Chapter 534 Blitz: Saltare (3)

Kyran immediately recognized the white snakes coming straight at him were no ordinary magic attack. They exuded a similar presence to True Void, meaning they were the spirit formed from Gael's scythe after developing its sentient.

Without a change in expression, Kyran raised his left hand toward the incoming blade-like attacks. A purple ring shot out from his palm, which increased in size as it neared them. Soon the center of the purple ring was already large enough for the blade-like attacks to pass through.

When Gael saw this he frowned. Obviously, he did not believe Kyran would launch an attack only to let them pass through. The latter definitely released that purple ring for a reason.

Unfortunately, Gael could not control the route of the blade-like attacks. He could not retract after releasing them. Even if he could do this, he would not stupidly retract them because that would result in him receiving a backlash.

Gael's doubt was answered in the next second.

When the blade-like attacks passed through the middle of the purple ring, they crackled and soon their black color turned purple. After which, they stopped in midair for a second before suddenly retracing their route back to where they had come from.

Gael's eyes widened at once. Only a few seconds ago, he could still sense the blade attacks' energy as his own, but now it had completely changed. It was inconceivable! Could it be that Void magic could change a magic attack's energy? If that was true, then Kyran was practically invincible against any mage!

Impossible! No magic should have such omnipotent ability. There must be a catch or a requirement Kyran had to fulfil to pull this off.

However, Gael had no time to ponder on it because judging by the route the black-turned-purple blade attacks had taken it would collide with his weapon's spirit in the next few seconds.

The white snakes' hissing intensified and soon sounded like shrieking as they glowered at the incoming purple blade attacks.

Kyran remained standing in his spot, watching as the distance between the snakes and the blade attacks was reduced to ten meters. At the same time, he was also monitoring the progress of his Void weapons.

The Void weapons failed to penetrate the defences of the Shadow puppets. They could only keep attacking one spot on the Shadow puppets' bodies until they succeed in piercing through their defences from there.

The Shadow puppets struck at the Void weapons in defence, and when an opportunity presented itself, they would strike with the intent to destroy the Void weapons. Unfortunately, same as how the Void weapons could not pierce through the Shadow puppet's defences, the latter also failed to land a significant blow on the former. Accurately speaking, the puppets' attack easily disintegrated after passing through the weapons.

Both sides were in a stalemate.

Kyran more or less guessed that the dense black shadow that covered the ground had something to do with the Shadow puppets' abnormally powerful defences. To prove this idea, he saw a Void weapon accidentally forcing a Shadow puppet at the border of the black shadow's range and was soon cleaved apart— or to be more precise, disintegrate in less than three hits.

From this, Kyran deduced that the black shadow's influence was weaker at the edges and if he could make his Void weapons force these puppets in that area, then it would only take a few seconds to destroy all of them.

While these thoughts coursed through Kyran's head, he had a third of his attention on the snakes and the purple blade attacks.

By this time, there were only two meters before the two collided.

All the while, Gael was not stupidly watching the whole thing happen before his eyes. He landed and pierced his scythe on the ground. The black shadow wriggled and soon black snakes emerged ten meters away from Kyran on all sides.

The white snakes pulled their heads and opened their mouths, revealing sharp fangs. White and black-colored concentrated energy beam shot out of their mouths and went straight at the purple blade attacks.

Kyran's eyes narrowed after seeing the white snakes' attack easily riddling the purple blade attacks, destroying them in just a couple of seconds.

Just as Gael suspected, Kyran did change the magic energy property of the blade attacks. The ability of the purple ring he summoned was similar to how he could convert the magic energies that entered his body to Void. However, there was still a slight difference. Since the purple ring converted magic attack formed by one magic— in this case, Shadow magic— its strength was reduced. Aside from this, it could only convert pure magic energy attacks. It could not convert magic attacks from magic arrays.

Nevertheless, even if the strength of the converted magic attack was reduced, it should not have been easily destroyed especially when it possessed the property of Void magic.

Previously, he only knew Ruin's magic, which could destroy his Void magic. Apparently, there was also someone in the Human plane and judging from his aura, he was only a Magus. If he advanced further, he could become an existence similar to Ruin that might have the ability to counter Void magic.

