Side Story – “The affairs of a pseudo-girl called the Great Sage.”

A little back in time, a great sage living in the present day, who had parted ways with Rolando, was on her way to a certain place.

~Nagartinya’s POV~

After parting ways with my dear and beloved apprentice, Rolando-kyun, I used instantaneous transportation to get to a certain place. If it were true, I would have liked to stay in a dungeon and enjoy the slow life of an elegant recluse, but the demon race had been acting suspiciously, and I had been watching them for a while now, but it seemed that they were trying to invade the human realm again.

I was slightly annoyed and disappointed that my warning had only lasted for such a short period of time, 250 years, when the demons, who had withdrawn into their own territory and remained quiet since I had completely defeated the previous Demon Lord some 250 years ago, were once again trying to do something bad.

“Why do you have to be so afraid! The other party is only one person!!”

“That one person is the problem. You don’t know what you’re dealing with if you haven’t faced her directly. She is no longer a human being, she is a natural disaster.”

It was like a throne room in the innermost part of a castle. At first glance, one would think for a moment that it was the royal castle of some human-ruled country, but the furnishings and sculptures on display gave off an aura of disaster, telling you that this belief was mistaken.

In a place with such a negative aura, two people were quarreling about something without seeming to mind the atmosphere. Most people would come to the conclusion that anyone who could argue in such an unusual place would be a person who belongs to the demon world – and a very high-ranking one at that.

And I, being no exception, came to that conclusion and looked at the male demon sitting on the throne. His face was familiar to me, and when I went back to my old memories to see where I had seen him, a memory of a certain man hit me.

He must have been the son of the previous demon lord who had opposed me when the demon race invaded to take control of the human race. I think his name was Belial, right? Maybe it was my age, but lately, I felt as if I was having trouble remembering things. Huh? You would think I’m crazy if I remember things from 250 years ago? …That may be true, too.

“It is true that she may be strong. However, if all of us demons work together, even the Witch of Disaster won’t be able to survive.”

“Well, well, you seem to be having a lot of fun talking about some things. May I join you?”

“…Nagartinya.”

When I, who had been listening to their conversation with my presence off, appeared in front of them, the man who had been aggressively talking to Belial widened his eyes, while Belial put up a distorted face with a bitter smile on his face. As I observed the difference in emotion between the two, the man spoke to me before Belial did.

“You are Nagartinya, the Witch of Disaster? Aren’t you just a little kid? Were the demon race’s leaders scared of such a little girl?”

“Hey, kid. I don’t like it when you call me that. I am still called the Great Sage by the humans. You’d better be careful how you talk to me.”

“Well, that makes it clear. The Witch of Disaster is nothing more than a fairy tale!”

I felt some irritation at the man’s words, but before that, I realized that I myself had lived such a long time that so many years had passed that there was a generation that did not understand anything like this. While I was thinking about such an unimportant matter, Belial rebuked the man’s behavior in an impatient manner.

“Stop it, Gregory! Do you know who you’re dealing with!?”

“It’s just a cheeky little girl. I’ll prove it now!”

“Stop it! Don’t mess with Nagartinya!”

Without hearing Belial’s words, the fist of the man called Gregory, who suddenly charged at me, loomed up in front of me. He had a big attitude and seemed to have a lot of power and speed.

“Guhaa.”

Gregory’s powerful fist slammed into my face and threw me into the air. The momentum of the fist never stopped, and it finally stopped when it hit the wall of the building. Gregory saw this and, with a high smile on his face, said to me in an irreverent manner.

“Hahaha, how’s that! The Witch of Disaster is not to be feared. After all, the Witch of Disaster is nothing more than a piece of folklore!”

“You fool! Look behind you!”

“What in the world are you talking about, Demon Lord-sama? There is no one behind me.”

What Gregory saw was the image of me who had just crashed into the wall. The broken wall had been restored, and Gregory was surprised to see me standing there as if nothing had happened.

“Can’t you even see through this level of illusion? My goodness, it seems the quality of the demons has fallen to the lowest level, Belial.”

“Youu!!!”

Gregory, who was so mad at my cheap provocation, lunged at me again. Seriously, couldn’t he see that his stupid attack wouldn’t work on me?

Against such Gregory, I got into his face and flicked my middle finger, hooked to my thumb, on his forehead at top speed. It was the so-called ‘deko-pin’.

“Guaaaaaaa.”

With a not-so-pretty sound, Gregory’s body flew into the air this time. Then, the same illusion I had shown earlier was reproduced, and Gregory’s body crashed into the wall, breaking a part of the building.

If I really hit him with a serious deco-pin, there would be enough force to blow his head off, but I have to make him understand why I am called the “Witch of Disaster” by the demons…

“By the way, Belial, I recently overheard something. I heard that some demons are trying to mess with the human realm.”

“Th-that’s just a rumor. The humans have not been harmed by the demons, have they?”

“That’s because my Rolando-kyu…disciple prevented your people from invading, you know? The story is up. I think it would be wise not to play games with me, as it would only make me angry, you know?”

“…….”

When I told him so, his face became even more distorted and he became silent. I wanted to say something to him, but he probably couldn’t find the words to refute what I said. Just as I was about to continue speaking, something came flying out from a piece of crumbled wall. It was Gregory.

“Uooooooo.”

“Stop, stop it, Gregory!”

“Oh jeez, looks like this kid needs a little spanking…”

From there, I began my one-sided attack. At first, Gregory showed some resistance, but by the end of the attack, he showed no signs of resistance at all and just waited for me to finish my attack.

“Stop it already…please.”

“Really, why is it that the young are so hot-blooded? It’s also a problem when they don’t think ahead, don’t you think?”

“……”

Belial, who was speechless, did not reply to my question. Thus, when Gregory learned of the threat of the Witch of Disaster, he was taken by the guards called by Belial and thrown in jail.

“Thank you for not killing Gregory, and I hereby apologize profusely for the actions Gregory took.”

“No worries. I just heard that you, demons, are trying to invade human territory, so I came here to give you a warning.”

“…..!?”

The moment I finish saying that, I put on my body’s magical power and put on some pressure. The pressure was so great that Belial’s face was covered in sweat, but I was impressed that he was able to keep it to that level, as expected of the current generation of demon lords.

“If the demons try to invade human lands in the future, I will be standing in your way, just as I did last time, so you had better be prepared. In the past, I only defeated the Demon Lord, but next time I will exterminate the Demon Race itself. Don’t you dare forget that, okay? Belial, son of the previous Demon Lord.”

“Guh…”

I put more pressure on him, and when he started to break and suffer, I released the pressure. Breathing on his shoulder, I looked down at the freed Belial and nailed him again.

“That’s all I wanted to do. Well, then, you must do your best and devote yourself to not letting the demon tribe become extinct. I’ll leave you now.”

I said this as if to throw up and left the throne room with an instantaneous movement. Belial, who was now alone, muttered a few words with a sense of resentment, and his words echoed hollowly in the throne room.

“Oh, you witch…”

Whether this was out of frustration that the demons could not rule over humans as long as the Witch of Disaster existed, or out of regret for their inability to cope with their unreasonable power, or both, was beyond anyone’s knowledge, but from this point on, there were no more stories of demons misbehaving. The fairy tale of Nagartinya, the Witch of Disaster, would later be passed down to posterity as a true story that actually existed, but that would be for another story.
