Chapter 76.1. The Abyssal Goddess

-Frigg’s POV-

Loki is puzzled. She’s surely transformed, but she doesn’t feel any power. This body has neither the physical ability to fight the hercules knight on equal terms, nor the dagger technique, nor the mysterious secret power that renders her attacks ineffective.

She was an ordinary person. She was beautiful, but Loki did not want that. He wanted the abilities of the mysterious beauty.

“No, I’ve never failed at [Metamorphosis] before!”

“No, you have succeeded, you know? You have transformed yourself into a beautiful woman of the world.”

Frigg praises Loki with a bewitching smile, but Loki seems to think it’s sarcasm and becomes enraged.

“Don’t be silly! Transforming just for appearances doesn’t mean anything! What!? What have you done?”

Loki probably thinks that Frigg has used some magic to prevent the transformation. But her transformation was successful. Frigg was honest in her praise.

The reason why Loki couldn’t copy Frigg’s power was simple.

“Hey, can you transform into the earth by licking dirt? If you lick seawater, can you turn into the ocean?”

“Huh? How is that possible? You’re asking me to become a god!”

How is that possible? If you’re not a god, it’s impossible, Loki shouted, throwing away his previous relaxed attitude.

“That’s right. That’s what I mean.”

“Huh?”

“That’s why I’m a god. My body may be human, but what’s inside is something completely different. Think of it as just a natural phenomenon. If you could transform into a planet, you could have copied my powers.”

Shrugging, Frigg tells the truth. It was as expected. Now she knows what she needs to know. She no longer has any use for Loki. It’s time for the foolish man who calls himself God to leave.

“Hey, …… that’s such a stupid …… joke! It can’t be helped. I’ll turn into a hercules knight and defeat you!”

[Metamorphosis]

She thought that if he transformed into a hercules knight again, she would not lose. Frigg could see that Loki’s words were full of fear. Because she had absolute confidence in her transformation magic, she was in awe that Frigg’s words could be true.

But it was too late. Her fate had been decided.

“Enough of your magic tricks. I’m tired of seeing them.”

[Eraser]

With a snap of Frigg’s fingers, Loki’s transformed form glowed faintly and returned to her original female form.

“Ha, na, what?”

“I’m, you know, I’m set up as a specialist in support magic. And what you just saw is Seize magic [Eraser]. It cancels all magic effects. It has nothing to do with Seize magic at all. Don’t you think it’s terrible?”

“Hiii, hiiii!”

Loki turned her body and ran away like a hare, not seeing Frigg’s dissatisfied expression of pouting lips. In the 18 years since she had learned [Metamorphosis], no one had ever been able to undo her transformation.

And yet, the woman in front of her told her in a natural tone, as if it were a matter of course. It was truly magic but without conceit. She understood that the woman in front of her was someone beyond human knowledge.

“Run!”

[Heavenly Flying Shoes]

The shoes Loki is wearing activate its magic. It’s an ancient relic she had acquired earlier. The mysterious relic is a substitute she can wear anytime, no matter what creature she turns into because it changes its size to fit her. Moreover, because it conceals mana, it looks like an ordinary pair of sneakers at a fast glance.

The effect is that they can run through the air and freely shift to the location she’s marking. However, it also has a weakness: it can only be used once every 24 hours, making it Loki’s trump card.

The space in front of him ruptured, and the [Heavenly Flying Shoes] emitted a divine light. Loki turns around with relief and smiles wryly.

“Goodbye, mysterious beauty. I’ll look into you and the organization you’re with, and I’ll show you. Just look forward to the next time we meet, okay?”

“I guess this is goodbye.”

“Yes, I will. I’ll see you later!”

The scenery shimmers as Loki dives into the spatial rift. When she returned to her original space, she was supposed to be in one of her hiding places.

“I have to close the detective agency first. And that mysterious beautiful woman. I’ll find out who she is. Ah, it’s going to be fun.”

Loki laughed, remembering the feeling of an explorer tackling an unknown mystery. She grinned and laughed, saying that this was different from the beginning, but this one seemed more interesting, and the distortion of space returned to normal.

“Well, hello again.”

“Heh?”

Loki put her feet on the floor, and the feeling of stone returned. Monsters and human corpses were rolling around, treasures were shining, and that mysterious beauty was laughing mischievously.

“Heh? Huh? What, why?”

She must have made a transition. Loki, thinking her magic had activated and that she had been able to escape to her hiding place, looked stunned.

“I told you. I have beginner-friendly skills. I can use magic to keep those with more experience and plenty of money from escaping. I thought I told you earlier, but you didn’t listen. Too bad.”

Frigg’s smile becomes even more bewitching as he finishes loading his flintlock short gun.

“So you can’t escape me. If you were going to run, you should have run the moment we met. You can’t escape a goddess.”

Frigg tells Loki as if it were a matter of course, and finally, Loki, or Takanashi Saeko, breaks down and crawls on the floor.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Forgive me! I understand your power. I understand. I won’t do anything bad from now on. I will use my powers of transformation to save those in need! I will even become a subordinate of your organization.”

At this point, Saeko made a full surrender. She presses her forehead to the floor and begs for her life, but Frigg’s smile remains the same.

“You see. The young lady should have told me to kill you. I hear the protagonist has forgiven you. With his [Magic Destruction], he forgave you after undoing your transformation, and you’ll become an important informant character.”

Again Frigg speaks something that makes no sense, but Saeko listens without uttering a word. Seeing this, Frigg tilted her head with a cocky grin.

“I heard the young lady was upset about that event and wondered why she couldn’t kill you. She said it was an event battle, and the battle ended after she inflicted some damage. I’m sure it was the same in the original novel.”

When Miu saw the game screen, she seemed dissatisfied. She thought she’ll kill Loki, but even if Miu defeated her, the battle ended forcibly without being judged as defeated. It’s a so-called event battle. No matter how she sees it, she launched an attack that would have killed Loki, but for some reason, the battle finished with her being slightly hurt. That is the development of the game’s story.
