Chapter 3 - Tracking interviews

Looking at how the man by the name of Gu Lin spoke clearly, it indeed didn't seem like he was lying.

She had indeed appeared in the hotel lobby and fallen, but there was no sign of the agreement that he had mentioned.

"You mean I took your agreement?"

She found it funny. If it was something valuable, it was alright; but how could she not know about the Divorce Agreement?

"I didn't say that it was definitely yours, but it's just that this matter is very important. Because one of the parties has already left the country and the other one is also leaving the country this afternoon, I hope that I can let you carefully reflect on this possibility."

Compared to the aggressive tone from before, it seemed a little better now.

Ying Yue was still a Chief Reporter after all, and her eloquence was not bad at all. How could she take the stranger's casual words for real?

"Mr. Gu, I can understand the importance that you, as the client, attach to this contract, but what if I end up getting into unnecessary trouble because of your unreasonable guess?"

Ying Yue smiled mischievously. How could they not pay a price if they dared to waste such an important amount of time like this?

Furthermore, she still had to think of a way to catch Mr. Li even if she were to lie under the wheels or ambush him in front of the men's restroom.

"I'll go and get my handbag now. If not, please leave immediately and send an apology letter to my company. Is that okay?"

Ying Yue stood up and said as she looked at him.

Gu Lin thought for a moment and felt that this was the only solution. He nodded his head and watched Ying Yue leave. Almost immediately, he grabbed his bag and rushed back.

She was really a lively and reckless woman, and quite interesting.

Gu Lin thought back to the first time he'd met Ying Yue in the hotel lobby. From that moment on, he knew that she was a rash woman. It had taken him a lot of effort to find out and take away the information about the woman in his employer's agreement.

Since he happened to see Ying Yue throw the invitation into the trash, he got her name and attended a wedding from the information on the invitation. Then, he used his interpersonal skills to easily find out all the information regarding her in some special departments.

"I haven't touched anything since I got back from the hotel, so now is the time to witness a miracle …"

"

Ying Yue unzipped the zipper, turned it over, and poured the contents out. Women's bags usually contain mirrors, combs, paper towels, cell phones and other gadgets.

Among them, there was also a piece of white paper that she rubbed.

"Thank you for letting me see a miracle."

Gu Lin narrowed his eyes and smiled. He placed his hands on the table. Not only was this woman rash, she didn't even know how to protect herself.

Ying Yue picked up the crumpled letter of agreement. On it were two large, black characters, which pierced her eyes like needles.

Damn it...

"Mr. Gu, please keep it well. Next time, don't easily throw it into someone's bag."

Ying Yue awkwardly laughed twice and passed her hands over. It seemed like she was really in trouble now.

Surprisingly, Gu Lin hadn't reprimanded or told her how much trouble she had caused because of a moment of carelessness. One must know that even if one had the ability to obtain the information he or she wanted just by using a name, it would still require a lot of time and effort.

"Since it has already returned to its rightful owner, I will not disturb Miss Ying Yue anymore. Thank you."

Gu Lin put away the agreement and nodded his head, then stood up. He had only come here to retrieve his things and hadn't intended to waste too much time.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Gu Lin took out his phone, looked at Ying Yue, and apologized. He then stood up and walked to the French window, whispering, "Hello."

Ying Yue stood to the side, waiting for him to leave. She felt that she had suffered a terrible fate recently. Not only had she been betrayed by her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, but she had also offended an unassuming lawyer.

She felt that her life was terrible.

"Mr. Li, I still have some matters to attend to, once I'm done, I will head over. The location is on the second floor of the Sea Moon Hotel, and I will arrive shortly."

Gu Lin said in his usual calm tone and then walked to Ying Yue's side. He gave her a polite smile before walking out of the meeting room, leaving Ying Yue standing there like a stone.

Mr. Li, Sea Moon Hotel.

She didn't believe that such a coincidence would exist. It seemed that the accident this time had reaped her a lot of benefits.

After sending Gu Lin off, she almost immediately stuffed everything back into her handbag. She didn't have time to say anything before she sprinted a hundred meters out.

Because of her nervous expression, the taxi driver stepped on the accelerator and didn't forget to gossip: "Miss, don't worry, with my 20 years of experience driving, I will definitely follow her without anyone noticing. "But you're so beautiful, why would your husband steal the food?"

impersonated Mrs. Gu

Ying Yue smiled helplessly. Could it be that all the taxi drivers these days had evolved to add salt and vinegar to their imaginations?

"Be careful not to lose him."

