306 First Ever Combined Fight

CHAPTER 306

“Minerva.” His eyes narrowed at her as he perceived she was up to something. “Your place is with the other girls. Should in case things go out of control, you are to assist Astoria in getting them out of there,” he reminded her.

“I know.”

“So?” Xander inquired of her.

“I want to do more than babysit.” Hearing this, Jade balled her fingers into a fist at her side.

If not for the fact that Xander had decided on this and she knew it was for her safety, she would not have allowed Minerva to go with them.

All of a sudden, Jade felt a hand rest on her shoulder and pressed softly to calm her down.

Although she did not bother o look at who it was, she could tell from the perfume the person warned that it was Astoria.

.....

No sooner had she finalized her guess than Astoria spoke to her. “Let it go. It isn’t worth it.”

“Yeah.” Relaxing her muscles and fist, she watched the play unfold.

“I did not ask you to go with them to babysit anyone. Each lady you see is very capable of protecting herself,” Xander informed her as he pointed in their direction. “You have one job.”

“I still do not know why we are carrying out her revenge,” Minerva blotted out.

“Minerva!” Sky hollered at her. “How dare you speak before his majesty like that? Know your place.”

“What? Am I wrong?” she asked Sky, turning to face him.

“Yes.” Immediately, Xander lifted his left hand and Sky fell silent. He brought this gaze to her and a smirk outlined on his lips. “Lest you’ve forgotten, this is a war involving us too. They know about us.”

“It was...”

‘Silence!” Xander bellowed at her. “This war began even before I met her nor fell in love with her and knew she was my mate. It began with the Warners against the Frost family, hoisted by Anders. Need I remind you what such personation and trickery would result in?”

She kept quiet and watched on. “Answer me,” he ordered through gritted teeth.

“Treason, punishable by death,” Minerva responded.

She lowered her gaze and swallowed. The imposing aura he had now was enough to make a lady pee in her pants but for the fact that she was a dragon, she held her ground.

“Not only that, he made my mate wish me dead. Do I need to remind you what the mate bond connotes and what it meant by abolishing all other rules and laws?!”

“No.”

“It meant that had I died, Dracenwald would be left without an heir!” He hollered. “So,” his voice came out softly, “Do you still think this battle is pointless for us dragons?”

“But...”

“Save it, Minerva. This battle must be won. As one of my council members, I suggest you tuck in that jealousy and focus or I would have you sit out and return to the Avery.”

He breathed deeply and let his hands drop to his side as he straightened his spine. “Understood?”

“Understood.”

Without batting an eye in her direction, he turned to the guys and ordered. “We depart at once. Leave no survivors nor trace.”

Normally he may have bided the girls goodbye, but he was not in the mood again. His mood had been soiled enough.

Following his lead, their wings fled and they dove into the sky and flew away.

Once they were gone, Jade rounded up the girls and called out to Minerva. “It is time girls. We cannot lose in our mission. You know what the goal today is. Leave Anders incapacitated.”

“Got it,” Jenny nodded at her. Macy, Asia and Astoria agreed as well.

“Jenny, Astoria and Minerva, you would ride with one of us, non-dragons, to be better prepared for any situation.”

“Alright.” All the ladies smiled at each other except Minerva, but they could barely be bothered by it.

Seconds later, several cars and vehicles drove to the front of the house and waited for them. “It is time.”

****

A few hours later, Sky, Jay, Xander, Aramis and Xander arrived at the port and watched from where they hovered in the sky, masked from the normal eyes by the clouds.

They stayed in the air for some minutes to monitor the activities going on first before they attacked.

After about thirty minutes, Xander lifted his hand to get their attention and all the dragons readied themselves.

Not just them, they had five other dragon guards accompany them for the battle and waited.

“I see a ship coming,” Aramis announced before the others could see anything.”

“Good. Guys, get ready.”

“Ready as we can be,” Marlon informed him.

“Good.” His eyes narrowed at the ship as their colours turned red and his pupils dilated into a slit. The second his eyes landed on the insignia of the Ander’s his eyes darkened some more.

Balling his fingers into a fist by his side, Xander gave his order. “It is time. Attack!”

SWOOSH!

All the people on deck who were on the outside on the ship engaged in different conversations with one another.

While some drank, some teased, others played games. Little did they know of the danger that lurked above, coming down at them.

“Huh, what is that thing? I mean those birds, they are moving fast,” one of the men on deck noted.

“Bird?” Another man questioned and followed the line of his friend’s gaze. He squinted for some time, trying to make out what he saw.

Seconds later, his eyes widened. “Oh my... God!” He dropped his gaze and looked around. “Scatter! Hide! Incoming!!!”

Hearing the screams of the man, Xander’s lips curled up into a devilish grin as his speed doubled and he landed.

BANG!

The ship shook from the force with which he came down. With his head lowered, he flexed his wings to his side and waited.

For some seconds there, everyone paused. Nobody moved as they watched in awe and fright by the beast in front of them.

Feeling the fearful gaze on his back, he snapped his head up and at the same time, his feathers became sharper. All of a sudden more hits came on the ship as all the dragons landed.

“Attack.”

WHOOSH!
