Chapter 7-39. Nearby Dungeon

On our way back, Alena and I came to a dungeon where the C rank party is highly recommended.

It was still a bit of a challenge to get back to the cave entrance, but the map Alena had made was accurate, so we made it back in about two hours.

If we had gone straight ahead without hesitation, we could have conquered the cave this quickly.

However, without a map, it would have been impossible.

Thus, we came to the front of the dungeon, the nearest one …….

This is also an unsupervised dungeon, so there are no stalls or anything like that.

It is just a cave with a big gaping hole in it.

I think if they do business in this kind of place, they might be able to sell a certain amount of goods.

I guess merchants stay away from this area purely because it is dangerous.

It could be dangerous, and it’s not impossible that monsters could appear at any moment.

Let’s see, let’s check what we have now.

This is a continuous dungeon crawl, and we might be running low on something.

For starters, a lantern is a must, so we carry a lot of fuel with us.

Unless it breaks, the light won’t go out.

Luckily, Alena has skills specialized for medium range, and I have the haze manipulation that allows me to know the location of all the monsters.

Even in the worst case scenario, if we were to get into a close encounter, I would be able to protect Alena without any problem, even if she had the lantern, because my current speed is very fast.

These lanterns are awesome, though, aren’t they?

No matter how much you swing it around, the light doesn’t go out.

Is this also a magic tool similar to our bags?

Even if we were to be a little reckless, we would be very grateful for a light that would not go out.

The next is food.

We have plenty of food.

Although we only have portable food, we don’t want to use fire as much as possible in the dungeon.

The rest is just tools for mapping, water, ……, and stuff like that.

I can heal myself, so I don’t need any recovery items, and I got enough mana potions before that I don’t need any more.

Oh, and I can make water, so maybe I didn’t actually need it.

What else do we need?

I’ve already conquered a dungeon recommended for the D rank party with just this stuff, so I guess everything should be fine now.

“Okay, let’s go!”

[You’re so enthusiastic, aren’t you? Making a map.]

Are we trying to conquer a dungeon or make a map?

However, this is a dungeon where C rank is recommended.

Since we’re C rank now, I think we’re actually barely getting by…….

You never know until you try it, right?

Alena is also working hard, so let’s give it our best shot.

As Alena went into the dungeon ahead of me, I followed her.

As we proceeded through the gaping hole in the cave, the passage became narrower and narrower until there was only room for about three people in a row.

Since Alena is still small, there is plenty of room for her, but I might not be good at fighting in a place that is …… this narrow.

I’m not good at fighting in tight spaces.

I think I can beat most of the enemies if I shoot at them in a dense group.

Alena’s skills should also make it easier to narrow down the target.

Fighting in different situations is a good way to learn, isn’t it?

Well, there seems to be no monsters at the moment, so let’s just keep on going.

The path is mostly straight on the first floor.

Sometimes the path split, but it soon came to a dead end.

The deeper we went, the more it increased, but still there was no continuous split in the path.

“It’s kind of boring, isn’t it?”

[There were no monsters, no reactions. Is this really a dungeon where the C rank party is recommended?]

No, but the dungeon we all went to had a strong enemy at the last minute.

Considering that, we shouldn’t let our guard down just because there are few monsters.

But I don’t see any reaction at all from the haze manipulation.

There’s just a single straight cave that goes on and on. ……!

[Alena!]

“What’s wrong?”

I immediately poke Alena with my tail to make her stop.

After that, I deployed a pneumatic barrier in front of her and waited for the enemy to come.

I saw a lone monster rushing at us from the back of the cave at great speed.

The figure was almost as big as the entire passageway of this cave.

With nowhere to avoid it, we have no choice but to endure it like this.

There is a small fork in the road a little further back, but I can’t verbally convey this to her.

Even while I’m trying to communicate it with a gesture or something, she kind of gets to this point.

Doddoddoddoddoddoddo!!!!!

“Oh, that’s a big footstep. ……”

[More so than I expected!]

As I thought, the speed at which it runs is unusual.

Let’s deploy at least one more pneumatic barrier on this one.

The transparent wall so that we can see the opponent’s figure clearly.

Alena and I were able to see the monster that was rushing toward us.

A familiar red-furred boar was charging toward us, radiating a clear intent to kill.

[“Red boar!?”]

Isn’t that an S-rank monster!

This is that one!

Since it could only come at us in a straight line, it was supposed to be easy to defeat, so it became a dungeon recommended for the C-rank party!?

Bullcrap! Adventurers and guilds should do a little more research before setting a rank range!

“[Heavy weight!]”

Alena points her hand at the red boa and activates her skill.

It was easy enough to aim at the red boar, since it was coming in a straight line.

It seems that the skill was properly activated, and the Red Boar gradually slowed down and finally seemed to resist the heavy gravity by putting its feet on the ground.

Alena’s skill is amazing.

If this is the case, it will be easy──.

CHRAAANG!!!

[Whooa?!]

“That surprised me!”

One of the two pneumatic barrier was shattered.

Why it broke, I don’t know.

The Red Boar had completely stopped and showed no signs of attacking.

But the pneumatic barrier was broken.

I checked the surroundings, but the only reaction I could see in the haze was this guy’s, so I didn’t think another monster had broken this barrier.

Then, did the Red Boar break it?

Some kind of skill ……?

[! FLYING BASH!]

Well, I remember when I met Yurie and Roze, they mentioned something about a Red Boar’s skill.

I had no idea what kind of skill it was, and I had never seen it before, but …… was this that one ……?

Hmmm, guess I still don’t know what it’s all about!

But it’s scary that even though I’ve completely blocked the movement, there’s enough of a follow-up attack coming to break my pneumatic barrier.

Let’s be really careful with this one here …….

Seeing Red Boar completely knocked out, Alena pulled out a knife.

“Dismantle it,……!”

No, no, no, let me eat it!

Come on, please, this guy is an S-ranked monster!
