Chapter 129 We Need An Exorcist !

"Damn it , this was not included in the report "Mia's frustration grew as her attempts to destroy the moving statues proved to be harder than expected. The silver chain she wielded responded to her commands, wrapping around their limbs and constricting them tightly, yet they remained unyielding.

"It's clear that I'm dealing with more than one ghost here" she grumbled to herself. Hunting ghosts had always been her specialty, and she prided herself on her ability to banish restless spirits. But this campus proved to be a challenge beyond her expectations. The ghost activity seemed to be more rampant than she had initially anticipated.

"Need a hand there?" A masked man chimed, his voice laced with a playful tone. His presence was unexpected, but his offer of help was laced with a tone of playfulness . He was leaning against one of the walls, assuming a casual posture as if he owned the place.

Mia glanced at the masked man, her eyes narrowing slightly. She had been caught off guard by his sudden appearance, and his teasing demeanor didn't sit quite right with her. She considered her options for a moment, weighing the potential benefits and risks of accepting his assistance.

"No thanks, this my prey" she replied thinking that the masked man was also an exorcist like him,  "I can handle myself just fine."

With a fierce determination, she directed her will into the chain, channeling most of her energy through it. The silver links responded, vibrating with a pulsating energy as they came alive under her command. She swung the chain towards the malevolent statues, their grotesque grin mocking her.

clink ! clink! click ! clink! Swoooooosh!

The chains lashed out, striking the stone figures with a relentless speed.

clank! clang ! clank!

The statues trembled under the assault, cracks spiderwebbing across its surface. Mia's energy infused the chain, its power intensifying as it tore through the air.

"Break, you bastard!" she growled, her voice laced with a mix of anger and defiance. She knew she had to destroy them before they start surrounding her again.

Responding to her powerful shout, the silver chain sliced through the air once more, its momentum carrying it towards the unholy flesh of the statues. With a resounding impact, it struck its target, causing chunks of stone to explode in a shower of deadly shrapnel that scattered across the hallway.

But Mia was not done yet . She channeled every ounce of her power into the chain, to end this fight once and for all.

"Break for me !"

Finally, with a final surge of energy, the statue shattered into a thousand pieces. The dark aura dissipated, leaving behind only the remnants of its horrifying presence. She stood amidst the wreckage, her breath ragged but victorious.

"Damn it, my energy is almost depleted ," she muttered, wiping sweat from her brow. She knew she had narrowly escaped a deadly encounter. This was far from over, but at least she had taken down one threat.

As the adrenaline subsided, her mind raced with questions. Who had created this abomination? And why was it targeting innocent women on campus? She needed answers, and she needed them fast.

But as she caught her breath, her momentary break was abruptly shattered. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of movement. A small, seemingly harmless statue of a  smiling baby came crawling towards her with an unsettling speed.

Reacting on pure instinct, she summoned her chains once again, weaving them into a protective barrier. The metallic links whirled around her, forming a shield against the fast approaching threat. She braced herself, ready to fend off whatever this twisted statue had in store.

Clang!

The baby statue directly clashed with her .

But to her shock, it displayed a malevolent strength beyond its small form. Its tiny stone hands transformed into razor-sharp claws, slashing through the her chains with a chilling precision. her eyes widened in realization as the claws aimed for her abdomen.

Desperation surged through her veins as she channeled her energy, reinforcing the strength of her defensive chain barrier.

Clank!

Clang!

Clank!

The baby statue's claws clashed against her chains, creating a rattle of grating metal and scraping stone.

For a moment, her defenses held strong, but the relentless assault began to take its toll. The claws of the baby statue dug deeper into the chain, threatening to breach her protection.

Splash!

Pain shot through her body as one of the claws grazed her abdomen, leaving a deep gash in its wake.

"This is... nothing, " Gritting her teeth, she refused to yield. She poured every ounce of her remaining energy into fortifying her chains, desperately pushing back against the relentless assault. Beads of sweat formed on her brows as she fought to regain control of the situation.

"You sure you don't want a hand?" The masked man voice danced with a playful tone, as if mocking her situation.

Mia's brows furrowed, a mixture of annoyance and skepticism crossing her features. She assessed the stranger again, noting the half silver, half black mask that concealed his face. Who was he, and what did he want?

"I can handle myself," she retorted, her voice laced with determination. She wasn't about to show any signs of weakness, especially not to a person who keeps mocking her.

The man chuckled, a low, throaty sound that gets in to Mia's nerved.

"Well, well, aren't you a feisty one?" he remarked, his eyes scanning her figure with a hint of amusement. "But that wound looks pretty nasty. You might want to consider some assistance."

Mia gritted her teeth, torn between her pride and the reality of her situation. She couldn't deny the pain coursing through her body, nor the fact that she could use a helping hand. However, she wasn't about to admit it to a masked stranger. For some reason, she felt irritated just by hearing his voice.

"I appreciate the concern, but I'll manage," she replied curtly, a stubborn fire igniting within her.

The masked man's lips curled into a knowing smile, his eyes twinkling behind his mask.

"Suit yourself," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of amusement. "Just remember, I did offer my help so don't haunt if you die."

She watched as the masked man turned away, slowly disappearing into the shadows with an enigmatic presence. Her  frustration bubbled up inside her, and she couldn't hold it back any longer. She let out a scream of exasperation, her voice echoing through the empty corridor.

"Wait, you're actually leaving?" she yelled, her tone a mix of annoyance and disbelief.

The masked man halted and turned around, his laughter infectious as he looked back at her.

"Well, you did say you don't need any help," he replied, his chuckles continuing to escape from behind his mask.

"Oh, come on! Can't you see I'm just being stubborn here? I could use a little assistance!" she exclaimed,

The masked man tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Oh, so now you're admitting it? A moment ago, you were all 'I can handle myself,'" he teased, his voice dripping with playful sarcasm.

Mia huffed, a mix of amusement and irritation dancing in her eyes.

"Fine, fine! I'll take the help, but don't get too smug about it," she grumbled, conceding defeat.

"This girl is quite interesting, a tsundere perhaps?" Vincent muttered to himself, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He had initially donned the mask to maintain a certain level of secrecy , but now he found himself genuinely enjoying this alter ego he had created.

The persona allowed him to explore a different side of himself, to indulge in a playful banter that brought a touch of excitement to his mission. It was a welcome change from the seriousness that often accompanied his supernatural endeavors.
