“Lookout! His curse is coming straight at you!”

Roy saw a streak of white light flashing out of Voss’s third avatar.

It shone brightly under the moon and charged straight towards Arlo, so he warned him about it.

Why? Did Arlo not have eyes?

Well, according to Roy’s knowledge and the system’s notification ringing in his ears, it was the manifestation of Voss’s curse and couldn’t be seen by the naked eye.

But because of his unique title, which allowed him to see what couldn’t be seen, Roy was able to see it.

He could see it, but the same couldn’t be said for the others.

Thus, he warned Arlo, hoping that he would flash away.

He didn’t even want to think about what would happen if this curse took effect on him.

If Arlo were to get struck by it, he would lose all of his reasons and start serving Voss, and that will trouble them endlessly.

“Become my slave!” Voss exclaimed.

He has sacrificed 2-5th of his avatar’s soul to activate this curse, so he was quite sure that Arlo would fall victim to it.

It was extremely powerful, far more than the one he used to corrupt Alkheim of the dark.

“There is no way someone can overcome it. You will become my slave, help free me from my shackles, and help me rule this world!”

Arlo didn’t move an inch from his spot and rolled his eyes at the stupid bastard.

“What would it take for you to realize that you are no longer relevant? This world doesn’t revolve around you. Many have followed your example, and they are already six feet under the ground.” Arlo disdainfully stared him down, mocking him. “If not for the Ashen Land providing for you, you would have long met the same fate.”

“Pretty soon, you would be wagging your tail at me!” Voss laughed.

Damien sighed, “What a shame. He is too stupid. But it does make sense. No one can remain sane after getting locked up for more than a century.”

Roy saw Damien smiling.

Damien turned to look at him and said, “You don’t need to worry about him.”

“What?” It wasn’t his father who was about to get corrupted, but Damien’s, and he didn’t seem worried about it at all. Roy couldn’t understand him. “But why?”

Damien calmly replied, “Voss’s power to turn his words into curses is his soul herding ability. It’s classified information, but he’s the first king of Alis.”

It was a kingdom established in uncharted lands.

At the time of its creation, its sole purpose was to go against the kingdoms.

To do that, It didn’t think twice before accepting people wanted by them, such as criminals, death row escapes, basically, all the scums on Threa.

Voss’s start was like that too.

He was a drifter who lusted after his sworn brother’s life.

Unable to control himself, Voss let his evil thoughts run wild and drugged him before forcing himself on his wife.

By the time he woke up, his wife had committed suicide out of shame, and Voss was nowhere to be seen.

It was still the five kingdom period then.

He was quite a powerful man in the kingdom, neighboring the Sun, and had officials chase after him.

While getting hunted down like a dog, Voss got lucky and stumbled upon a secret realm.

That’s where he obtained it, a first-rank soul shard.

The officials entered the secret realm while chasing after him but were mysteriously killed off.

No one would have known whether he had died if Voss hadn’t decided to come after his sword brother to kill him and take his daughter by force too.

He had learned from his mistakes and corrupted her soul, forcing her to become a puppet who would obey him obediently

He was an obscene man, thousands of times worst than a rapist.

Later on, because he did whatever he liked, he was wanted by all the kingdoms.

All the experts gathered to put an end to his evil doing.

But they only managed to beat him half to death and push him out to the uncharted lands.

In this fight, he lost everything, from his wealth to his many slaves and beauties.

His desire to take revenge prompted him to establish Alis.

It used to be against the five kingdoms back in Voss’s time.

But nowadays, it was going against the Great Sun Empire.

“Not many can access it.”

Damien, however, could access information about him and Asil, the Kingdom of Dark Mages, free of charge.

“And from it, I found out about his weakness and strength.”

Damien listed them out.

“His soul herding ability is definitely strong and can even trouble the mightiest of experts, but it’s no match against Arnard’s. He is Voss hard counter.”

“I have never seen him using his ability. I don’t know how strong it is.” Roy said, his eyes reflecting the scene of the curse entering Arlo. “But I am going to soon find out.”

Black veins popped up on Arlo’s skin, and his eyes also turned dark as Voss’s curse attacked his soul.

It’s a sign that Voss was succeeding in corrupting his soul.

Roy felt nervous, and he asked, “Will he really be fine?”

The Female Siren and Sandra were sweating buckets. Sandra didn’t know why but just looking at Voss was enough to tell her how many he had killed. The Female Siren’s hand was grabbed by her husband, but she didn’t feel at ease at all. She had heard him say how easily he ruined the proudest people under the heaven with a single technique, and if not for the eggshell protecting her, she too would have been corrupted by him.

All in all, this move wasn’t something one could take head-on, but Arlo did just that!

Tevenlor had a face made of iron. He could hardly show any expression but seeing him impatiently tap his shoulder told Roy that he was also nervous.

Damien said, “Just wait and watch.”

No more words were exchanged between them.

“I defy…” Arlo muttered, his voice barely audible as he crossed his fingers. “… your curse from being realized.”

“You…”

What happened next shocked Voss so much that all his eyes opened beyond the size of saucers, threatening to pop out of their sockets.

With just a single sentence, Arlo nullified his curse!
