Chapter 8 Laura's Resolution

Kenneth Rothchild was the former Head of the family. He has an impressive reputation for lifting the family through the decline after the second world war. He is well known for his iron fist approach to situations; He is a calm and composed individual who is highly calculative. He is a person who would value his reputation above his life. He is about 70 years old and just living out his golden years with his wife, Margaret.

Margaret Rothchild is from the royal family of England and is second in line to the throne. Formally known as "Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon," she is the younger daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and the only sibling of Queen Elizabeth II. Her position in the line of succession diminished over the following decades as Elizabeth's children and grandchildren were born. Margaret became one of the world's most celebrated socialites, famed for her glamorous lifestyle and reputed romance. Most famously, she fell in love with Kenneth Rothchild as a young adult in the early 1950s.

Their story worked out well because both families needed support; Rothchild wanted to cement their legacy in Britain, which will bring different opportunities for the Royal family to exert dominance all over Europe. Both were happily married for over 40 years and were extremely loyal throughout the years. It was common to still practice polygamy(polygyny/polyandry) among the nobles. Early in the morning, they heard that their eldest son, while on the road, found a strange boy and took him to the hospital. They were worried but not afraid; in Britain, no soul is foolish enough to act funny in front of them unless they have been living under a rock since birth. After the day with the little update, they soon learned that their son and daughter-in-law had just entered the premises. They soon, along with other family members, were gathered in front of the door.

" Dad, mom, I heard that Robert is coming back from the hospital, and they are bringing a little boy?" Mary, the second youngest of their children's inquired.

" Is it true dad, Did brother finally decide to adopt?" Peter, the youngest, asked.

" It would be great if we finally have a grandchild, Kenneth; see to it, you can let go of all your responsibilities after that. " Donald joked. He is the eldest son of the previous generation and the big brother of Kenneth. People called him the genius for his accolades in the field of LIteracy. He is like an obsessive maniac who only care about the hobby for which he forfeited the position of Head of the house. The only one who can control him is his wife, Patricia, who is usually very kind, but have to discipline her husband constantly for his childish behavior.

Patricia said, " Husband, don't say these things hastily. We don't know much about the boy yet. He could have been abducted for all we know."

Kenneth just sighed. He was used to their antics. He stated, " We will listen to the story from the Horse's mouth; let us wait; they are nearly here." He saw them walking over toward them.

"Father, mother, great-uncle, great aunt, and little monsters, I see most of the house is here." He just smiled tiredly.

"Brother, grow up!" Both siblings said simultaneously.

"Tell us about the boy brother. Do I finally have a nephew?; I have been waiting for like forever. I prefer If It was a girl, but I will make do with anything at this point." Mary said in a cheeky tone.

" Yeah, bother, tell us. I have been waiting since morning for this." Peter said innocently. He was the most simple person in the family, brave but pure.

The elders just waited for their response.

Laura said, " I know everyone is curious then. I will start from the beginning----" Then she repeated the whole event. Everyone listened to it attentively, elders kept quiet, but youngsters reacted with vibrant expressions.

" So, we dont know anything other than that our security is lax? I will talk to Stephen (David's father) for answers. Find about the boy and return him to his family." Kenneth said firmly, looking directly into the eyes of the couple from side to side, indirectly telling them to forget about this random incident.

Robert understood, but suddenly Laura objected, " No! Father, listen to me. From the first time I saw him, he looked so fragile, and we had to take care of him. I think he has no one else besides us."

" Laura, listen to me; This is a very unusual situation; when you were having problems conceiving, you found this boy magically? This is too coincidental. He could be a tool sent by our enemies to spy on us. This house and all our properties hold important information which other rival families would be happy to arrange something like this or He could have been involve in other shady stuffs and was thrown here. It was lucky you found him, if others had found him he would be sitting in questioning room. Answering questions. " He stated his point.

" Father, I know you dont believe Laura. But trust me on this, I have also seen all kinds of people, and you have personally told me that I am a good judge of character. Let's investigate this case, then think about the future arrangements." Robert chimed in, supporting Laura.

Kenneth stared at the couple when Margaret added, " Husband, let's support the children. They can handle this; the boy could be a nobody in a difficult situation; We can confirm; I will call Elizabeth; she can employ the MI6. They are good at these things."

Laura added, " Father, Mother, He is just 10 years old, and I didn't tell you this, but he is also blind. How can anyone use someone like him? if he is related to shady people and have no one waiting for him, I will personally adopt him. I have never seen someone so pitiful."

" Are you sure? In the morning got a call from my friend in Germany; he said they can help you with your infertility, though it is an experimental stage; he assured me and invited both of you there." Kenneth said, trying to persuade her out of it.

Laura said firmly, " We have been trying for the past 5 years; I am ready." she looked at Robert and continued, " I know it may not be our flesh and blood, but I want to do this; I have been pondering about it for a couple of years but this morning just made me sure about it. Honey, I want to adopt."
