When the supposed police officer came into view, the Black Hand Gang members who were in the middle of getting out of there stopped and burst out into laughter.

Meanwhile, Xavier who had felt slightly relieved, couldn't help but curse his luck.

"Hahahaha! Is this what the NYPD is made up of these days?" mocked the boss of the Black Hand Gang.

They had all been shaken by her shouting at them to freeze, but it turned out to be merely a lone police officer who didn't even seem to be armed with a gun.

As they laughed wildly, one of the thugs said, "I recognise her. That bitch is one of those useless cops that patrol this area and never get anything done. But I think she is new, since I have only started seeing her recently."

"Yeah, but she is quite the beauty, isn't she?" commented another as he licked his lips.

"Hey! I would like to taste the cop first and we should quickly deal with these two before the real cops actually arrive," the boss said, causing his subordinates to promptly stop laughing.

Xavier looked the cop up and down and shook his head, seeing her as merely an additional burden that he couldn't ignore, but probably wouldn't be of any help.

She was young, and seemed to be a few years older than him, in her early twenties, while the only visible weapon she had with her was a baton.

Most cops like her would have their guns strapped to their side or waist, and weren't allowed to carry a weapon that wasn't visible and issued by her department, which just went to show that she was a newbie cop.

There were 6 of the Black Hand Gang members left, excluding their leader, while the two of them that he had previously landed a few attacks on seemed to have mostly recovered.

He could barely stand, so taking them all down would be almost impossible, and it didn't appear as though the newbie cop had much of a chance against one of them, let alone all of them at once.

And that wasn't even accounting for their leader, who for sure wasn't just some pushover and would also be a capable fighter.

However, she didn't seem intimidated or afraid in the slightest. Instead, it was clear in her eyes that she was disgusted by the 'gangsters' before her.

She even went on to shout the expected lines, "You do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."

"If you try to resist arrest, I will have no choice but to use force," she added.

Xavier didn't know whether to laugh or cry, as he watched her unstrap her baton and prepare to fight.

Coming in, it was clear that Xavier was fighting against them all alone and was severely injured, so for the time being, he was on her side, but he was still confused as to why she had stormed in alone.

"Why the fuck would you come here alone if you don't even have a gun?!" he couldn't help but shout.

"I don't need a gun and can't miss the opportunity to arrest all of them in one fell swoop. If they get away today, they will disappear from this place and all links to this illegal brothel will be wiped away. I can't let them get away with this shit again."

"But you are alone!"

"Oh, just shut up. It's not like you're any better and after this, you will be arrested as well," she refuted.

"All we need to do is hold out for a few minutes, as I have already requested back up," she said, having no choice but to team up with Xavier.

"Fuck," he cursed under his breath before accepting, "Alright. But don't get in my way or get yourself killed. I'll try to handle as many of them as I can."

With that, a temporary alliance between the wounded and masked figure and the lone and stupid cop was formed against the 7 larger and armed gangsters.

The Black Hand Gang members couldn't help but laugh at the show and after hearing their exchange, as the 6 subordinates began to surround the two of them.

"Do you really think you can hold out for a few minutes?"

"Dumbass. You're dead, and this bitch will be enjoyed by all of us when we take her with us and get out of here."

Amused by their desperate attempt against them, they circled around Xavier and the cop, blocking off their path of exit and surrounding them.

"Just try to fend off against one of them, and I will deal with the rest," Xavier said as he launched himself toward the closest thug towards him.

His body was feeling heavy and had lost a lot of blood, but he had no option but to fight and he wasn't planning on letting off these bastards for what they did to his mother.
