Chapter 74 Just Give Up Nicely

Divei has light green, perfectly groomed hair clumsily hanging over a fresh, cheerful face. Hollow brown eyes, set elegantly within their sockets, locked eyes with Mich.

An old tattoo of a tail fin is almost hidden just above the left side of her neck and leaves an intriguing memory of who she once was.

Smooth skin elegantly compliments her cheeks and leaves a pleasurable memory of her beauty.

'She would have been the perfect candidate for the pearl assessment.' Mich thought with regret.

Fantasizing about what he would have done with her and the underlying results that would have sprung from their copulation.

'Frich was stupid to let the opportunity go! Now, all we are left with is beauty without brains and a possibility of never seeing a clear pearl!' Mich's anger rose as he stared at Divei, suppressing it with his tight grip on his armrest.

No matter how much he wanted to protest, this was their quota, just like the rest of the tribe who gave up their females who had fit in with the criteria.

Seeing how one of Vanas' own had been killed, he could only wish the same wouldn't befall Divei.

Divei walked out timidly, standing amid Lona and Stella.

Hisha stared at Divei, mesmerized by her unique beauty and charm, and traced her line of sight to Mich who seemed agitated by her presence.

A smirk made its way to Hisha's lips as he devised another step he could take against Mich.

Lona had her ears pointed and her white hair packed in a side ponytail with a fringe and bangs framing her pale skin.

Her clear blue eyes warmly looked over to Stella who they had been friends since they had arrived in the citadel.

Stella was human, but this didn't stop them from bonding over the fact that elves possessed little to no Sux and had to rely on weaponry just like humans.

Lona had strapped behind her, a bow and arrows shoved into the ground in strategic points.

Divei could tell they would team up against her and because of the rules, she was prohibited to use her ability given a human was involved.

'Great! Just great!' Divei sarcastically cursed at her bad luck.

Stella was a fierce-looking human with her bandaged fists already clenched and ready to attack.

She wore a black bodycon suit that clung tightly to all her curves. Even though she was slender, her muscular features which could have been achieved through rigorous training could be spotted.

Blowing off a loose strand of her red hair away from her face, she looked to Lona for her selection.

"I choose Stella Davis," Lona announced with a beaming smile to her friend.

Mich bit down on his lips, nearly bursting out into laughter at what mistake they had made.

'She can't be the best in my tribe if she isn't good enough. Not using her Sux should be the best option for you both.'

Hisha had his attention on Mich the whole time and as he studied his facial expressions, he came to realize there should be a trick up Divei's sleeve.

'That smirk, there's something I'm not getting.' Hisha deduced.

Even though the fight looked more like she was at the disadvantage, Divei looked more confident than the two just like Pesa's situation.

[This should be fun, don't you think, host?]

'It's only fun when it's not predictable.' Hisha countered and hoped he could get something to feed his eyes just like the one Pesa had given.

Taking two steps back, Divei chuckled at the sight, knowing her fate even before the duel would begin.

Inhaling and exhaling, she opened her eyes once more and prepared for the next plan of action.

Lona placed an arm on Stella's shoulder and whispered, "we don't know what sort of tricks she could pull off and neither do I want to be as rash as the previous team."

Stella shook her head, "she's defenseless and it also seems to me that she had hoped to use her abilities."

These words had been a source of comfort to humans and elves alike, but when she considered the rules more closely, she understood that there was still an underlying danger.

Lona furrowed her brows, thinking about the possibility of it being true and the fact that Divei couldn't use her ability to hurt them, whispering once more from the corner of her lips, "we can't be too sure, if we plan this right, we could–"

Whoosh!

Lona gasped in shock the moment she saw Divei vanish from the watch of her left eye.

"I had thought you two wouldn't shut it in the first place." Divei's voice echoed all around them.

Trying to pinpoint the location of Divei, they looked all around with their backs against one another.

"What was that you said about planning?" Stella hissed in a panic.

Lona internally cursed at the arrow placed so far away from her reach.

Without the proper knowledge of where Divei was or how she had done it, leaving Stella behind was a risky thing to do.

Hisha also searched the arena for any sign of Divei and was pleasantly surprised to catch on to her presence later on.

To the ordinary eyes of those who didn't possess Sux, Divei's frightening movements were not detectable and were almost seen as a blur, but to those who possessed Sux the higher their level the clearer they could detect her.

With every glance given by Lona or Stella, she had been successful in dodging from their sight, while stalling time and increasing their anxiety.

'Isn't the rules prohibiting anyone from using their Sux when a human is present in the arena?'

[You seem to get the rules misunderstood–the opponent is forbidden to use their ability against them not that they can't use it to help themselves]

'So what you're telling me is that Divei is using her ability to evade them, but can't use it to fight against them.'

[That is correct!]

Furrowing his brows, Hisha wondered what Divei could do since she could as well understand the limit to her ability.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

"I would consider you both lucky to be paired up." Divei's voice crackled in the background as she swiftly closed in on them.

Lona finally picked up on her movements, witnessing how the arrows placed were going missing with her advancement.

"No, no, no!" Lona shook her head in a panic.

Schwp!

Kicking Stella away, Lona rolled to the other side just in time before an arrow could lodge into their heads.

Snap!

Lona cringed and cursed out because of her bad luck.

Tttnnn!

Tttnnn!

The arrows lodged into the walls of the arena, causing a little crack to form all around it.

A gasp could be heard the moment they saw Lona pull off her broken bow.

She didn't have enough time to react when she felt a kick to her chin.

Tumbling, she crashed into Stella who had just gotten to her feet.

Pushing herself up immediately, at that point, Lona wished she could use every bit of her Sux to get an upper hand but cursed out once more knowing her ability could only be used in the offensive.

Making herself much more visible to the two, Divei clasped her hands behind her and said in a low tone. "I don't want to kill as the rest do, how about you just give up nicely?"

"Give up?!" Stella spat, wiping the dirt off her face. "You might think you have some sort of backing because you possess Sux!"

"Stella..." Lona whispered, hoping to make her see reason as to not engaging in an argument nor provoking Divei.

They would have been dead if the mermaid hadn't slowed down her movements just for her to pick up on the little effort she made to be spotted.

'That arrow should have killed us if she had acted anything but slower.' Lona looked down with anger.

"I am sorry about your bow." Divei gave a light bow and hoped they would reconsider her offer.

Not wanting to show her trump card, she wished they would give up and she declared the victor.

In her book, using her ability was much fun with those who could match her standards–a human and an elf are way below what she needed.

Holding the remaining arrows in her palm, she made sure their eyes followed her as she did so.

"Aren't you curious about what I could have done with this?"