Ying Yue had to remind him that if he lost her, she would lose her only chance of interviewing him, and would end up being exiled to the deserted island by the editor.

"Miss, don't worry. I have followed you several times a month for this kind of thing. I definitely won't lose it."

The taxi driver said confidently before stepping on the gas pedal.

Ying Yue followed behind Gu Lin as they walked through the hotel's entrance. When they reached the second floor, they were politely stopped by a waiter without him noticing.

"Miss, please show your invitation."

This Mr. Li was a person who was extremely unwilling to reveal himself to the world. Thus, he had only invited close friends and relatives to today's thank you banquet. This was also why the editor said that this was a troublesome target to interview.

Ying Yue raised her head, but there was no trace of panic in her expression.

"I'm Mr. Gu Lin's wife. I came here together with him. He's inside."

As she spoke, she pointed at Gu Lin, who had already walked in. As long as she could successfully sneak in, take a few photos, and conduct a simple interview, she would be able to write an exclusive story.

However, the waiter did not immediately let her in. This was because Mr. Li had specially instructed her not to let anyone who was unrelated to join in on the thank-you banquet. Although he was a newly minted industrialist, he was very low-key and rarely appeared in the public eye. It was extremely rare for anyone to find information about his interview.

"Miss, can you prove it?"

As expected of a waiter from a five-star hotel, he was smarter than the average person even when it came to thinking. Ying Yue inwardly praised, but she didn't admit defeat. She was a sharp-tongued reporter, so how could she give up so easily?

"Do you know why I'm here today?"

Ying Yue nodded slightly, her bright eyes looking at the waiter in front of her. She lowered her voice and said, "My husband, Gu Lin, is a lawyer. As his assistant, I have a lot of documents."

she said, deliberately pausing to press her hand against her handbag.

"The Mr. Li's 4 PM flight, if the relevant law process is not completed, and the flight is delayed, I don't think that you can bear the responsibility."

At this moment, she was going to apply invisible pressure. It wasn't like she was doing something bad, she just needed to do her job.

"But …"

The attendant was somewhat shaken, but she still stood guard at the door. Hearing his hesitant tone, Ying Yue was secretly delighted. As long as her attitude was shaken, it would be easy to handle.

"Because I paid the taxi fare, I was unable to go in with my husband. So be it. When the time comes, I will explain everything honestly."

After Ying Yue said this, she smiled politely at the attendant and turned to leave. However, she did not hesitate at all. She wanted to capture him and use him in this kind of place.

"Mrs. Gu."

The attendant let out a heavy sigh and made an inviting gesture. If he really were to delay Mr. Li's time, he would not be able to shoulder this responsibility.

"Thank you."

Ying Yue restrained the joy in her heart. With an unperturbed expression, she stepped onto her high heels and confidently walked into a place that no magazine reporter could enter.

This was a small private gathering with exquisite decorations and leisure. On both sides of the long table, there were all kinds of delicious food that one could casually enjoy.

She was not in the mood to look around at her surroundings. She randomly grabbed onto a person and asked in a familiar tone, "Why did he suddenly disappear and I even wanted to take a picture with him?"

This was because Ying Yue's reaction was too familiar. The bystanders did not have any doubts as they pointed towards the window beside the fallen glass. She was holding onto a goblet of wine and wore a proper, dark blue suit.

Be good and don't run away, little prey.

Ying Yue squinted her eyes and smiled. Then, she casually took a glass of champagne from the male waiter's tray, walked over and smiled, and said, "Hello, Mr. Li."

Li Xiang raised his head and looked at Ying Yue. He slightly pinched the space between his eyebrows and said in a somewhat stiff tone, "I don't think I know you."

Hearing this, Ying Yue felt stifled in her heart. As expected, she was an industrialist who didn't like to chat with strangers. Her personality was simply too strange.

"Then do you know Gu Lin? I'm Gu Lin's wife, and I want to get to know you."

In regards to this, Ying Yue apologised in her heart. She had already made use of Gu Lin twice, and was a complete stranger at that. She hoped that that stern and formal lawyer would not cause her trouble.

"A Lin is actually married, but I didn't know?"

Li Xiang was a bit surprised. Gu Lin, who walked on the street and wouldn't even glance at a woman, actually had a wife. That kid did a pretty good job of keeping secrets.

But Li Xiang wasn't stupid, how could he believe so easily.

"What do you have to prove it? A wedding photo, a marriage certificate? "From your tone of voice, I think you're very similar to those gossip reporters."

Those who wanted to obtain first-hand information from him could queue from here all the way to the main entrance of the hotel.
