” Zero onii-chan, are you okay?”

“Oh, sorry!”

I was so focused on checking my status that I forgot about Sophie. I might have kept her waiting for quite a long time.

“So what species did you become, Zero onii-chan?”

“That’s…”

I thought about it for a while after I said this much. My Thunder Beast Spirit King is obviously a bizarre species. I wondered if I should be honest about it. The question came to mind.

“Thunder Beast Spirit King… my new race is the Thunder Beast Spirit King.”

After much thought, I decided to be honest. There were many ways to deceive her, such as the Thunder King and the Thunder Spirit. However, I decided that there was no need to break my promise to Sophie that we would be honest with each other. Well, even I don’t know what kind of race I am, so even if I told her, she wouldn’t know anything.

“Thunder Beast Spirit King?”

“Yes.”

Sophie was still puzzled. I don’t know. Well, that’s what people usually say.

“Simply put, the king of Thunder beasts, Thunder spirits and humans that use Thunder? Is that what you’re saying?”

“Maybe?”

I still think it’s amazing that Sophie can analyze so well just by hearing the name. Now that I think about it, I guess my race has the same effect as my name.

“I’m glad you were able to evolve into a strong race!”

“Well, yeah…”

To be honest, I still don’t know if it was a good idea. For now, it depends on how much my status will increase when I level up.

“So, should I tell you my race?”

“Yes.”

Then Sophie looked a little more prepared. Then she took a breath and started to speak.

“My race is majin.”

“Majin?”

“…Yes.”

The word “Majin” didn’t ring a bell at all. I’ve heard of the demon tribe since I was little, but I’ve never heard of the majin race. I wanted to ask what the majin race was and how it differed from the demon tribe, but I also wondered if I should ask. (TN: the previously mentioned demons (mazoku) and majin ( ma-jin zoku) can both be translated to mean demon, hence Zero’s confusion)

“So, should I explain the difference between me and the demon tribe?”

“Uh-huh.”

As if she could see through my feelings, Sophie began to explain the differences between a majin and the demon tribe.

“The first point is that monsters that are closer in appearance to humans, beasts, elves and dwarves are the demon race.”

“Yes.”

I think I learned that when Sophie was teaching me how to study. Some demons are able to communicate, but they are demons only because they resemble humans in appearance. That’s why they are the enemies of humans, the book said. I don’t think that what was written in the book was absolutely correct, but they are definitely my enemy right now.

“And the humans who are closer to demons, that’s the majin.”

“………”

I didn’t know how to comment on that. I don’t have any dislike for the fact that Sophie is closer to demons. But I didn’t know what to say to her when she said that a little sadly.

“So, the majin is a race that is good at magic.”

Originally, humans had studied the use of magic by demons so that they could use it themselves. The chanting is what made this possible. However, with various skills, the chanting can be omitted or discarded…. That’s why the demon tribe, which is close to the monsters, have more magic power and their magic is more powerful.

“Thank you.”

I thought this was what I had to tell Sophie. Sophie must have evolved into a majin, wanting to be stronger for me. …… I’m sure that’s right, right? So was it okay for Sophie to be that race? Or was there no other better race? I don’t think Sophie evolved into the majin race by choice. So, I think I should thank her.

“You’re welcome.”

Sophie said with a relieved look on her face. She was probably thinking about what she would do if she was rejected. I would never have rejected her for something like that. She wouldn’t reject me no matter what I looked like.

“Can the majin race control demons and stuff?”

I decided to ask what I was curious about as long as it wasn’t rude. I felt bad to shy away from Sophie.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future, but for now, it’s impossible.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Also, I don’t have the urge to kill or destroy like the demons.”

“I see…”

I was very relieved to hear that she doesn’t have the urge to kill and destroy. If she doesn’t have those urges, which can be said to be the biggest drawback of the demon race, I can rest easy.

“It’s just…”

When I said that, Sophie put her left hand on the bed where I was sitting and brought her face close to mine.

“The desire I originally had has grown stronger.”

“Hey, hey. ……”

Then Sophie said this while putting her right index finger to her lips. My eyes were fixed on Sophie’s lips with that gesture. It was not the kind of sexiness a thirteen-year-old should be showing. I’m not immune to that kind of thing, so it was all I could do to keep my eyes off her and say so.

“By the way, Zero onii-chan?”

“What is it…”

I still hadn’t stopped my heart from pounding and I couldn’t look directly at Sophie, who was still so close. Unfortunately I can’t run away. Because I just woke up, i’m stuck and can’t get out of this bed even if I wanted to…. In short, there is no escape.

“When are you going to give me a hug?”

“Ah…”

This is the one I’d been putting off because I had to choose what to evolve to…. Oh man… I completely forgot…….
