221 [Bonus chapter]Chapter 221: A truce?

Alex gazed at the enemy with a frown on his face. The beast actually looked like a dragon but a humanoid version about 7ft tall and bright red rocky scales. Any normal person would be terrified but he stood in its presence and allowed the fierce aura surging from the enemy to sink in!

A Duke level threat!

Alex was already bored so this was a welcome development since he really hoped to see the limit of his strength! All this while he is yet to use more than one-third of his power! This will serve him well!

“You are not Estos!” The mutant beast said with a strange skeptical look on its face which left Alex speechless!

Did the mutant beast just speak?

He expected a lot before coming here!

He had always wanted to see how intelligent beasts at higher levels are but he couldn’t expect it to get to a stage where they can communicate! Well, man did evolve from something lesser. With the right upgrades, it’s only natural one can reach this level.

“If you can speak then there is no need for conflict. Why do you stop me?” Alex asked coldly. He ignored the question of the beast and remained airborne with a piercing gaze.

“Estos is killing this world and depleting its resources. We monsters die and our energy returns to the world. Following a cycle but the Estos only takes and never gives back. They are a plague that must be dealt with” The mutant beast said with a piercing tone.

His eyes were cold but that of the beast was even more fearless. In fact, the only reason it stopped to speak to Alex was that he noticed he wasn’t an Estos.

“I am not asking, I am telling you!” Alex said coldly as he raised his hand and immense heatwaves erupted from his body, spreading far and wide but the mutant beast stood there unmoving, even within the heat waves.

It gazed at Alex fiercely, as if asking him to make the first move.

“What we do, we do protect this world. Life is a cycle and when one decides to break that cycle due to experiments, tests, and gadgets, it’s only natural for the world to die. You should find out how the seeds are made if you truly wish to learn about this” the mutant beast said with a defiant look on its face.

Alex stood with a frown on his face. He seemed clearly hesitant which looked like a good sign for the monster and a bad sign for the Estos. They gazed at the screen in worry about what may happen if Alex abandons them now.

Huff!

Boom!

Alex’s body vanished and reappeared ahead of the enemy, striking out with an open palm! His palm struck the enemy by the chest and a shockwave erupted but it didn’t move the beast! Its eyes seemed to narrow in response as its claws glowed and it lashed out violently at Alex

Peng!

Its claws struck something which was an invisible barrier, preparing it from going any further! Alex ignored the attack of the enemy as his open palm curled into a fist, striking forward without hesitation!

KILL!

Boom!

The mutant beast was thrown back a few hundred meters but its scale was not damaged one bit.

“You cannot kill me” It’s said coldly.

“Neither can you....” Alex shook his head as random information raced in.

His reason for hesitating earlier had nothing to do with the mutant beast’s world. This is not his home so he had no reason to care about the state of the planet. By the way, a battle against the alliance and the Danites is possible soon. The Estos need the power source if they are going to be able to fight back.

He only paused as he considered the possibility that this duke level mutant beast may be occupying the power source they need.

Just like other races, mutant beasts gain strength through these kinds of things as well. The only difference is that when they die, the resources gathered during their lifetime are returned to the soil. Unlike the Estos who use the power source and the world’s resources for extravagant things like creating seeds and other technologies.

“I fight to protect... Don’t you understand that?” The Duke level mutated beast seemed reluctant to fight Alex.

“I too once fought to protect. I had a blade driven into my heart by the woman I loved and they watch me get butchered! My waste was torn from my body... I died that day. Now I fight to destroy!” Alex said as the rumbling sound erupted from his body!

“I will take what I need to create an army strong enough to back everything I lost. Anyone or anything that dares to get in my way will die. You are no exception!” Alex said before punching forward!

Roar!

A fierce shockwave erupted as a golden fist descended from the heavens, striking down at the enemy!

KILL!

BOOM!

A mild explosion erupted as the enemy made no attempt to block! Watching the figure of the beast fall, Alex’s golden skin squirmed and twisted like some liquid as a small reddish touch was added to it!

Demon-kin secret technique; Blood Haven!

Puff!

The golden blood rushed out like liquid, taking the shape of two massive claws while clenching down on the mutant beast!

Bang!

Clasping together as if squashing a bug before smashing it into the ground fiercely! Alex’s golden blood laced with red color surged back into his body without hesitation and just as he suspected the mutant beast was still standing with close to zero injuries but even then it refused to attack anymore which made Alex frown.

It is one thing fighting the entire world. Then it’s another thing entirely fighting against someone who has refused to move a muscle. It kills the vibes.

“Your attacks are half-hearted. It is clear you don’t really want me dead” The duke level mutant beast said with a calm look which made Alex frown.

“My attacks are half hearted because I don’t kill people unwilling to fight back... There is no fun in it...” Alex snorted.

“You kill beasts unable to fight. You chase them down and murder them” The mutant beast countered.

“They would have fought if they had the strength... They are more than willing to run which makes things exciting. You, on the other hand clearly have what it takes to kill me yet you won’t fight” Alex sneered coldly.

His eyes seemed to be lost in thoughts while gazing coldly at each other. There was silence for over a minute and everyone held their breath in anticipation.

“What do you want?” Alex heaved a sigh of defeat and surrendered to the enemy. Stubborn-headed people are always the hardest to deal with.

“We were there when they came to Estos city. They came in large numbers with huge ships and more. They left and we know they coming back. When they do they will be taking over the Estos race and they will destroy this world as you see it. They will drain this world of its resources until there is nothing left...” The mutant beast said.

Hearing this Alex’s eyes widened in shock as he knew who this beast was talking about! It was the Alliance! These mutant beasts must have been surrounding this city when they came. Even without being present they already guessed what the other party wants. Their intelligence was really on par with that of humans.

“So how is that my problem?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I am sure you do not wish to watch everything crumble. You do not want to serve someone so you will fight them when they return. All I ask is that you join forces with us to fight back! We have a common enemy, a common goal” the mutant beast said in a lower tone than usual which made Alex sigh.

Indeed the enemy is a mixture of numerous races wielding the power he has already and more. Should they come in large numbers, history will only be repeating itself. He will stand strong and fight gallantly. The Estos will fall one after the other by his side and then it will be just him surrounded by experts of numerous worlds. Their battle will be amazing and worthy to be remembered in history but ultimately he will lose and die for the second time and maybe this time, his death will be permanent.

Alex has gone through a lot and he knows his value. With his fame and strength, the alliance will try to recruit him but he is not valuable enough to put himself on the same footing as their kings and leaders.

He lacks both the strength and forces to make that happen.

“I will work with you but in exchange, you will hand over that power source... For the sake of victory we need everyone at their best, including the Estos!” Alex responded after thinking deeply.
