I Want To Know

It had been two weeks since I first started teaching Erica holy magic. The two of them had come many times in between their busy work schedules.

“Nina-san, I look forward to working with you again today!”

“Me too.”

The other day, Erica asked me to call her by her name and stop using honorifics, so I did just that. And to Theo as well.

When I told Erica, “Just Nina is fine,” she refused because she was now my student. After her control over her magic had gotten better, she asked me sincerely to call her Erica while holding both my hands. She was so cute that I thought I was going to fall in love with her.

She was a really bright and straightforward girl, and I wanted her to always be happy.

“If you’d like, you can use this as a reference when practicing alone.”

“…. Did you write all of this, Nina-san?”

“Yes. My handwriting is not very good, so please excuse me.”

With that thought in mind, I handed her my notes on holy magic that I had prepared after staying up all night for five days drinking a lot of potions.

This was a compilation of my past practice methods, tips on how to practice by imagining the magic, and magic that worked well with each demon. I had filled it with pictures and letters, so it became quite thick.

“…. Erica?”

“O-Oh my God….!”

Erica looked at the stack of papers for a while, then burst into tears and hugged me tightly.

“N-Nina-san, thank you very much… I’ve always been so bad at everything I do, and everyone always seems to immediately think that no matter what they teach me, it’s not worth it.”

“…. Hmm.”

“That’s why I’m so happy that you’re trying your best to teach me without giving up…”

I patted Erica on the back as she cried. Although she was clumsy, I knew that she was a hardworking person, even though we had only known each other for a short time.

“I will definitely work hard and get better…!”

“Yes, let’s work hard together.”

I couldn’t help but genuinely pray that her efforts would be rewarded.

Theo, who had been watching us, eventually turned away and rubbed his eyes with his arms.

Even though Theo’s way of speaking was harsh, he had been watching over Erica by her side for a long time. He must have had his own feelings about it.

“All right, let’s continue our practice when the two of you stop crying. Let’s practice healing magic today.”

“Yes!”

“…. I’m not crying, you idiot.”

“Fufu, is that so?”

After that, we moved to the woods to practice. I was beginning to think that Erica would be a very powerful saintess if she could just learn how to control her power.

“Thank you so much, Nina-san! I feel like I have a much better grasp of my magic than before.”

“Good. Keep practicing so you don’t forget what it feels like.”

“I’ll do my best!”

After practicing for nearly half a day, I decided to call it a day. Erica pumped her fists so energetically that I couldn’t help but smile at how cute she looked.

When Theo tapped my shoulder, he smiled brightly and gave me a thumbs-up with his other hand.

“You’ll have to wait a little longer for that list of yours! I’ll definitely find you a man who will make you happy!”

“Ah, thank you.”

I had completely forgotten about that list.

It seemed that Theo was quite serious about choosing someone for me, and I felt somewhat sorry for him. Anyway, I still wouldn’t change my mind about how I would ask the men on the list to do some work for me.

After seeing them off, who said they would come again soon, I started making magic tools, as I hadn’t been able to work for the past few days.
