The Guardian continues to stare at the city below, watching the citizens go on with their daily lives. The emotions in his eyes were indecipherable

"Do you believe that there are people that are born to achieve great things in the world?" The Guardian asked casually

"I don't understand, Master" the voice replied and the Guardian turned around. His eyes seems as if they could pierce through space and he was staring at whoever the source of the voice was

"At the very start, I am already a mage with potential better than most people. With my raw talent alone, I could become the Chief of my tribe. I am loved and highly regarded by everyone and with my help, the tribe started to prosper more than ever"

"However, tragedy struck my tribe. A beast tide that we had never encountered before suddenly arrived causing my birth tribe to be annihilated. In that beast tide, it was logical to say that no one should have survived"

"Not only did I survive alone, but while I was running away to hide from the magic beasts, I fell on a cliff and when I returned to my senses, I was already deep underground. In there, I had a fortuitous encounter as the underground cave actually has a puddle of black stalactites' milk which is a great treasure of heaven and earth that could elevate the consumer's talent to a whole new level"

"It was as if I was completely reborn. I was already a talent but after consuming the milk of the black stalactites, my natural talent rose even higher. I encountered almost no bottlenecks"

"After my tribe was destroyed by the magic beasts, I vowed to take revenge and carve a place for humanity in this world. The milk of black stalactites is just one of the fortuitous encounters that I had. There are many more that I had even though I didn't seek them"

It could be said that the Guardian is a person that seems to be loved by the heavens. His luck was astronomical and one fortuitous encounter after another fell on his lap easily. He almost doesn't need to seek treasures as one way or another, he would get what he need

He is a man that many are envious of

"Master is lucky compared to most people" the voice replied but the Guardian shook his head

"I don't believe that this is simply luck. I observed the people of this city, there are many of them that are far lucky than the others as if they are blessed to achieve great things"

"Sure, luck works in this way. You won't know who will be the lucky and unlucky ones and it looks completely normal"

"However, there are things that made me think that luck is not simple. After I reached a certain level, it was as if my luck was reduced to the levels of normalcy. I was not as lucky as before anymore and that is when I failed to expand humanity's territory"

"As luck is unpredictable, it was normal that I won't always be lucky but then, the Sage suddenly appeared from the ranks of the magic beasts. He lived a life similar to mine. Fortune fell into his lap until he reached the top"

"I was the most fortunate person amongst humanity and the Sage for the magic beasts and this gave me two theories"

"The first theory is that there is a powerful entity controlling things behind the scene. They should be the playful type and they wanted humanity and magic beasts to have a final clash sometime in the future"

"The second theory is that there are simply people born to do great things. This might not sound much but I believed in this second theory more than the first one"

The Guardian turned his back again as he continue staring at the people below the magic tower. He reached out his hand as his eyes glowed with hope

"I haven't seen anyone in this city that has a fortune that rivals what I had before. It might be that they are hidden and I am simply unaware of their existence or that kind of person is not living inside the city"

"If they are not living inside the city then they might have a circumstance similar to mine. They are born in one of the scattered tribes in the realm"

"This theory sounds even more plausible after the discovery of the tribes' annihilation. There is a low chance that humans would do such a thing since they won't gain anything from it but the magic beasts where the smart Sage is part of is different..."

The Guardian clenched his fist before taking his arm back, his body exuding anger

He was late! He was late to realize such a thing even though he lived for a thousand years

"M-master... you mean..." the voice said and the Guardian nodded his head

"If I am not wrong, the Sage has the same theory as me. To prevent humanity from obtaining my replacement, the Sage decided to use underhanded tactics as he usually does to kill as many tribal people as possible"

"The Sage fears that after I fall, someone would immediately replace me. Since he cannot easily kill everyone in the city which might have a fortune that rivaled ours, he decided to kill the tribal people which have a similar starting point as us"

The voice remained silent for a long time as if it was digesting the words of the Guardian. While this is not something that they cannot verify, now that the Sage seemingly also has the same theory, it sounds more plausible than before

"That's why we have to gather the tribal people as soon as possible before they could all be wiped out. From my observation, luck is not omnipotent. There are many lucky people that died after facing the power of entities far stronger than them!" The Guardian said firmly

He doesn't know the existence of the heavens' blessed and the realm's chosen but his own experience enables him to vaguely know about them

"This is a restaurant, they served whatever food is on their menu but with a pay of course"

"This is a bar, people come here to drink alcoholic beverages"

"This is a shop of Spirit Plants, they of course sell Spirit Plants. This is a place that alchemists usually frequent. Oh, an alchemist is those that study the way to turn their ingredients into something else more useful. There are those that create potions, pills, weapons, and even magic formations. Alchemy is a very broad term"

"This is a potion shop. In here, you could buy potions ranging from mana recovery potions to potions that could heal, or aid in cultivation. There are many potions circulating in the market but the more special potions are not easily obtained. Some are something that couldn't even be bought with money"

"This is a magic artifact shop. Magic artifacts are like flying sticks, magic wands for Spirit Mages, and weapons such as swords or lances for Body Mages. Ah, Spirit Mages are those that received the blessing of mana on their souls while Body Mages are the ones that received the blessing of mana on their physical bodies"

"This is a clothing store where you can buy clothes. Since you just entered the city, someone will bring proper clothes later but if you want and you have the money, you could buy a new set of clothes in shops like this"

"As for this shop, this is the grocery store and they sell food ingredients though if you wish to become a high-ranking mage, it is better to rely on nutrition liquids than normal food as they contain lesser amount of impurities. Some even have fantastic effects upon prolonged consumption though they are pricey"

From morning to afternoon, the tribesmen are toured in the city by Usury. Of course, they only toured a small part of the city where the bare minimum should be known by tribesmen

While familiarizing themselves with the city, the people that saw them shot them a look of disdain. City people really have towering pride

They considered tribal people as inferior to them even though all of them are humans and they are just lucky that they have parents that are born in the city

Even though Usury is there to teach the discriminators a lesson, the blatant discrimination is still too piercing

Many times, the tribesmen would lose control of their anger but before they could attack, they would be stopped by Usury

Some tribesmen are already brewing a plan to escape this place which was understandable. They were invited and even forced to be part of this city but this is the kind of treatment that they are receiving. How can they not want to flee when not all of them willingly joined this city?

Even those that were willing might change their minds after seeing how they are being treated
