Chapter 96 Pacifying

Given that Princess Kate was still someone with a high reputation and had a lot of connections, Chris didn't dare to blame her at all.

However, that wasn't the same for Lei Zhen, who he knew was just a poor man scamming his 3 copper coins.

"Where's Lei Zhen? Is he really that heartless to ignore me now that he got a high rank?" Chris asked angrily.

And he continued, "I knew I shouldn't have trusted him. As expected, everyone is just backstabbers once they make their fortune."

"No, you got it wrong, Chris." Kate raised her hand and shook her head.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "Lei Zhen is just resting in the guest room and you should know that when he rests, we aren't allowed to bother him." She added, reminding him of the time when he was in the tent previously.

Although still a bit angry, Chris understood this explanation wasn't made up.

After all, he saw Lei Zhen sleeping in the tent for so many days and didn't bother coming out.

"Hmph, but that still doesn't pacify my anger when he didn't even bother informing the guards of my appearance." Chris scoffed and crossed his arms, feeling aggrieved at the previous situation.

Kate could only smile bitterly at Chris' behavior.

Normally, she would have been offended and ignored the person outright.

She was impulsive and never cared about relationships with others until she met Lei Zhen, who scolded her constantly about how to act properly.

'What would Lei Zhen have me do in this situation?' Kate wondered silently, feeling helpless at pacifying Chris' anger.

As much as she hated petty men, she knew Chris had a legitimate reason to be furious since he had helped them a lot during the war.

Without his funding and armory, she doubted her army could be that successful against the two princes' armies.

While she was pondering over what to do, she suddenly recalled Lei Zhen's conduct and his teaching. If one is at a disadvantage, then one shall change the scenario into one that's advantageous to you.

"Chris, would you perhaps want to rest in a guest room first? I'm sure my father would want to have an audience with you." Kate smiled brightly and said.

Upon the mention of her father who is the King of Yors Castle, Chris' expression changed.

"Your father wants to meet me?" He pointed at himself and asked.

"Of course, my father will reward those with merits. Since you assisted me during the difficult time, how could my father not have an audience with you at the very least?" Kate said, highlighting his merits.

"Cough, I suppose I could wait in a guest room for your good news." Chris faked a cough and said, clearly hinting that he shall let bygones be bygones.

Many merchants wished to have an audience with the king currently, but only he would have the chance and was recommended by the princess specifically.

How could he still be petty over such a trivial matter?

Kate was exhilarated and hurriedly commanded a maid to bring Chris to get a guest room for rest.

"Heh, I'll count on you then, Princess Kate," Chris said before leaving with the maid.

After pacifying Chirs successfully, Kate breathed a sigh of relief.

'Phew, if it was me in the past, then I bet I would have been lost and helpless at what to do.' She thought to herself.

Shaking her head, she still needed to resume what she was planning to do from the beginning, reconstructing Yors Castle.

The war might have been over, but that doesn't mean she could just sit back and relax. Many repairs needed to be done and a lot more work for Yors Castle to resume its lively atmosphere as a trading country.

To do that, she needed to inspect the walls outside personally and list what was the highest priority that required their attention first.

"Sigh, hopefully, Lei Zhen can come back soon. I'm a warrior, not a person who does documentation work." Kate looked exhausted when she thought about all these upcoming works.

As Kate struggled with her upcoming assignment, back in the real world, Lei Zhen and Tang Qiaolian were eating at the table.

"Anyway, so we managed to ally with one of the zodiac guilds to compete and everything had been smooth-sailing so far." Tang Qiaolian said excitedly.

"Also, we were getting closer and closer to getting an actual tactic on how to conquer Hell's Domain." She added.

Although it was supposedly a conversation. The truth was, only Lei Zhen was the one listening to Tang Qiaolian since she was the one rambling about what happened on her side.

"Our expedition team was able to reach the boss, but its attack pattern is really weird and would use its explosive move at us in an unexpected manner. However, we kept trying again and figured out its body movement of when and where he would launch its explosive strike at us."

"Oh, I see…"

That was Lei Zhen's reply and would nod his head occasionally to acknowledge Tang Qiaolian's story.

His reaction may seem lackluster, but Lei Zhen was paying attention to every detail of her narration. Compared to her working as a nurse, Tang Qiaolian seemed to have a glow on her whenever she described the adventure she had in Magnolia.

'Now I'm starting to know why Magnolia is such a worldwide sensation. It can invoke such emotions from people and give them a sense of achievement or accomplishment in this modern era.' Lei Zhen thought.

Just like that, Tang Qiaolian continued with her story even though they had long finished their food.

Her smile had never faded and would only become wider as she talked more and more.

Suddenly, Tang Qiaolian paused and glanced awkwardly at Lei Zhen. "Am I boring you with my long-winded narration?"

This was a bad habit of hers when she started rambling on and forgot about her surroundings.

Thus, she looked embarrassed as her face blushed slightly in redness, afraid that she might have bored Lei Zhen.

"Do I look bored to you?" Lei Zhen smiled slightly and shook his head.

"You can continue until you want to stop. I'll be listening till the end."
