62 Chapter 62

A giant dragon with a length of two and a half vans placed in line, with his massive wings almost covering the whole cave with their enormous wingspan. His entire body was covered in a black stone that gained slight metallic lustre and was full of sharp protrusions. Small ravines littered his armour glowing with a bright orange light of magma. Small blue cracks of lightning were forming small arcs all over the armour.

On his head were three long horns made of material that looked like iron close to melting, glowing in bright, almost white light. Small arcs of lightning were circling all around the horns. Two of them were growing from the side of his head; they were long and curved upwards. The third one grew from his snout and was much shorter and straighter. Lightning kept striking between three horns, forming something akin to a crown of lightning.

All the way from his head to the end of his tail went a long line of glowing orange spikes with arcs of lightning rhythmically dancing between them. His wings were covered in branching fiery veins glowing in shades of red and orange.

From his body was rising a cloud of thick black smoke, with blue electrical sparks and occasional small arc jumping in it. A long black tail covered in armour was coiled on the ground. On its tip was a sharp spear-like protrusion glowing in bright orange light from its immense heat. It was split in half by free space, and lightning kept sparking between both teeth-like sides of the protrusion.

The dragoon opened his eyes, revealing his reptilian-like irises glowing in weak light. He moved, causing the cave to shake as his massive tail struck a wall.

Vesuvius immediately noticed that the stone surface of his lair was much redder than normally, 'Huh? Am I radiating even more heat than before... It mentioned upgrade of basic volcano dragon abilities.'

Charged Volcanic Armour (LV 3): An additional defensive layer that grows over the existing scales. Strong against piercing, slashing and magical damage. Absorbs blunt damage at the price of getting heavily damaged. To repair major damage user needs to shed his old armour and regrow a new one. Smaller damage will mend itself by leaking lava through cracks in the armour. Hardness depends on ability level and defence stat. The surface of armour is hot, causing fire damage over time to enemies in close proximity.

(New!) Electrical charge is slowly building in it, shocking enemies hitting it. The stored electrical charge can be released at once in powerful all-directional shock nova.

Charged Volcanic Smoke Glands (LV 2) :

Glands produce thick fumes that make it hard to breathe in close proximity to the dragon. The fumes are hot, causing small fire damage over time to surrounding enemies.

(New!) The smoke contains special magically enchanted ash that can easily create an electrical charge, shocking enemies entering the smoke.

New racial abilities unlocked:

Lightning Horns (LV 1): Three superconductive horns that can easily gather electrical charge from a body or from mana to launch a powerful lightning attack.

The dragon stood up carefully, walking out of his lair; luckily, when he built it, he made it with some consideration for his growth.

'I will need to move my lair later... too many people know its location.'

He looked at the opposite peak and opened his much bigger mouth eagerly, wanting to test his theory about the conductivity of magma.

A bright orange glow radiated out of his mouth, and a thick stream of magma that was closer to yellow than before from the increased temperature. It streaked across a valley under the mountain and splashed against the opposite peak, letting the magma flow down in a small waterfall. The dragon's eyes went wide as he wasn't expecting increased pressure allowing it to reach so far.

The blue electric spark and tendrils passed through the dragon as he discharged build-up electricity. As if listening to his will, the electricity entered the magma stream, creating lightning arcs along its stream. The lightning reached the peak where the magma kept splattering. The electricity crackled as electrical arcs spread through the stream.

'Magma is supposed to be conducive but not this much... I have a primary affinity with both magma and lightning and a secondary one with electricity. Is it possible that it bent the laws to my will to allow this?' For a long time, he noticed that elements with which he had strong affinities always kept bending the rules surrounding them to help him achieve his goals.

After he packed his whole hoard into the pouch, the dragon jumped from the cliff to meet with his minions for the last time before leaving for his expedition up the river, 'I will be gone for a while, it would be foolish to leave my treasure here unguarded.'

The massive dragon flew through the sky, electricity crackling around him with each flap of his electrifying wings. If he looked before like a dark smoke cloud from the ground, he now looked like a storm cloud due to the dark smoke surrounding him and lightning striking across it.
