Chapter 140 Spying on Potential Major Villains

“Okay, okay, I won’t,” Maya promised Aydin that she wouldn’t speak ill of their relatives again, and only then did he become less angry at her.

It was quite suspicious that they were charged with a severe crime and killed overnight by the same person.

Aydin knew his parents well; they weren’t the type of people to cause other harm.

They were good people who had donated their clothes and wealth to the people and even sent weekly or monthly rations to poor households many times.

They didn’t have much themselves. They were nobles only in name. That’s the best way to explain them. But they helped as many people as they could.

So… how could they give in to Chaos? It didn’t make any sense!

Aydin was certain that either they were silenced or someone fooled the Duke into killing them.

“I thought we would rot in that cage till we die. But we were luckily saved by a good and handsome man.” Maya had nothing but good words for Roy. She was extremely horrified because of Donovan. But then Roy appeared, snatching her away from the demon. He was like a ray of light in her darkest time. She couldn’t help but like him.

Roy: ‘Yup, praise me more, young one.’

“Most killers are handsome. Be aware of this man.” Aydin warned her not to trust a stranger. After what he had been through, he couldn’t help but suspect everyone, and he thought that Roy might have a nefarious purpose behind saving them from Donovan and purchasing them.

Maya questioned him, “Then… Why do you think he is treating us so good, Big brother?”

Roy: ‘Why? I am a saint that doesn’t want to see you give in to evil and work for Chaos. And… I am also a corporate devil who will train you to the bone and have you fight Chaotic beings and Chaos. That’s why! Hahaha!’

Someone had a totally different answer than his to this question.

“I heard rumors that nobles have weird taste, that they are beasts in human clothing. They go after young and tender girls and boys alike. Who knows if he is also like that? He might be eying our bodies and just waiting for us to lower our guard before he makes his move. Don’t trust him easily. If he ever calls for you… come to me first. We will go together to see him.” Aydin was afraid that if his sister was alone in the presence of Roy, he might do something indecent to her.

What he could never expect was that Roy would hear him.

Roy: ‘Little bastard, how lowly do you think of me?!’

Roy was reconsidering his idea of overhearing them.

“Cough!” A cough escaped his mouthless body out of anger.

It was audible.

And… Aydin caught it.

He cautiously looked around but found no one.

How could he have when the man who coughed was one with the shadow of the tree next to him?

“Did you hear that?” Aydin questions his sister.

Maya blinked her eyes at him in confusion. “Hear what?”

“Never mind, maybe I am hearing things.” Aydin waved his hand, dismissing this matter.

“Let’s go back before they find we are missing from the manor and get suspicious of us.” Maya grabbed his hand and pulled him into the Manor. He let himself be dragged away by her. He was the elder brother, but she was stronger than him. The only thing going for him was that he was smarter.

“How we get treated will determine whether they are good or bad. Before that, our stance towards him and his associates should remain neutral. Don’t even let them know we can talk until we are certain we can trust them.” Aydin was demanding this from Maya.

As he was the sole reason she had survived so long, she complied with his wishes. “Okay.”

Seeing their backs getting further and further away and becoming a blurry sight in his vision, Roy morphed back into his human form and clicked his tongue, “Are teens these days so damn suspicious of everyone that helps them? Nope, they aren’t!” He was a teen himself a few years ago, so he knew that this wasn’t the case. “Aydin is like a broken-hearted teen. He must have trust issues. That’s why he is unwilling to trust “good-hearted” people like us.”

At least they weren’t planning to hold a ritual to accept Chaos. Or else, he would’ve killed them.

“Poof!” Roy disappeared in a burst of smoke.

His misty self seeped into his room through the window and shape-shifted back into his human form.

Amelia was dusting the mirror when his reflection appeared on it, and she turned to him, exclaiming, “Wow! Master, how did you pop out of thin air?”

“Magic,” Roy said with a mysterious smile.

Amelia saw the look on his face changing into something familiar, and she came to a sudden realization.

“You need my help with something?” Amelia asked.

Roy nodded, “Amelia, you’ve taken care of the dysfunctional me for years. You must be good with people, right?”

“Yeah,” Amelia proudly accepted his compliment. “Why you ask?”

Roy replied, “Take care of our new kids.”

Hearing his words, Amelia imagined that they had been married for years, and he was asking her to be a responsible mother to their children.

With such thoughts swirling in her mind, Amelia’s face heated up so much that it turned red like a steamed crab.

She certainly was imagining something unbelievable. That’s what Roy found out from her continuously changing facial expressions. Did she just go haywire?

“What’s wrong?” Roy saw her flushed face and wondered what caused it. “Are you feverish?”

“No, it’s nothing. I’m fine.” Amelia stepped away from him and thumped away her head a few times to clear the dirty thoughts in her mind.

She came off as rather silly to Roy as she did that.

He secretly smiled. ‘Teasing her is really fun.’
