Chapter 83 Commanding Officer

Name:MMORPG: Crowd Control Author:Idczhen
With the spar ending unexpectedly in such a surprising manner, the imperial guards that paused their duty for a moment to watch the spar were speechless.

Based on their analysis, they could determine Griselda was a really strong sorcerer since even their emotions were fluctuating when she began to use her charm.

Yet Lei Zhen was somehow able to be unaffected by her charm and was able to make an accurate action to immobilize Griselda.

Such a person was truly frightening for them to become enemies with.

"This is my loss…" Griselda bowed her head slightly and admitted defeat.

As she prepared to turn around and leave, Lei Zhen's words stopped her.

"Where are you going?" He asked calmly.

"Do I really need to say it aloud?" Griselda smiled bitterly.

"I lost miserably and shouldn't stay here any longer to embarrass myself. Rest assured, I won't expose Princess Kate's secret and we can sign a blood contract if you think I'm not trustworthy."

"Why would you be embarrassing yourself?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow.

"I'm quite dazzled by your performance so far. Hence, the position of Commanding Officer will be given to you."

"R-Really?"

"Mhmm, I don't joke about these things. A commanding officer is a big position, one that can change the tide of a dreadful situation. All I'm asking is if you are confident in yourself."

Hearing how sincere he was, Griselda's face turned solemn, and nodded her head. "Yes, you can be at ease letting me in command. I would definitely not disappoint you."

"Good, Princess Kate here shall give you the details and what you'll need to do." Lei Zhen laughed and left the scene.

Since Lei Zhen had accepted Griselda's request, Kate naturally had no objection and instantly invited her officially.

With the official invitation, Griselda soon received a system prompt.

Ding!

[You have been offered to take on the Commanding Officer position from Princess Kate. Are you willing to accept this position? Yes/No]

Griselda was exhilarated to see her risky gamble paid off and quickly pressed yes, officially becoming a member of Princess Kate's faction.

In addition to that, there was now another function that allowed her to see every other player's deployment to the battlefield and their names.

Every player except for a single person had his name and identity anonymous. It was a person that held the highest rank, 'Chancellor' but she didn't know who they were.

'Who is this Chancellor?' Griselda wondered silently.

She didn't connect this to the person she had just sparred with since it wouldn't make sense. The mysterious man that sparred with her had actually caused her to eat a loss, and only those high-ranking players could do this to her.

After all, she was a tier 2 Enchantress Sorcerer and almost all tier 2 players had their identity revealed to the public for fame and reputation. The only ones who remained anonymous could be discerned within their specific action and movement.

Thus, she could conclude that the mysterious man she had sparred against did not resemble any of them.

Of course, the mysterious man could have pretended to be another person and used unknown skills.

However, that wouldn't be explanatory because those are players from a faraway place.

It would have taken them at least a week to arrive at Yors Castle even if they travel via teleportation.

While Griselda was feeling a bit confused as she followed Kate to another military tent, Lei Zhen had already returned to his office.

His back was soaking wet as he needed to take some of his clothes off to cool down.

"Phew, Griselda's passive charming skills are really dangerous." He muttered, feeling extremely fatigued. At first, he was really charmed by her long legs and almost had the impulse to pounce at her.

Luckily, he had done his research beforehand and took a few calming potions to gain some resistance against her passive skill.

Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable if he was exposed and was caught being a player in disguise.

Sitting on his chair, Lei Zhen took a few minutes to calm his emotions and began to plan for the future. As a player, he was truly ashamed of himself for being in the backline when everyone else was fighting on the frontline to gain points for their mission.

He was pretty sure by now that Griselda had gotten a mission from Kate and had access to a function that revealed every other player's data and deployment.

'Sigh, I shouldn't be that jealous of them since I got this mission as well.' Lei Zhen thought, opening his mission tab.

There were only two ongoing missions on his tab, with one of them naturally being the one that Robert Knightman forced him to do, bringing the Ferold's Ring to King Francis Norton.

And the other one was a new mission that was assigned by Princess Kate.

[Mission Name: Princess Kate's Counterattack

Difficulty: Hard

Description: Princess Kate had officially joined the war to stop her rebellious two elder princes from fighting for the throne. She does not wish to see the tragedy continue and hopes to reunite with her father. Assist Princess Kate in her battle to quench the battle between Prince Leon and Prince Carter.

Mission Failure: Either of the two princes had won and successfully overthrown King Francis Norton or Princess Kate had died from battle.

Reward: Tome of Demise, affinity with Princess Kate +100, affinity with King Francis Norton +85, and affinity with citizens of Yors Castle +80]

This was the mission he received when Princess Kate finished acting on faking her injury to the public and returned back.

At first, he wanted to refuse her, but the rewards were simply too tempting to resist, especially the Tome of Demise

Although he doesn't know what the item does yet, just the fact that it had something to do with the "demise" was enough to arouse his curiosity.

After all, he had been cursed ever since his character creation time, and the word demise just so happened to prove his journey so far.

'Maybe all of my paths were fated from the beginning.' Lei Zhen thought, brooding over this complex development.
