Although I had been to social gatherings as a saintess with my poor manners, I had been forgiven for any misbehavior because I was from another world.

However, as queen, I must set an example for everyone. I would be responsible for socializing and diplomatic affairs, and no matter how I thought about it, there was no way that I would be able to fulfill that role.

“But Alvin-sama and I aren’t very compatible, and I’m not the kind of person who would do well as a queen.”

“Nina, the former saintess, has a good image among the people, so there’s no problem. Both my father and mother also liked Nina very much. It’s fine if you just act as a decoration. I will take care of everything.”

Alvin-sama really seemed to be able to do everything well, but I was sure that it would not be such an easy matter.

Alvin-sama smiled embarrassedly when he saw me lost in thought.

“I’m sorry for being so selfish and startling you. I was going to tell Nina when things were a little calmer. Please don’t worry too much about it.”

“Still, I’d be happy if you fell in love with me, even if it’s only slowly. I really would do anything for Nina.”

He gently scooped up a strand of my hair and dropped a kiss.

He really was like a prince in a picture book, and it was shocking. It was absolutely ridiculous that someone so beautiful and perfect could love me.

I wondered if this was just another compulsion of the game, and then he asked, “Did you just think of something else?”. I was afraid that he could really read my mind.

Alvin-sama took off his jacket and put it on the sofa, and then he approached me again.

“Nina, I know it was my fault for taking the initiative about the marriage, but what happened earlier was really sad and hurtful.”

“What happened earlier?”

“I didn’t know that you could think I would easily marry another woman and the fact that you congratulated me. I guess my feelings for Nina hadn’t been properly conveyed yet.”

“Alvin-sama, you’re too close.”

“I’m getting closer.”

Even at such close range, his skin looked like porcelain, and there was nothing to complain about. Everything about him was terrifyingly beautiful.

“How can I make you understand that Nina is the only one for me? Ah, that’s right. Shall I engrave Nina’s name on my body?”

“T-That, that’s a bit scary… I mean, even if you don’t do that, I’ve got the message well enough! I’m really sorry!”

“Is that so? I’m glad to hear that.”

I couldn’t help but let my true feelings overflow from my mouth. His feelings were too heavy. I looked silly in his jewel-like amethyst eyes.

And yet, Alvin-sama said I was “cute” and laughed. It was absolutely ridiculous. Why did he like me so much?

“Nina, I wish you would comfort me.”

The tips of our noses touched each other. We were within breathing distance of each other, and I couldn’t even move my fingertips anymore.
