Chapter 249 Pervert

When Lei Zhen walked past Gordon Jack, he made sure to secretly plant a bug in the back of his suit.

Others might not have caught it since it was lightning fast, but Lei Zhen had noticed Gordon Jack was trying to molest Samantha when he was extending his hand out for a handshake.

It was that realization that caused him to step in front of Samantha to protect her.

Taking out his phone slowly, Lei Zhen activated the mini Aura AI and had her investigate everything about Gordon Jack.

The investigation from Aura would naturally not be something you can find on the internet, but something that is secretly hidden from the public. Information such as criminal history or illegal activities that Gordon Jack had done.

With the bug that Lei Zhen planted on Gordon Jack's suit, he would be able to hasten the process to learn everything about him.

As men, Lei Zhen could tell Gordon Jack had laid his eyes on Samantha already, and he would be damned if he allowed Gordon Jack to succeed.

'A toad wanting to eat swan meat? Just watch how I'll butcher your toad's leg and steam it nicely in a wok.' Lei Zhen sneered inwardly.

Sometime later, Lei Zhen caught up to the women when he noticed them sitting in the front row labeled VIP.

Seeing Samantha had already begun chatting quite happily with Jessica and Bella, he could only reluctantly walk toward her without saying much.

"Wow, you really are a doctor, Samantha? I would have never guessed your occupation based on your modeling and actress look." Jessica gasped in shock when she saw the doctor's license ID from her.

"Most people have said that to me, but I'm used to it by now." Samantha chuckled softly.

And she continued, "Originally, Lei Zhen was going to become a doctor too if he hadn't become addicted to Magnolia. Am I right, Lei Zhen?"

Being asked directly like that, Lei Zhen smiled bitterly.

"I'm not an addict to Magnolia, merely my goal has been slightly shifted." He responded, taking the empty seat next to her.

"Anyway, how was your talk with that Gordon Jack? Is everything alright?" Samantha then whispered softly to him, seemingly concerned about their conversation.

"Just enjoy your time here, Doctor Samantha. I promise that nothing will happen that could or would spoil your mood." Lei Zhen reassured her, not planning on going over the details.

Seeing that Lei Zhen had no intention of telling her, she could only nod her head and not enquire any further. She trusted him, otherwise, she wouldn't have agreed to be his companion for tonight's event.

"If you say so, then do you know what this movie, Perished Island is about?" Samantha changed the topic and asked. "Jessica here has given me some insight into the director's intention of the movie and also her input on the take."

"Hehe, I didn't really give much input, Samantha." Jessica scratched her head and laughed cheekily.

Before she could continue the conversation with them though, Jessica and Bella were called by other people to go through backstage since the event was about to start. Given that they are the main actresses, it would be bad for them to be unprepared for this event.

"I'll let you two enjoy this moment for now and talk to you later." Jessica excused herself and Bella gave her usual nodding before leaving the front row seatings.

As the two of them left for the backstage, Lei Zhen subtly noticed Gordon Jack entering the backstage as well.

Lei Zhen narrowed his eyes as he wondered if Gordon Jack was planning something scheming.

"Yes, somewhat concerning. I may not know much about the entertainment world, but I for sure know it isn't something glamorous that most common people believe it to be." Lei Zhen said calmly.

There was a reason that most people referred to the entertainment world as a dark entertainment world, meaning things happening behind the scene was unsightly or disgusting.

"Couldn't agree more with your claim." Surprisingly, Samantha didn't disagree with Lei Zhen and even agreed to it.

"Before you arrived, I had gotten a lot of requests from directors here to be in their movie, but of course, I rejected them decisively." She added.

"Sorry, I didn't expect there would be so many problems when coming here." Lei Zhen apologized, feeling a bit regretful about choosing this event to attend. He should have just rejected Jessica's goodwill and not come here.

Meanwhile, Samantha shook her head and laughed.

"What is there to apologize for, Lei Zhen? Do I look like a weak woman that is incapable of protecting herself?" She said in a low but subtle tone.

"The directors didn't pressure me at all when I rejected their requests so I didn't do anything. However, if someone were to attempt to cause trouble for us, then I would make sure they'll regret it dearly."

"Right, I forgot about the power you got. Would you want some fruit beverages then?" Lei Zhen asked.

"Fruit beverages? What about some red wines instead?"

"I can't drink alcohol, Doctor Samantha."

"Don't be a wussy, Lei Zhen. If you happen to be drunk, then I'll gladly protect you from perverts." Samantha giggled and urged him to grab the two red wines that a waiter was holding from afar.

"Why do I have the feeling that you wanted to get me drunk instead?" Lei Zhen smiled bitterly and reluctantly got up to ask the waiter for two red wines.

Meanwhile, Samantha used this time as a distraction to walk backstage without telling Lei Zhen about it.

She had her phone out and saw the images being displayed.

"I swear, being a doctor and pretty might really be a sin. These people really take me as some innocent woman that can be targeted." Samantha's expressions were cold as she entered the backstage without hindrance.
