn't have any problem getting past Edward and was racing down the side now.

"Are you still restricting my skills?" Dave asked.

'Well, this is your training idea, not mine so, no, they're going to work as long as you want them to.'

"Okay."

The winger got closer to Ronald and after trying to confuse him with some quick leg overs, he cut the ball back to Okafor who got past Adolf with a nutmeg and was through on goal now from outside the box.

The striker was never hesitant to shoot from outside the box as he sent the ball flying toward the top right side of Dave's goalpost.

[ Ball magnet activated ]

Dave quickly dived toward the ball expecting his ball magnet to make it easier for him to push out but the power behind the shot was just too much for his level one ball magnet as the ball smashed past the tip of his gloves and fell into the back of the net.

"I was so close to making that save," Dave muttered after crashing to the floor.

'Well, that's a bummer.'
