Chapter 8.1. My Daughter Is Adorable

-Miu’s Mom POV-

Takano Mirei is the mother of Miu. She had a beautiful appearance among the commoners, and although there was a succession of suitors, she married Takano Yoshiyuki. It was a love marriage. It could be called a great love story.

She built a new house, lived there with her husband, and gave birth to a daughter. They have a happy family.

I gently stroke my child’s head, who is now sleeping peacefully on a fluffy bed in a private room for VIPs that Teijo-san has prepared for her.

My child rubbing her head like a sweetheart is very adorable.

“I don’t believe you fought the monsters and saved your friend. …… I want to praise you, but I wanted you to run away.”

She smiles gently at me because this child worries me. She’s adorable, but she’s also a strange little girl. That is my daughter, Takano Miu. She is the daughter I love most in the world, but when she does something out of the ordinary from time to time, I laugh and think back to the past.

When I gave birth to Miu, I could not hide my worry.

“She cries, but she doesn’t move. I’m worried.”

It was my first child. When she was born, she cried energetically and showed no signs of abnormality, so I was happy that she would grow up to be a healthy child.

“Yes, I know. I’ve heard other people say that their child cries every night.”

My husband also looked at the crib with a clouded expression. Miu would cry during the day, but she rarely cried at night. And she didn’t move her body at all. It was natural to worry.

She could be more active or at least move her arms. But Miu was quiet,  too quiet. When we went to see the doctor several times to see if something was wrong with her, he told us, puzzled, that she might not be a very strong girl.

So we decided to watch over Miu as if she were glasswork. Our fears that she might be frail passed quickly.

Once she was able to crawl, she suddenly became very active. We were relieved. We had been worried that she might not be able to walk. But we were relieved to see Miu actively moving and I smiled at her adorable appearance.

I lack for a better word, but she started doing strange things when she could talk. For some reason, she started to collect numbers.

She would collect numbers and write them in her drawing notebook. After writing many numbers, she would twist her head and ponder. Then she would tap the notebook.

When I told my husband about this, he laughed and then waved his hand.

“She’s just a kid. They get into all kinds of strange things. They get bored easily.”

“I don’t know. Maybe I guess.”

I’m talking to the neighbors, and I heard some children do even more bizarre things. Some kids collect dust, some collect clean stones, and some collect dead insects. I nodded and thought, well, that’s what children are I guess.

Miu is a good girl. And she’s an amazingly good girl. She probably thinks she’s not what her parents want. She always tries to help me with anything and says thank you, and I love you. She tells my husband, and that alone makes him happy.

Miu loves to be cuddled. I think I am spoiling her, but I can’t help but hold her in my arms. The petite Miu is light and warm. She is our treasure.

Once Miu entered kindergarten, she began to show her talent. Her kindergarten teacher funnily told us.

“Empress? Our daughter?”

What a great nickname for my child.

“Yeah, Miu-chan gets everyone involved in her play. If it’s a game of tag, she prepares several demons, and when she’s playing in the sand pit, she creates a masterpiece like a huge sand castle. She pays attention to bullies, calls out to quiet kids, and is known as the Empress, whoever gave her the nickname. They don’t seem to know what it means, though.”

The teacher laughs, giggling. It is a warm laugh, not a mocking one.

I glance at the sandhill and see a huge castle like Osaka Castle left behind. I thought it was a lot of work to build that thing, but she was my child. She was too full of vitality. It seems the only time he was quiet was when he was a baby.

“But since we play without separating the sexes, …… I’m worried she’s being influenced and using a little male language. Please warn him if he uses it at home.”

“Man language?”

“It’s more of a man’s language or a rough tone. Sh sometimes says it when she’s breaking up a fight or something.”

Does Miu use a rough tone? The actuality is that you can’t get a lot of these things. In front of us, she always smiles and begs us to hold her in our arms. I have never heard of a rough tone, but I will be careful. You should be careful with your language at an early age.

My husband works at the Ministry of Magic’s ward office and comes home on time. He helps with the housework and goes for walks and out to eat on his days off. He is a good man who has never forgotten our anniversary. He never uses a rough tone of voice. She must have heard this from another kindergartener.

Lately, Miu has stopped collecting numbers by doing the stag beetle, dancing creative dances, and singing songs. She must be bored. I took many pictures of her adorable appearance and made an album.

My adorable child dances, sing songs and is an idol in our home. I smiled and laughed, thinking she got influenced by the TV show.

But that peace lasted until two days ago. I had finished my morning chores and wondered what to have for lunch.

I heard the ringing of my phone, and wondering what it was, I answered the phone to find a kindergarten teacher says.

“It’s an emergency!! A monster attacked Miu-san.”

My eyes went completely black. A monster attacked Miu? I had never thought that my beloved daughter would get attacked by a monster, although there have been occasional cases of monster outbreaks.
