Chapter 216 Hard Mode

pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ "So the dungeon must be completed in the difficulty of hard mode and above, right?" Lei Zhen asked Jessica to confirm the difficulty mode that they will be attempting.

As previously mentioned, Magnolia's dungeon offered four difficulty modes, easy, normal, hard, and hell. Thus, it wasn't that bad to be forced to attempt a dungeon at hard mode and above.

After all, if they were being forced to attempt hell mode, then the chance of success would decrease tremendously.

Some dungeons required a minimum of 30 people or above to even get through the beginning phase.

And in that case, hell mode would naturally mean that players need to gather at least double the initial calculation of the number of people required to conquer the dungeon.

It was also because of this case that Tang Qiaolian required the assistance of another guild, namely the Cancer Guild to successfully obtain the first-clear achievement on the Hell's Domain.

"That's right, with the timer we have left, we can only have two attempts max. Otherwise, all my efforts would be for naught." Jessica nodded her head and responded.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen could only shake his head occasionally. If she knew the failure of the quest was this much, then why didn't she prepare beforehand?

Why did she have to wait till the last possible hour to decide to attempt the dungeon?

Of course, that was a question that Lei Zhen would keep to himself and not ask her, lest it might irritate her.

After all, she stated that she had a real-life job and that would have taken a toll on her physically and mentally.

"Okay, how many health potions and mana potions did the two of you bring?" Lei Zhen asked Jessica and Bella. In a long-scale dungeon, having these two potions are essential to their survival. Not just that, they also needed to have other tools such as a smart kit to defuse traps.

Of course, there was a class available that specialized in disarming traps, but not many played it since they are quite weak in terms of combat.

"I and Bella brought around 100 of each kind because we wanted to make sure we finished it on the first try," Jessica responded and proceeded to show her inventory list of the high-grade health potions.

If it was some normal potions, then Lei Zhen wouldn't have been shocked, but the fact that they had instead brought the highest quality ones possible that cost 1 gold coin each, was enough to send Lei Zhen into a shock.

By calculating this, they had spent 400 gold coins in total for the health and mana potions.

"Did you reveal these potions to the previous three men?" Lei Zhen asked after regaining his composure.

Jessica nodded her head.

"That's right, and they were quite excited about attempting the dungeon with us. They said they would do all the hard work whereas we can stay in the backline and provide them potions from time to time." She said innocently, seemingly confused by his questions.

Hearing that, Lei Zhen twitched his mouth and sighed softly. Now he realized why those men were so hostile toward him and tried to spoil Jessica by inviting them to the party.

From the get-go, those three men weren't trying to assist Jessica and Bella whatsoever. They were simply trying to lure them into the dungeon with only them alone and then proceed to rob Jessica's wealth.

Given that they could easily afford 400 gold coins worth of potions, it goes to say that their other equipment must have been of high value as well.

"Jessica, remember not to show your wealth too easily to others. This might be a game and dying doesn't mean permanent, but there are still vile people here that would rob and kill other players." Lei Zhen kindly warned her.

"Then are you going to rob and kill me?" Jessica smiled and asked, causing Lei Zhen to be speechless.

'I can't tell if she's naive or clever at times.' Lei Zhen feigned ignorance and pretended not to hear her question.

Sometime later, Jessica walked toward the entrance of the dungeon and chose the hard mode difficulty.

Once she finished choosing the difficulty mode, Lei Zhen and the others received the prompt on whether they were ready to enter or not.

Needless to say, everyone chose the accept button as they were transported inside the dungeon.

The moment they entered the dungeon, they were nearly blinded by the illumination of the dungeon.

Unlike most dungeons that are known to be dark and creepy, the dungeon seemed to be like a playground where everywhere is illuminated, showing each and every passage clearly.

Despite this seemingly welcoming dungeon, Lei Zhen was warier than ever. What the surface showed might not be the whole truth and Lei Zhen had commanded Candice to be ready for action at any moment.

"I received some information previously and the room might be bright, but traps are laid out everywhere. Some are camouflaged to the surroundings so make sure to watch where you step." Lei Zhen explained.

And he continued, "Also, there's a monster known as Cleanos, a lizard type that can conceal itself from the surroundings and sneak attack us once our guards are lowered."

"Understood, me and Bella had researched a bit regarding the dungeon so we know to be cautious." Jessica nodded her head and held her weapon tightly.

"What's the time limit of the quest?"

"About an hour and a half. We can barely attempt to do the dungeon twice."

"I see…" Lei Zhen pondered over and began to activate Omnivision.

Omnivision was still uncomfortable to be used, but in such an environment, it was necessary to detect the hidden traps quickly because of the mana flow band.

Monsters could conceal their appearance, but it was impossible to conceal their mana.

"It's not called hard mode for a reason." Lei Zhen sighed softly once he entered the Omnivision phase.

"Candice, fire your spell at 3 o'clock direction and at 10 o'clock simultaneously."
