I have used swords and spears a lot when I was in another world but I’m an amateur when it comes to kendo.

A sword is to kill an opponent while kendo is a sport. They are completely different things.

This is evident in the rules for judging “ippon” which we heard in class.

TN: Ippon is a point or score you made in a match

Ippon is awarded when the three elements of spirit, stance, and continued alertness are in perfect harmony.

It doesn’t matter whether the opponent is dead or not.

This is so unlike actual combat where the goal is to defeat the enemy without getting injured.

What should I do?

First of all, stance is tricky.

The basic mid-stance of kendo is different from what is ingrained in my body.

For the time being, I tried holding it in mid-stance as what is taught in the class but it felt very uncomfortable.

Maa, it’s not like it’s impossible to do.

Kakogawa’s lips smirked on one side of his face.

He probably thinks he can easily defeat an amateur otaku.

However, I easily dodged to the side.

「Eh? You dodge?」

The referee was surprised.

Normally, I would have been hit by the shinai(bamboo sword).

By the way, I didn’t use my physical strengthening magic.

My physique has changed but the skills I’ve acquired at the risk of my life won’t betray me.

I’ve also done muscle training.

I evaded Kakogawa’s strikes one after another.

This guy….he’s deliberately aiming at places where there’s no protective gear.

He’s really a bastard.

Well, the opponent is full of gaps but….

Kendo is striking and not slashing, right?

Like this?

—-boommm!

When I targeted and hit Kakogawa’s torso, a sound as if something exploded resounded.

「「「What?」」」

The eyes of everyone watching turned into dots.

「Guh…..w-what’s that shock…..?」

Even Kakogawa was stunned.

If he’s not wearing any gear, that hit would have broken two or three ribs but a kendo armor is good after all.

Also, wasn’t that an ippon?

I looked at the referee.

「C-continue.」

If I was serious, it would have been powerful enough to kill someone but that would cause a lot of trouble.

I heard in class that it’s hard to get an ippon by hitting the torso to begin with.

「I never thought that you were an experienced player. I was caught off guard.」

Kakogawa was saying some excuses but he still misunderstood.

If I were an experienced player, I would have scored an ippon.

Well, I’m still having difficulty in adjusting but, should I use a kote? Or maybe men?
