Chapter 143 Backfired

Name:MMORPG: Crowd Control Author:Idczhen
With the black mage now successfully detained and brought to the prison cell for transportation to Yors Castle, Lei Zhen could finally relax for a moment.

"Congratulations to the Chancellor for winning this easily." Griselda was the first one to come and teased him.

"Easily?" Lei Zhen chuckled softly before shaking his head. "If it was so easy, then I wouldn't have needed to utilize so much manpower for one person."

The truth was that Lei Zhen almost failed to capture the black mage if it weren't for the two handy scrolls that Kate had given him.

Those two scrolls were the key point in successfully denying the black mage from casting dangerous spells.

Another point was that the black mage was too arrogant.

She was too arrogant to believe that they would not be able to fight this fiercely, causing her to suffer such a loss.

Meanwhile, Tie Longkun walked over depressingly. "Tsk, mages that fly so high to the sky deserve zero respect. How could they not fight on the ground one on one properly?"

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "You can spar with the soldiers if you really want to fight that badly." Lei Zhen calmly responded, deterring him from mauling him over such a trivial event.

After chatting for a while, Lei Zhen opened his mission tab to see the completed sign, only to be disappointed that it still showed in progress.

'How is it still in progress?' He wondered silently, thinking that it should have been completed the moment the black mage was handcuffed.

Just when he was filled with doubts about the system, a loud explosion occurred.

"..."

"What kind of cliche and cringe situation is this?" Lei Zhen instantly screamed in anger. It doesn't take a fool to realize where the explosion came from given its direction and sound echo.

The explosion came from the transportation carriage in which the black mage was detained and was traveling to return to Yors Castle.

Of course, Griselda and Tie Longkun tried to play it cool and didn't believe it was the transportation carrier.

However, Lei Zhen snickered coldly as he pointed at a frantic soldier running toward them. "Look at the soldier's expression. It's obvious without needing a brain cell to piece the hints."

Sometime later, the soldier arrived in front of Lei Zhen, went on his knees, and took a deep breath before explaining.

"Reporting to the Chancellor, we have a traitor. The handcuff that was detaining the black mage was broken and she cast an explosion on the escorting soldiers. She is now coming over here." The soldier relayed the news.

"Wow, am I not surprised by this?" Lei Zhen asked sarcastically. It was clear that this fight should have been over with but now it was being dragged on unnecessarily.

And why is that?

A goddamn traitor appeared out of nowhere, out of context, and it's just bland and cliche at this point.

"Thankfully, I'm already prepared for that." Just when everyone was in a panic and thought they had to fight the black mage again, Lei Zhen's words shocked them all.

"Y-You anticipated this situation?" Griselda asked in a dumbfounded tone.

Even Tie Longkun was nodding his head like a bobblehead which was his way of expressing confusion.

"Of course, I anticipated such a situation. I was merely irritated because I actually had to do this." Lei Zhen sighed softly.

"Then why are you sighing like it's a defeat?" She asked.

"Because it's just tedious, almost as if you just completed your homework, only for you to find out it was incorrect and had to redo it."

"T-That's some analogy…"

While they were conversing, the black mage emerged uncuffed and hovered in the sky.

"Didn't expect this to happen did yo-"

The black mage wanted to taunt Lei Zhen, but when she noticed the soldiers surrounding him didn't react much to her emergence, confusion occurred on her face.

A bad premonition suddenly came to her mind when she recalled her summoned monsters and spells being ruined multiple times by Lei Zhen.

"Oh, it seems like you got scared a bit." Lei Zhen chuckled softly once the smug expression of the black mage vanished.

"Don't worry, I'm a gentleman. I don't bite, but I do hurt a little bit."

"You cheeky bastard!"

The black mage no longer cared whether it was a trap or not as she fired multiple spells at once. A barrage of spells soon rained down at the swamp where Lei Zhen and the rest are located.

And just when she expected them to either use a shield or explode into bits, she heard Lei Zhen's words.

"I'm sorry black mage, but I have a reversal formation set up in advance. Henceforth, please kindly take back the spell you dealt." Lei Zhen chuckled softly and sent his prayer for the generous black mage.

How to backfired on yourself 101 crash course introduced by your personal instructor: the black mage!

The black mage just exhausted her mana to send out a powerful spell, so she had no strength nor energy to deflect it.

She could only put up a superficial shield and with her eyes, she witnessed her very own destructive spell coming back at her in full force.

KABOOM!

The black mage weakly crashed to the ground for the nth time, and she was so exhausted to even move a muscle.

As she watched Lei Zhen calmly walk toward her, she only held a bitter and regrettable smile on her face.

"Truly one fearsome Chancellor… to think you would even account for something like this." She said in a bitter tone.

"I'm not a fearsome, black mage. Just a bit more thorough than the average person." Lei Zhen responded.

At the same time, he went on his knees and asked in a low tone, "Who was colluding with you, and who allowed you to escape?"

The black mage remained silent and didn't plan to speak further.

Seeing her adamant expression, Lei Zhen nodded his head.

"Let me guess, the culprit is George, head of the Defense Ministry of Yors Castle?"