A smile appeared on Kyran's lips. Instead of feeling threatened, the thought actually excites him. He even entertained the random thought that crossed his mind, which was to let Gael go so he could advance. They could fight again once the latter becomes stronger.

Of course, this was only a fleeting thought. If Kyran really let Gael go, who knew how many of his people this old guy would kill along the way?

While Kyran was deep in thought, the black snakes had already closed in on him. They opened their mouths and breathed out black-colored fog, instantly reducing the visibility to zero.

In only three seconds, Kyran was shrouded in darkness.

Gael advanced with the white snakes and they simultaneously launched Shadow magic attacks at the black fog.

Inside the fog, Kyran's smile widened. He did not expect Gael to create such an advantageous setting for him when they had only started their confrontation.

Without delaying any further, Kyran took out a memory soul stone, which had his magic energy. He placed it inside a magic orb Nolan had once given him before putting it down to protect it from the black shadow that covered the ground. After which, he confirmed the situations of all the Montgomeray members and warped.

That was right.

From the start, Kyran did not plan to go all out against Gael. Of of the reason he made such a huge move by expanding his Void Barrier was to stage a scenario that would convince the latter he was here to destroy all of them, thus, forcing Gael to focus all his attention on him. The other reason was to ensure the soldiers on the other side of the stone wall would focus on their 'confrontation.'

After confirming that all of the soldiers were stationed outside the stone wall, Kyran telepathically instructed the Montgomeray and Spirits to stay put and that he would come for them soon.

It was also because of this that Kyran only had a third of his attention on Gael. The other third was with his Void weapons clashing with the Shadow puppets, and the last third was keeping an eye on the movement outside the stone wall.

One could say that Kyran had successfully made Gael dance in the palm of his hand the moment the latter created the 'fog.'

Without delaying any further, Kyran instructed the five Montgomeray members to head toward the town's south exit. Then he instructed the first three sprites who entered the encampment to get ready to leave before warping to where the other three Montgomeray members were at. He took the three with him and warped to the south exit where the five members and five spirits were already waiting.

'Head back to the camp now,' Kyran told the three sprites.

[Yes, Void Master.]

Back inside the stone wall, Gael frowned after his combined attacks with the white snakes failed to incite any retaliation from Kyran.

Feeling as if something was amiss, Gael inspected the fog with his domain. His face immediately turned grim after confirming that Kyran was still inside, seemingly unharmed. It made him wonder whether the latter was leaning towards becoming an Abjurer. But he immediately rejected the idea after recalling the perverse nature of the Void that could easily turn everything it touched to nothing.

The white snakes shrieked and burrowed deep into the dark shadow on the ground, and then they emerged from the spot where Kyran was. Three of the snakes opened their mouths wide and bit into Kyran, while the remaining two breathed out black concentrated energies.

However, the five white snakes immediately hissed and retreated in anger after successfully destroying 'Kyran.'

Since Gael had a connection with the white snakes as they were the spirit of his magic weapon, he sensed this and immediately knew something was amiss. He dispelled the black fog and realized that where the white snakes had attacked were shards of a broken orb.

A glowing purple stone was there, which soon turned black. It was too strange.

But when the stone had turned black, Gael sensed 'Kyran's presence' disappearing.

'This...!'

Gael's eyes turned red figuratively and literally speaking.

"KYRAN REGIS!" He bellowed in anger.

"Don't shout, I'm right here."

Gael almost choke when he heard the voice speak behind him. His magic energy erupted in both anger and frustration as the sky above crackled. But before he could unleash his magic energy further or turn to face the owner of the voice, he felt something pierce through his chest.

His breath caught in his throat. The white snakes also shrieked in pain.

A purple flash passed through the heads of these snakes, which made Gael spit out a mouthful of blood.

That was right.

After Kyran warped the Montgomeray members back to their camp in Noser, he warped back in Tracomill. He did say he would not let Gael off, after what he did to his people— particularly, to Zephyr.

"That's for hurting my people."
