Chapter 30. [YOLO!]

“So, I’m doing well with all my classmates now.”

I was chatting about how things were going at school while I’m doing my [2nd Ukrainian Language Class].

Talking too much about studying would be exhausting. It was a bit of a breather.

>I’m glad you got it all sorted out.

>Even adults have a hard time remembering, but elementary school students are amazing!

>Iroha-chan is in elementary school too, you know.

“Well, I’m special, you know. I wish my teacher, who represents adults, could have handled it a little faster.”

>She’s more of a teacher than a teacher.

>Teachers are working hard. But they don’t have enough time to do their job.

>They don’t even get paid overtime.

“I see. I can’t say I blame the teachers, although I am grateful for that.”

Just because a new student is coming doesn’t mean the teacher’s normal work will be decreased.

But she took time out of her work to make me a handmade print.

“Huh? Isn’t she a good teacher in general?”

>Teachers have it rough.

>Accepting a new student means they have to do many other things, too.

>In this case, it seemed to be a very sudden transfer.

“I was only looking at things from the child’s point of view. Next time, I should say thank you to the teacher.”

>That’s not a child’s line! wwww

>I’ve never heard anyone say that except at graduation ceremonies.

>I’ve never been told that not even at graduation.

“And well, I know I’ve gone a long way off-topic, but there is a huge shortage of people who can use Ukrainian in Japan right now. So I’d be happy if you guys could learn it too. And let’s watch Ukrainian-speaking VTubers together! Let’s increase the number of Ukrainian-speaking VTubers!”

There are a few VTubers in Ukraine.

I’ve been looking around for VTubers in that area recently, to get my money’s worth, “since I’ve learned so much about them.”.

>LOL

>I’m not sure if that’s the point after all.

>I can speak Ukrainian, but this class will be very useful.

“Oh, so I’m looking at people who can already use it! If you’d like, please take on the translation job. Right now, I’m translating Japanese teaching materials into Ukrainian. It’s not much, but it pays well.”

>Wow!

>So this will help the new student?

>Thank you, Iroha-chan. I didn’t know such a thing existed.

Transfer students have to study Japanese in addition to their regular classes.

That means that they will inevitably fall behind in their regular classes.

That’s where the Ukrainian version of the Japanese teaching materials comes in.

By comparing the Ukrainian version with the original materials, the students could study Japanese while keeping up with their regular classes as much as possible.

I am not sure how effective this will be.

However, if it frees up my time and allows me to watch the video during my breaks, all the better.

That’s the only reason I advertised it.

There is no other reason. It was never for anyone in particular.

“So that’s it for today’s lecture. Otsukare-ta-, Arige-ta-.”

>Otsukare-ta-.

>Otsukare-ta-.

>Otsukare-ta-.

I close the delivery frame and exhale, “Whew.”.

The slapstick of the new semester is over, and life is finally settling down.

“…… Well.”

There is one thing I need to face soon.

I picked up my smartphone and dialed a certain someone.

“Hello, Ah-nee? Do you have time tomorrow?”

I called Ah-nee and asked her if she had time tomorrow.

“Sorry to bother you.”

I stepped into Ah-nee’s room with familiar steps.

She welcomed me with her usual high-spiritedness.

“Oh my, what’s wrong? I thought something was wrong. It’s so unusual to get a phone call from Iroha-chan!”

If you ask me. There it is.

Or rather, it’s the first time since I became Iroha.

My sister was always on the side of pulling, and I was on the side of being pulled.

But I couldn’t go on like this forever.

“Ah, I want Ah-nee to receive this.”

“Umm, why a passbook?”

The bankbook had my earnings as a VTuber written in it.

I had one thing I had decided to do with my earnings that I hadn’t even told my channel’s viewers about.

That is to pay back the debt.

Ah-nee financed my debut as a VTuber.

She told me I didn’t need to worry about the money because it was coming from the earnings I earned from her streaming.

However…

“I found that out when I received my earnings for the first time as a VTuber.”

It’s true at the time, I was the catalyst for the buzz.

However, no matter how I calculate it, the earnings I received from those activities did not reach the amount of money that Ah-nee had invested in me.

Or, to begin with.

“You said it was for tax purposes, but that’s a lie, right?”

“Oh, so you found out.”

Ah-nee stuck out her tongue as if she had given up.

I knew it.

“Oh, but it wasn’t an outright lie! I was exaggerating a little. I still don’t think I can accept it. That is money that Iroha-chan earned.”

I don’t know why my mother, Ah-nee, and the people around me are like this.

Why do the people around me not want to accept money like this?

“……Why?”

“What is that a question about?”

“Why did you fund me? Why did you decide to debut me as a VTuber?”

It’s that simple! Because I thought it would be fun! I thought I’d like to do more videos with you!”

It was a very typical sisterly reason.

She is always faithful to her desires.

“One more thing. Because I was worried about you.”

“Worried?”

So the last reason was unexpected.

I was happy enough to be able to watch a VTuber’s stream.

“Because, Iroha-chan, you said you weren’t interested in reality. You were like, “I don’t care about my life either. It’s as if it’s someone else’s business.”.”

“……!”

“You didn’t want to get involved with anyone unless they were willing to get involved with you like Mai, right? I guess it’s more like you don’t feel the need to be involved. You looked at me like I was a stranger. No, no, you looked at me like I was a tool.”

“Well, that’s…”

I was indeed trying to take advantage of her.

I was trying to earn money for premiums.

And I wasn’t interested in reality.

Because this is my life.

“I haven’t seen my friend in a while, and she looks at me like I’m a ‘different person’? How could I not be worried? I was also genuinely frustrated.”

“Frustrated?”

“Yes!”

Ah-nee smiled confidently.

She pierced me with a straight gaze, saying, “That’s why I decided.”

“I’ll tell you – [Life is so interesting!].”
