Chapter 98 Hectic Day

"You're just lucky this is your first time." Mateo patted him on his back before walking off toward the car.

"Or else it would have been a month's fine of fifty Euros every day." He muttered before heading off toward his car.

'I thought I was supposed to be getting ten exps for completing training sessions now?'

<You joined the training session very late, if you had arrived on time, you would have gotten the reward, that's your punishment for arriving>

"I've been getting punished in a lot of different ways since today." He muttered before letting out a deep sigh.

He unlocked the car with his car keys and opened the door before checking his watch to see that the time was 6:22 PM.

He arrived home after a few minutes drive and after getting down from his car, he checked his watch to see that the time was 6:31 PM.

'Emma's not going to be home until eleven so it's going to be another lonely night for me in a long time.' He said subconsciously as he made his way to the door.

He unlocked the door with his keys and opened it to find Emma in the living room.

She was sitting on the couch with the necklace Dave gave her in her hands.

"Hey." She turned to him and said as soon as he entered the house.

"Hey, I thought you were supposed to be at Spree for the match tonight," Dave said, moving closer to her.

He was really surprised to see her there.

"Yeah, but that's not going to work anymore." She replied with her gaze still on the necklace she was holding.

"Why not?" Dave asked before sitting down beside her on the couch.

"I don't feel like going anymore."

"Why?" Dave asked, moving his face closer to hers, he could tell she was upset about something.

There was no response from her as she kept rolling the blue crystal in the necklace around in her hands.

"Hey," Dave said before gently grabbing her jaw and turning her face to his. "You know you can tell me anything right?"

She stared at him for a while before bringing her gaze down in a way that made him remove his hand from her jaw.

"Can you promise something?" She asked before raising her gaze to look at him.

"As long as it's reasonable, sure." He said with a shrug.

"Okay, if at any point in your career, you start declining in performance like every player does or you have a terrible performance and then you come home and sees an article focusing mainly on bantering how poor your performance was or has been and then you find out that it was written by me promise me that you won't feel mad about or let it affect you in any negative way."

"Is that why your mood is like this?" Dave said before slapping his right palm into his face and letting out a little laughter.

"I'm talking about something serious here." She grumbled.

"Sorry, it's just that you never cease to amuse me in your little ways." He said. "Of course, I know the implications of your job and I know you have to write based on what you see, honestly I wouldn't be mad if you write something like that about me, as long as it's just talking about how bad I really performed then it's okay, I started receiving banterings from the media from the first day I played a full ninety minutes from Unique FC.

"Just don't let them draw you into their corruption and strategies of using popular players to make money."

"So you won't feel bad if I banter you in an article?" Emma said ignoring the last sentence he made.

"I know you would never banter on me no matter how bad I perform so it's nothing to feel bad about, it's your job anyway and I'm starting to get used to banterings." He replied.

"Thanks, babe." She said,

"Something like this shouldn't cause a smile drought your face." He said before using his hand to draw her lips wide to create a smile on her face and just as he removed his hands from her face, she was already smiling for real.

"You're the best." She said before wrapping her arms around him.

"You too." He muttered.

"So how was training today?" She asked, staring directly into his eyes.

"Short but fun."

"Oh, a short training session." She said,

"No, I arrived really late, an hour plus."

"An hour plus?" She said with a surprised look on her face. "What were you doing?"

"Sleeping."

"Sleeping? We slept early last night and I found you sleeping on the lawn before leaving for work. What is going on with you? I can't believe you fell asleep again."

"Today was quite hectic in a lot of ways but I'm glad I managed to pull through. You may not know it but coming home to find you here while you're supposed to be at Spree is quite the compensation for all I've been through today." He said.

"What have you been through today?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He said.

"Just tell me, we can work on the believing part after that." She said,

"No, you would never believe it."

She was about to say something before he quickly pressed his lips against hers causing her to swallow her words.

The two were locked in a passionate kiss as she caressed his chest while he caressed her thighs and after about five minutes of kissing, she slowly pushed him down on the couch before unbuttoning her jacket, pulling it off, and throwing it on the floor.

With her jacket off her body now, she was now wearing only her white blouse which was exposing her cleavages a little.

She was about to pull off the blouse when Dave's phone began to vibrate in his pocket.

"Wait," Dave said before bringing her phone out of his pocket. "It's my dad." He said with a sigh.

"You should answer it," Emma said slowly, bringing her blouse down before getting off his body.

Dave stared at the screen of his phone for a while, to be honest, what he wanted to do was cut the call and continue what he had in mind at first was decline the call and continue what he was doing but he made a mistake by telling Emma that it was his dad and now that she had told him to answer it, he was finding it hard to decline the call.

"Dave." She called as the goalkeeper had been staring at the screen without picking up the call.

"Fine." He muttered as he picked up the call before getting up from the couch and heading toward the kitchen. "Hello, Dad."

"Hello, I'm speaking to Dave Richards right?" He heard a voice that he could clearly tell didn't belong to his fatter.

"Yeah, who are you?" Dave asked.

"My name's Joshua Watson, I'm your dad's assistant."

"And my dad told you to call me and tell me something that I don't care to know."

"No, I made this call on my own, your dad was just involved in an accident on Unique's highway, he was rushed to the Central Hospital a few minutes ago."

"Accident?" Dave said with a horrid expression on his face.

He thought his hectic day had ended on a fine note and now this was happening.
