Chapter 260: Deluge

Chapter 260: Deluge

BOOM!

Kyran hit the ground with a loud boom as he got buried five meters under.

The surrounding air, which had been covered by a cloud of smoke that had started to lift, was surrounded by it again.

"That's three minutes," Cade said. His voice reverberated in the surroundings while he hovered in midair, looking at the small crater where Kyran had landed. "Are you done?"

Kyran, who was still feeling dizzy from having his head bashed by Cade, lay at the bottom of the crater with his eyes closed. After hearing his father's mocking tone, he snapped his eyes open and could not help but glare at the silhouette within the cloud of smoke above.

'Heartless, inhuman, beast!' He ranted inwardly.

What did Cade mean that he was done? He was only catching his breath, alright. Besides, they barely started, and he had not even exerted 10% of what he could do. Cade didn't have to sound as if he had already won.

True Void could not help but agree with Kyran's rant. He had been with Kyran for more than a year and was aware of his growth. Right now, he could tell that Kyran getting pummeled like this had something to do with the lingering fear he had with his father. He could not blame Kyran though. Cade was a real monster.

Sighing inwardly, True Void recalled how many shape-shifting plates had been destroyed by Cade's single punch and he felt like crying.

The shape-shifting plates were made from high quality mutated beast's blood from Lignum plane. Each one of the plates was precious that was why he had been careful in using them. Because, if the plates were destroyed, Kyran would not be able to pull out a new set within the void unless he go back to the Lignum plane.

[Void Halfling. I remember your father's an abjurer. But what in blazes was wrong with his offensive attack?]

'He's using the Regis Technique,' Kyran replied as he brushed off some of the rubble that fell on him.

[You mean Draconic magic?]

True Void gasped.

Kyran's face turned sour as he was reminded of the fact that Regis techniques meant using Draconic magic.

To be honest, the real reason why Kyran did not believe his predecessor's claims that he was using Draconic magic when he used the Regis techniques was because his father and other selected Regis family members could use it.

If his predecessor was right, that meant Draconic magic was not rare and his clan could use it, although the prerequisite was to drink a drop of dragon's blood.

But if this was true, then how were they able to 'store' Draconic magic energy if they did not have the 'appropriate' magic core?

It should be noted that others could summon another type of magic apart from their innate magic, as long as they knew the runes of that particular magic. What about Draconic magic? As far as Kyran was concerned, they had not learned any Draconic runes nor were they using one when utilizing Regis techniques.

'I'm not sure,' Kyran replied.

[That's no good. That's no good. You, yourself, cannot use Draconic magic. If your father is really using it, how will you counter it?]

'Can't you give me some advice? You have been with my predecessor and you also know the Dragon Lord. How did my predecessor deal with him when they fight?' Kyran asked in exasperation.

[It's quite simple.]

True Void suddenly said, his voice full of pride. Just as he always had when talking about the previous Void Master.

This would be the first time True Void would share his predecessor's tactics and Kyran could not help feeling anticipation.

[My master runs away when the Dragon Lord comes.]

'…'

Kyran could not help but look at the shape-shifting plates, in an arm bracer form that looked mangled, where True Void resided. 'What kind of advice is that? You even sound proud!'

Before True Void could defend his master, a thunderous voice interrupted them both.

"Are you really done?"

Cade asked a second time.

Black lines appeared on Kyran's head as he looked up.

By this time, the cloud of smoke had lessened and Cade's imposing figure was already visible.

He wore an amused expression as he looked down on Kyran.

Kyran forced a smile and said, "It's so nice of you not to attack during my vulnerable state."

Cade chuckled and raised his brows.

"I don't think it is necessary," he replied with a slight smile. "Since you could barely keep yourself together."

Kyran's brow twitched. He did not know his father was such a prick when he was young.

"We're just starting," Kyran said as he stood and jumped out of the crater.

"Good," Cade replied as he disappeared and reappeared five meters in front of Kyran.

"Don't disappoint me," he added as three silver magic arrays formed, surrounding Kyran.

Kyran's eyes glowed reddish-purple. The instant the silver magic arrays had formed, he already summoned three small purple discs. Each of the discs hovered right in the middle of each silver magic array.

Purple lightning flashed from the purple discs and aimed at some points on the magic array's rune writing and soon they began to crumble.

Cade noticed this and his eyes narrowed at once.

More silver magic arrays appeared around them which instantly caused Kyran's scalp to go numb.

How was his father able to summon so many magic arrays almost in an instant? As far as he remembered, Dante was the only one who could do something like this.

Pushing all unnecessary thoughts at the back of his head, Kyran summoned several purple discs. Each of the discs once again hovered in the middle of the arrays.

Cade sneered and he spread his arms, as hundreds more of the silver magic arrays appeared in the air.

"Oi!" Kyran complained and summoned more purple discs to destroy the arrays.

Right now, he felt as if they were playing a game where they were both creating something and neither one of them wanted the other to create more than the other. It felt a little childish.

Wait. Did this mean, his father was not taking him seriously?

The thought pissed Kyran.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions filled the air as one after another, the silver magic arrays exploded after the purple discs destroyed some of their parts.

As clouds of smoke filled the whole surrounding, Cade made his move.

He dashed forward with his right hand outstretched. A silver magic array appeared, hovering before his open palm. The magic array rotated at an incredible speed and a black material slowly emerged from the center.

Kyran instantly jumped back. He had a feeling that his father wanted to have another melee confrontation which he wanted to avoid. His body might have been strengthened by the Elixir, but if he kept on receiving Cade's powerful physical attacks, sooner than later he would end up getting fatally injured.

[Void Halfling!]

BANG!

"Ugh!"

True Void's warning came too late as Kyran hit something like a thick solid wall as soon as he jumped back.

Cade shook his head, "Too naive. You are too focused on me and my magic arrays, you forgot there are other ways I can lay a hit on you."

Before Kyran could recover, several black thick walls rose from the ground around him. Instantly trapping him from within.

"You know," Cade started while he stopped in front of the black walls. "I forgot to tell you. But I am actually an Abjurer."

Several small silver magic arrays filled the black walls, and from the inside, as soon as the magic arrays appeared, black solid steels protruded out from the black walls piercing Kyran in multiple directions.

Kyran's eyes glowed as a purple sphere erupted from within him. This time, he did not hold back and unleashed the full capability of his Void magic.

BOOM!

The sphere expanded and instantly obliterated everything it touched.

Cade's eyes constricted and he retreated as soon as he saw the expanding purple sphere. He spread out his arms, and a huge golden array appeared above.

The moment the golden array appeared, the expanding purple sphere stopped. It was as if an invisible force was preventing it from expanding further.

Another layer of golden array appeared beneath the first one, and this time, a powerful pressure bore down on the purple sphere.

In an instant, the purple sphere trembled.

A third layer of the golden array appeared on the second one, and the whole surrounding vibrated. Cade's eyes glowed silver as his magic pressure erupted, he moved his hands and the  third golden array rotated.

Crackling sounds filled the air and bolts of lightning flashed upward from within the golden array. The bolts of lightning struck the second golden array, and soon this too began to rotate.

Bolts of lightning appeared on the second golden array which struck the first one.

Finally, the first array also began to rotate.

Magic fluctuations filled the air as crackling sounds came from the three-layered golden array.

As the rotation of the arrays picked up speed, a powerful crushing force bore down on the purple sphere which instantly caused cracks to form on its surface.

Similarly, cracks formed on the ground around the sphere from the pressure coming from the golden array.

Though all of these seemed to take some time to progress, the truth, only five seconds had passed.

"Deluge."
