Chapter 528 Blitz: Respite (3)

Kyran unsummoned Bas, Manti, Mera, and Iss to let them recuperate in his Void World. After which, he focused on examining Zephyr and healing him.

It did not take long for him to discover the crux of the problem of why he could not share his healing ability with Zephyr even with the Sigil's help. A remnant of the restraining energy had taken root in his blood streams. Normally, this would not have been possible, however, the energy merged itself with the magic that managed to infiltrate Zephyr's body.

Using simple words to explain it, a different energy with a restraining effect was coursing through his body that prevented him from circulating his own magic energy.

It was a case similar to Cyneah's but also different. Because the nature of the magic that infiltrated Zephyr had no such capability. It just happened that the restraining energy of another magic managed to combine with it, resulting in a similar effect.

True Void, sitting on Kyran's shoulder also realized this and could not help but let out an exasperated sigh.

"It may have only been a coincidence, but if they discover a way to combine these two magic energies freely, it can be a problem for you and your Sigils," he commented.

Kyran did not respond. He retracted his hand, which was placed on top of Zephyr's forehead and stood up.

What True Void said was true. If the enemy knew how to use this combined magic energy, they could easily seal his connection to his Sigils, preventing him from offering them the Sigil's advantage-- sharing his abilities and magic energy.

"Anyhow, it's not entirely difficult to counter. You'll just have to provide them the protection that has the same effect as how by default you can counter any external energy from entering your body."

Kyran frowned slightly. He was about to remind True Void how he reminded him not to infect others with his magic energy or another case like Cyneah would occur, when a thought crossed his mind.

If Kyran did apply a similar protection he had to his Sigils, they would not really have trouble attracting magic energies, because he could provide that using the Sigil. Basically, the magic energy he could share with his Sigils through the Sigil was not Void energy but raw magic energy. Since the Sigil, which was inside their body, would act as the medium for them to gather magic energy they would no longer need to attract the magic energy in the surroundings. Even if there was a layer of protection made of Void energy covering a layer of their body, it would not affect them much.

Of course, this was still a theory. Kyran still had to create an item that could activate the Void protection layer on his Sigils when they were within his range. He did not have to create a permanent protection because the Sigil acting a medium to gather magic energy was only possible when he was within their range. If he was not near them, then the Void protection would become a weakness that could eventually kill them since they could not gather natural magic energies.

"I may be able to do something like that, but not right now."

"Of course, of course. What I said is only one possibility," True Void replied with a shrug. He paused and begrudgingly added, " If you talk to Azaloth about it, he may be able to give you a much better idea."

"Hm," Kyran grunted in reply. "I'll remove the two energies first."

True Void looked at his profile and raised his brows, "You're not going to ask me to absorb it?"

"That Gael's Shadow magic is a little insidious. Its best for you not to absorb it," Kyran said.

"Hmm... I suppose so. Not that it matters. I mean, I can nullify magic energy's nature with my own magic energy since I also possess Void energy."

Kyran still shook his head, "Doesn't matter. I'll remove it myself."

"Alright, then."

True Void did not insist and only watched from the side as Kyran activated his Sigil. He inserted Void energy into the Sigil, guiding it toward Zephyr's Sigil. Soon after the Void energy connected to Zephyr's Sigil, the remnant magic energies that blocked him from fully connecting with Kyran disintegrated.

Seeing that it was effective, Kyran controlled the amount of Void energy entering Zephyr's body lest he also suffered a similar fate to Cyneah.

After almost half an hour, Kyran succeeded in removing more than half of the remnant magic energies. With this, Kyran could finally establish a proper connection with Zephyr, activating the former's healing ability and sharing it with the latter.

Kyran heaved a sigh of relief after seeing Zephyr's complexion turned to normal. The reddish black veins seen on his exposed skin also disappeared. When the harmful remnant magic energies were completely removed from Zephyr's body, Kyran retracted his Void energy and stimulated the latter's healing ability through the Sigil.

"Void Halfling," True Void suddenly called, sounding unusually solemn.

Kyran turned his head to look at him.

