Chapter 206 An Unbeatable Foe

POV Alesia:

The young elven girl Alesia stood in a lit-up cave chamber. Her long blonder hair was falling down her back like a golden waterfall.

She was hunching over tables overflowing with different instruments and materials.

A small group of people stood behind her, everyone keeping a safe distance from the small girl as if they were scared of her.

She wanted to punch these ignorants behind her for being too blind to understand the great power that her transformation brought her.

'Nah, the mortals always feared those with a greater power than themself, calling them monsters.'

Still, they kept leaning forward, peaking over at the table, making Alesia faintly smile as she knew they were passionate about their work and would put effort into her small project ignoring their personal issues.

Still, she knew that it wasn't enough, 'I need them not just to work hard; I need them to put all of their soul into their work. My master only needs the beast out of best.'

She grinned as she reached with her hand towards something on her belt.

'Hah, I will make them change their mind once they see what I am trying to do.' She was sure that after seeing the material they had access to and her outstanding work, they would quickly change their opinions and become good assistants to her efforts.

She was arrogant, but she knew only her capabilities weren't enough for the new project.

All she wanted to do initially was work with her runes. Still, upon witnessing the immense potency of materials from true dragons, she found her dismal that runes weren't even close to being enough to harness the potential of draconic materials.

She took a small vial filled with a glowing red liquid from her belt and lifted it high into the air.

All of the eyes in the room fell on the red-glowing liquid.

"What is that?"

Alesia gently smiled and prepared to unleash a huge bombshell, "A blood of a true dragon! Our master has near unlimited supplies of it and other materials from dragons."

Loud gasps filled the cave, everyone looking at the vial in her hand. Their eyes glued on it, with their hearts loudly beating. Her sharp sense quickly picked up the little changes in their mood.

Finally, one of them got out of his shock. The white-bearded dwarf spat on the ground, rolling his eyes in disbelief, "Sorry, Alesia, but I don't believe you. It is impossible to have so many of such rare materials!"

"Are you sure that you weren't tricked? It must be fake!" even the young arcanist looked at the vial with doubt. She always considered Alesia to be the most gullible.

She already felt like running out of her patience and wanted to start working on her project, but instead, she was stuck convincing her new assistants.

"Just look at me! I was already elevated into a dragonkin!" she pointed at her horns.

"Yes, you were definitely transformed into something... but I don't think anyone would just give you dragon blood. You are being lied to and used!"

'Tch, such inferiors. How could I forget that they are not like elves and cannot see the aura of this blood.' she could feel both her elven and draconic superiority flare up within her after seeing how incompetent other species truly were.

She just grinned at her colleagues, her pristine white teeth sending shivers down their bodies, "If you have any doubts, I am sure that my master will gladly rectify them for you."

She already felt like laughing, imagining the awe and horror that they would feel towards her master.

'Why should I bother trying to convince them when just a single look at my master would be enough to convince them.'

POV Vesuvius:

A concentrated white and blue beam of compressed flames with small golden trails was beaming from the sky filled with thick black clouds of smoke like a beam from an alien ship.

It went straight towards the ground, drawing a bright glowing line from the sky towards the ground.

The beams were burning against the reflective surface of shining ice at the bottom of the expansive ice-filled valley walled off by tall, gorgeous white peaks.

The bright light refracted in every direction, with a loud humming resounding throughout the valley as the beam rhythmically pulsed.

There was no steam, just a bright light flooding from the place where the beam was hitting.

The beam kept blasting against the ice, with a bright glow and flames coming from a place of impact, making it impossible for the dragon to see what was going on.

Vesuvius already started to feel like running out of breath, forcing him to cut energy from his glands and magical squares rotating in his mouth.

The beam vanished in an instant, with the whole valley dimming down. Everything instantly turned quiet, except for the loud sound of flapping coming down from the sky.

The two brightly glowing reverse-slitted eyes looked down, their gaze piercing through the layers of clouds and focusing on the place where the beam was hitting.

There was a small round hole in the ice leading into the mass of ice. It was so thin that Vesuvius couldn't stuff his tail or claw inside.

Also, it was only deep enough for a human child to hide in.

The dragon felt frustration growing in his heart after he spent hours trying to get through the ice.

He had already tried everything except trying to bypass the ice by drilling through the ground and unleashing his corium magma.

His eyes moved towards a cracks-filled circle in another half of the lake. He has already tried the brute force of his explosive spells and the concentrated power of his beams.

'Both of them work. It is just that they are too slow, and I don't have the time to slowly drill through this layer of ice, that is, whoever knows how thick. I need to go and settle with my minions before the update. It would feel a little bit anticlimactic if I just vanished.'

He resolutely looked towards the shiny ice that looked like taunting him with its still pristine and brilliant looks. He flapped his wings, rising higher than before, 'Just wait. I will return and teach you a lesson!' he said internally.

It was unfortunate that he had to leave the treasure there and leave for now, but at the same time, he felt like it wasn't such a big problem, 'It isn't like anyone can just come here and dig it out before me. It will safely wait here for me.'

The dragon slowly rose above the clouds, his golden eyes scanning into the distance, 'Maybe I should visit that wyrm. I can likely get some information out of them.'

With his power quickly growing, he no longer felt intimidated by the wyrm. He doubted he could win a fight, but at least he wouldn't break under their aura.

He shook his head. The almost unbreakable ice was a wake-up call that he needed, 'I was going over my head recently, I have become too arrogant, but I am not even close to the top. This ice is so resistant... How powerful was the winter dragon in their lives? They were not even an ancient dragon, yet they reached this level of power.'

The dragon flapped his wings, his body quickly propelling towards the horizon, with his destination being his tower.

POV Brown:

A young man in his early twenties or late teens with short brown hair, wearing a pyjama, was lying in his bed in an unassuming, modernly furnished room.

The blinders on his windows were shut close, making his whole room dark. The only light source was a dim light from a small opaque tablet in his hands.

Wrappers from chips and empty cans of energy drinks were piling on the floor, with dirty clothes sewn all over his room.

"Haha!" he was laughing as he read through comments on his tablet. All of them had only one thing in common.

They were all talking about the mysterious boss that he was documenting.

His eyes were especially stopped on one comment with hundreds of upvotes that caught his attention.

|| Browny, are you blind?! This can't be a regular wyrm! Their body is too bulky and strong looking for that. They are either some rare deviant or at least a lesser dragon. To think that you noobs even tried to kill it is so funny :D ||

Still, there were plenty more comments under it that disagreed with it.

|| No, the wyrm is just armoured as a volcanic variant, making them look bulkier and physically stronger than they are. It's just an optical illusion, and you are the blind one for thinking that a dragon would just spawn in the middle of the former beginner zone! ||

|| No, you are both wrong! It is neither a dragon nor a wyrm but a chilli sausage! ||

Dozens of commenters were arguing, making Brown grin, 'This is what I need! This kind of content will bring me, followers.'

Brown decided, his mind burning with expectation, 'I will turn this into a mystery and record myself investigating it! I can even spread some weird fake clues to make it more entertaining and mysterious!'
