I had to clear this boulder… Since I couldn’t imagine myself doing that, I asked Mayer instead. “Captain. Could you move this away a bit?”

“Well, that is nothing difficult, but…” Mayer then proceeded to throw aside a boulder the size of a man as easily as moving a folding chair. In its place appeared a small opening where one person might barely fit through. I quietly crouched and crawled into it.

“My word…” Mayer exclaimed, finally realizing the situation.

Yes. Once the dragon was defeated, you could enter a hidden location on the northern wall of the map before exiting the dungeon. Inside, you would usually find a treasure chest. And from the chest in Furka dungeon, you could obtain a Dragon’s Orb.

Mayer stood waiting outside the opening as he cried out incredulously, “There was no real need for you to have come if it was something like this, no?!”

“I didn’t tell you because I knew you’d say that!” I replied unabashedly. Even if he got angry, the dragon was already dead and I had achieved everything I was aiming for. Compared to that, Mayer’s nagging wasn’t anything much. “Everything went well anyway. You were causing a scene hugging me earlier, and now you’re getting angry?”

“I am not getting angry, I… Ha, you really are…”

Mayer sounded upset; his breath ragged. After coming back out, I handed Mayer the Dragon’s Orb. “Here you go.”

He simply stared at the item in my hand, then shook his head and said, “You take it.”

“What? But…”

Me, take the Dragon’s Orb? Did he even know how valuable it was? Although there were several purposes in raiding Furka dungeon, a sizable part of the reason for coming here was to get the Dragon’s Orb. Yet he would just fork over such an important thing? Even if he trusted me… I gazed blankly at the Dragon’s Orb in my hand, while Mayer clicked his tongue disapprovingly. “As far as I am concerned, I would like to force-feed you the orb, but there is no helping it if you refuse, after all. Since it is something we would not have been able to get if not for you, you should keep it and use it when necessary.”

“…Then I’ll try to think carefully on how to put it to good use.”

I never knew I’d get the right to use the Dragon’s Orb. I took this as Mayer intending to actively entrust the use of our elite members since I had proved my ability by developing the special unit until now. That fact made me happier than having gained the item.

I thought I should keep the Dragon’s Orb until the very end. I guessed the best timing to use it would be right before the battle against the demon lord. It would be useless if the person fed with the orb couldn’t fight due to being injured or dead, after all. Although something like that wouldn’t happen if it was given to Mayer, between a strong individual monopolizing everything and adding another character with decent stats… When speaking of efficiency, the latter was certainly the better option.

The Dragon’s Orb in my hand was one more thing added to my happy troubles. We earned much from this dungeon. I reached level 50 and confirmed that the elemental conversion worked properly. Humming joyfully, I thought of how nice it would be if dungeons were always like this.
