Routine

[[Man, you are so cute Risa-chan.]]

[[Come on……you are always flattering me Hideyori-san…..]]

[[Not at all, I’ve always been Risa-chan’s fan after all!]]

[[You’re such a funny person.]]

Eh?

Why does Akechi Hideyori suddenly start flirting with the protagonist’s sister right in front of Emi?

Scenes that made me raise such a question kept on appearing. And after that, as though the game was trying to clue me in even further, multiple scenes of Akechi Hideyori’s various evil deeds began to play.

Eventually, I arrived at a horrible scene where it was revealed that Emi was enslaved by Hideyori’s Gift to play the role of his girlfriend.

The bright atmosphere the game had in the beginning completely vanished and the protagonist is about to kill Hideyori.

The personality of Hideyori overlaps a lot with the former kendo club captain who ruined Toyotomi-kun’s life.

“………Die, do something that I couldn’t and take revenge on that piece of trash.”

I furiously clicked through the dialogues.

On the screen, Takeru beat Hideyori to a pulp and killed him.

After that, Takeru took Risa away to a place no one knew them and started a new life with her. Perhaps because they are blood-related siblings, the ending gave you a bitter-sweet conclusion.

“……, did he have to kill Emi like that?”

Hideyori was a piece of trash that deserved to die.

Emi turned out to be a character that can splash water on a heroine or slap them with a vulgar smile on her face but even though she was not the character I thought her to be, I still couldn’t stop hoping for a better future for her since I kind of overlapping myself with her a bit.

Moreover, even her dependence on her boyfriend was caused by said boyfriend’s manipulation. The fact that he did not even have a shred of affection for her made me want to cry even more…….

As someone who knows what it’s like to be dependent on someone, I wish her all the best.

In the scene, I also didn’t expect Takeru to prioritize talking to Hideyori instead of rescuing Emi who was drowning in the river either.

Even if she couldn’t be saved, I still wanted him to do more……..

“But this is fun! I understand why Toyotomi-kun got so hooked now. The gap in the storytelling really made the game stand out after all!”

When I returned to the title screen, there were several heroines there including Risa so it looks like you can romance different girls depending on the choices you made through the game.

The genre itself is called Romance Game after all. (TLN: For western audiences, it’s Dating Sim)

“………..Emi is not on the title screen though.”

Other than Emi, Tsugaru Madoka is also absent.

Does that mean I can not romance them?

“No, Emi’s fate might just be particularly horrible in Risa route. There must be a route where she can be saved right.”

I start the game from the beginning with a new save and select different choices than I did in my Risa route playthrough.

The fact that such casual choices presented to me in the story can affect the characters’ lives so much felt unpleasantly real to me.

If I hadn’t brought the writing utensil to Minako that day, I wouldn’t have known Toyotomi-kun and I wouldn’t have felt the way I do toward him right now.

Just thinking that such a possibility existed sent shivers to my whole body.

I’ve finished every route in [Breaking the Chain of Sadness].

The game’s story ended up being both gruesome and shocking in contrast to how lighthearted it started out. It was fun.

“Still, I couldn’t save Emi……”

The scenes in which she kept appearing as an irritating villainess gradually increased throughout the story and in the end, she wound up dying just like Hideyori in every ending.

When I looked up how the other players think of Hideyori, it seems that everyone was on the same page on how loathsome this character called Akechi Hideyori is.

It was a matter of course. Rather, it’s understandable why everybody hates him……

Then, I found one curious comment.

[[The second and the final entry were also interesting. It was a fun series.]]

“There are continuations!?”

I want to see this game Toyotomi-kun played through to the end.

Besides, I have come to get addicted to [Breaking the Chain of Sadness] myself.

I was fascinated by the worldview it provided.

After that, I bought the second and the last games and installed them on my PC.

“Rather than a sequel, it’s like they reset the slate clean huh.”

Although it is supposed to be a sequel, the protagonist Takeru did not end up with anyone from the first game.

Akechi Hideyori who died at the end of every route is also still alive perhaps because he hasn’t caused any tragedy in the first game’s timeline.

Moreover, all characters moved on to their second year of high school.

[[Oi, Hideyori, take a look at this!]]

[[Oi, Oi, Oi, where did they get a girl this cute!? The pic is pretty erotic too.]]

[[The camera angle is also godlike right? More importantly, do you know where the ero part of the word erotic came from?]]

[[Eh? Why would I know that? You do, Takeru?]]

[[In the old days, there were these rules for painters who draw erotic stuff you see. The core rules were Exciting, Revealing, and Original so they abbreviated into ERO———-well, I just made that up though.]]

[[That was made up!? I almost got impressed you idiot!]]

It’s just a conversation scene between Takeru and Hideyori but right now I just can’t help but wonder how Hideyori can chat so merrily with Takeru like this…….

Knowing how he’s actually rejoicing in Takeru’s misfortunes, scenes like this just creeped me out.

Well, I was certainly having fun reading the story but as I continued to do so, I noticed something.

Sasaki Emi’s scenes are gradually decreasing……

Somehow, the fact that there’s a character who’s clearly meant to be her replacement appearing out of nowhere in the story doesn’t sit well with me. It’s like I’m getting a glimpse of the dark side of the devs and I hate it……

On the other hand, they included more events that gave more favorable impressions of Akechi Hideyori and it was so unsettling that it felt like suddenly seeing [Handsome Giant] in Doraemon.

Well, since he’s the same old piece of trash scumbag, he still dies at the end of every route though.

With the same pace as my playthrough of the first game, I finished the second game and continued to the final one.

Going to school, visiting Toytomi-kun’s house to pay my respects (Once a week), and playing through [Breaking the Chain of Sadness].

That was my routine.

TLN: Handsome Giant lol