True Void kept looking at Zephyr as he continued, "You can actually help Zephyr advance. He is no ordinary Sigil...." he paused before rephrasing his words, "Actually none of your Sigils can be considered ordinary. Even your first human Sigil.

"Unlike how normal Sigils can only advance by themselves, you can personally assist your Sigils' advancement."

Kyran frowned after hearing this. He had always thought True Void knew things he dared not share. But that was only in relation with his predecessor. He was not expecting him to say something that had something to do with his ancestor, the Dragon Lord.

Then again, Caelan and Zane were bestfriends. So it would not be a surprise if the latter shared some things about the Sigil with the former.

"Tell me what you know," Kyran replied.

True Void shook his head, "Sorry. I can't tell you." Then he hasitly added, "Not because I 'can't' like I am not allowed to say anything, but because I don't know how. What I do know is, being the new Dragon Lord, you're Sigil is far more powerful. You have to try and understand it. Better yet, why don't you tell your father that you also have Draconic magic? As far as I can tell, he is not really aware that you are the new Dragon Lord."

"I never considered myself as the Dragon Lord," Kyran replied with a slight frown.

"It doesn't really make a difference whether you consider yourself one or not. You have the Draconic core, that is living proof that you are the new Dragon Lord."

Kyran wanted to argue, but decided against it. There was no point int arguing because he knew he had to face having the Draconic Core eventually. But that was the key word. Eventually.

When Kyran did not respond, True Void dropped the subject.

"Anyway, what's your plan now? Currently, the army is only a few hundred kilometers away and might be awaiting for reinforcements. However, our side doesn't have that. Apart from this, you already revealed the Montgomeray's alliance with you. There is a big chance that the army will target all the residences of the Montgomeray Family."

"There is nothing to worry, I ordered my people to hide in all our secret residences."

Kyran and True Void turned around to face the person who had just spoken.

Ezra smiled at Kyran and lowered his head in respect, "Void Master. I'm sorry we are unable to reduce the army's number and could barely save sir Zephyr and the others."

Kyran shook his head, "You and your people have done more than enough."

"With you helping us take care of the aftermath, and taking care of our wounded, I'm afraid, we have caused you inconvenience."

"It's part of my responsibility when I decided to take you guys in," Kyran replied while looking at the scene around them.

The infirmary was buzzing with activity and every now and then, Anette's voice, barking orders, could be heard from an empty cubicle below. The cubicle had now turned into a makeshift Alchemy room, and Anette with a few Solum members assisted her in concocting potions.

Although pills were far more effective, it took too much time to concoct some, so they had to make do with potions. Besides, one concoction of pills would only produce around ten to twelve, unlike potions where they could brew large amounts.

Kyran observed all the wounded, while he fell into contemplation.

At the moment, their side was at a disadvantage. Even with the Solum Tribe helping in healing the wounded and Anette providing the materials needed for the potions, and such, their resources could not compare to the army.

As for the army, even if they also suffered, they could still dispatch new soldiers.

Nevertheless, Kyran knew that if they did not do anything now, they would only end up letting the army regroup and gather more resources.

Ezra refrained from saying anything when he saw Kyran was deep in thought. Initially he wanted to voice his opinion, but he decided to let Kyran share his thoughts first.

True Void was the same. Being around Kyran for some time, he was already aware of his habits of suddenly falling silent when he was deep in thought. If he said something, he might disrupt Kyran's train of thought.

After a few minutes, Kyran finally looked at Ezra and said, "How many abled members do you have?"

Ezra smiled. He had wanted to suggest gathering a small group that would venture into the town where the Royral Army retreated to. Then either launch a sneak attack or intercept their supplies route. However, he was unsure if Kyran would allow them especially when they would definitely need the Spirits help to do this.

But it seemed like, Kyran had the same idea as him.

"At least three squads if we only have four members each team."

"That's more than enough," Kyran replied. "I'll take one squad with me. As for the other two, I need them to do something. Let's discuss it first, and tell me what you think."

"Of course, Void Master."

Kyran looked up and after finding Slith, who was helping in distributing potions, he telepathically called for her as well.

They had to take advantage of this lull if they wanted to gain advantage.
