CH 85

“Shana, wake up.”

“Nnn…?”

I said I would wake her up in half an hour but I let her sleep for about an hour and a half, I couldn’t wake her up when I saw how comfortable she looked sleeping. From that point on, Shana and I kept watch.

“Oh, it’s midnight.”

“I’ll go wake up Sofia…”

Then Shana went to wake Sophie.

“It’s Zero niisama’s turn.”

“Thanks.”

After a while, Shana and Sophie came back together and took over the watch and I went into my tent.

“Time to sleep.”

Even if I am an insomniac, it’s certainly better to sleep so I decided to change into something easy to sleep in.

“Mu…”

But when I went into my sleeping bag … No I had a faint feeling from the moment I stepped into this tent.

“Sophie slept here …”

I could smell Sophie while I was in the tent and it was a little too warm to have been empty the entire time.

“Even if the tent is fine, the sleeping bag is …”

The inside of the sleeping bag was already warm and the scent of Sophie was overwhelmed the scent of the new bag that I had just bought.

“Hmm …”

And most importantly, this is a deliberate attempt to make it obvious that she used it. It would be easy for Sophie to remove her traces with magic but she made it clear to me that she dared to use it. For a moment, I thought about sleeping in Sophie’s sleeping bag, but I don’t think I should be in a woman’s tent. However, when I entered my sleeping bag, Sophie’s smell was so soothing that I immediately went to sleep forgetting all my anger.

“Let’s sleep …”

And I fell asleep with the illusion of being wrapped in Sophie’s arms.

“Zeros … get up.”

“Mm … change?”

“Yes…”

“All right…”

Shana came to wake me up, so I switched places with Shana and went to Sophie. Huh? Why didn’t Shana come out of my tent? No way she’s not going to sleep in my tent, is she?

“Zero-niisama, did you sleep well?”

“I slept well thanks to you!”

“Mmm…I’m glad, then.”

I was being a little sarcastic with Sophie but it didn’t seem to have any effect. From then on, Sophie and I kept watch and it gradually became brighter by 5 a.m., and by 6 a.m. when it was time to wake Shana, it was completely bright.

“Then I’ll prepare breakfast, so please wake up Shana.”

“Roger that.”

Then I came to the front of Sophie’s tent to wake up Shana, but there was no sign of anyone. I called out to her but she didn’t respond at all, I went to check my tent just to be sure after I called out once more.

“Why are you here?”

And when I opened my tent, Shana was sleeping happily in my sleeping bag.

“Shana … get up.”

“Nn? Ah, Zero… Good morning…”

“Good morning.”

When I called out to her, Shana poked her upper body out of the sleeping bag, rubbed her eyes and greeted me.

“Why are you here?”

“I figured I could sleep right here.”

“Ah… I see…”

I couldn’t say anything in return because I too fell asleep fast in my sleeping bag after Sophie.

“Sophie’s preparing breakfast.”

“All right…”

I left Shana, who was still drowsy and headed for Sophie. Shana was sleeping in her nightgown, not quite a nightgown but a comfortable outfit, so she would need to change.

“What’s for breakfast?”

“I’m making soup right now.”

“Great.”

Sophie didn’t cook at night because she didn’t want the light of the fire and the smell of the food to attract monsters but she could cook now because everyone was awake and rested.

“Good morning Sophia…”

“Good morning.”

When Shana came out, she and I cleaned up the tent and other things until the food was ready.

“Itadakimasu!”

“Bon Appetit.” (Sophie)

Then we ate the soup Sophie had made and the bread she had brought with her. I’d never seen Sophie cook before but the vegetable soup she made was very good. The deliciousness may have been due to the atmosphere but it was very nice and gentle, which was good for the morning. 

And the bread was white; it seems that there are only two kinds of bread in this world: black bread and white bread. Generally, three pieces of black bread cost about one copper coin, but one piece of white bread costs one or two copper coins, making white bread a bit more expensive. But as an ex-Japanese and a nobleman, I don’t like hard black bread so I prefer to eat white bread even if I have to pay a little more.

Although if I could develop a new type of bread, I might be able to get a knowledge cheat (title) but I’ve never been interested in making bread, so I don’t know anything about it. The only thing I can think of is to add something like raisins or some other fruit but I’m sure you can find that kind of bread somewhere if you look for it.

“Okay! Let’s start day two!”

“Okay!”

“Nn!”

After eating Sophie’s delicious cooking, we put away our magic tools, cleaned up the pitfalls and walls we had built around us and headed out to find the Lizardmen.
