Chapter 17

Name:Descent of the Demon God Author:
The room next to the interrogation room became dead silent. Everyone couldn’t take their eyes off the special glass. Vice Director Hou Ilgyung was so shocked that he couldn’t even take his eyes off, and he spoke to Song Wigang standing behind him.

“…Chief Song. Are you sure it’s not visible from the other side?”

“I… it’s not possible to see it from the other side… unless if you are using a see-through glass…”

There were special spectacles that could allow one to see through specially treated glass like the glass they were standing in front of. But Chun Yeowun was talking to them as if the glass was as transparent as any other normal piece of glass.

“And how the hell can he see me right through the glass then?!” Hou Ilgyung shouted angrily. Song Wigang couldn’t answer the question, and the female detective who was about to move into the interrogation room spoke.

“Director. Maybe he is just acting to play tricks on us. Maybe he cannot see us.”

“Hmm?”

“It’s common to see the interrogation room and the special glass in movies or TV shows these days. There’s no way he can know that someone is standing here across the window.”

Hou Ilgyung shook his head disappointingly at the female detective. She was wrong as Chun Yeowun saw straight into Hou Ilgyung’s eyes and even said that he seemed to be a high-ranking official.

‘That man is Yulinian. We cannot think of him as an ordinary man.’

Hou Ilgyung calmed himself to think straight about what was going on. He was the Vice Director not only because he bribed and befriended many higher-ranking people, but he did agree to something that the female detective said.

‘It may be right that he is trying to shake us up.’

If that was true, then he couldn’t stand there and stay shook. He had to stand firm and not play into the criminal’s trick. Even if the criminal could see through the special window, the window’s sound deadening or bulletproof strength still had to work. Hou Ilgyung pressed the button on the machine in front of the window and closed in on the microphone to speak.

“Can you see inside this space?”

He knew that for certain, but he needed to make sure.

-Did you think I cannot see inside?

‘!!!’

Hou Ilgyung frowned at Chun Yeowun’s voice coming through the speaker. It was certain that Chun Yeowun was observing them through the window. It was as if it was Chun Yeowun who was observing them instead of them observing the criminal.

‘…Bastard.’

Hou Ilyung became annoyed by Chun Yeowun’s somewhat arrogant reaction. But Hou Ilgyung remained calm and pressed the button again to speak.

“Please let go of the doctor.”

Hou Ilgyung asked for Chun Yeowun to let go of Doctor Jo Sejong. Chun Yeowun was still holding onto the doctor’s wrist as if he was now a hostage.

-Ugghhh…. P-please!!

Jo Sejong pleaded Chun Yeowun with a terrified look. Hou Ilgyung continued calmly.

“Let go of him, and I will make sure you will not be charged for this.”

He was trying to negotiate with Chun Yeowun.

“I am the Vice Director of the PSB. I have the power to do so.”

-Vice Director?

“The only one who has higher authority is the Director. It is okay for you to believe me.”

-Hmm.

Of course, it was a lie that Hou Ilgyung was willing to weaken the charge that was going to be put on Chun Yeowun. Hou Ilgyung was dead set on pushing multiple charges as much as possible.

‘I will put you into a hell hole.’

He just couldn’t show his intention as there were surveillance cameras everywhere, and detectives watching him. He had to act as if he was trying to negotiate so that they could free the hostage.

“B-but you can’t negotiate with the criminal…”

“I will take responsibility.”

“Vice Director…”

All detectives thought Hou Ilgyung was trying hard to save Doctor Jo Sejong. Of course, that was Hou Ilgyung’s intention to make him look like he was doing everything he could to save lives. And there was another reason why Hou Ilgyung was speaking of negotiation.

‘Hah. I will never negotiate with a stupid criminal.’

Hou Ilgyung was looking at something. He was looking Doctor Jo Sejong’s other hand, which was free from Chun Yeowun’s grasp, unlike the other hand. The hand was half into the pocket with a needle with a sedative in his hand. He was a doctor, but he was also a PSB agent. There was no way he went in unprepared into the interrogation room with a criminal.

‘He’ll just need a little diversion…’ Hou Ilgyung thought. All that was required was to make Chun Yeowun not realize what was happening. Hou Ilgyung tapped on the button again and spoke through the microphone.

“We will not do the blood test. Please, let go of the hostage…”

-Aaaaaaaaaaargh!

The sound of screaming of Jo Sejong came through the speaker even before Hou Ilgyung could finish his sentence. Jo Sejong’s arm broke and clung on helplessly, with Jo Sejong rolling on the ground with pain. Hou Ilgyung became furious and shouted into the microphone with a vein popping up on his forehead.

“You ASSHOLE! What do you think you are doing?!”

He didn’t expect something would happen before the needle was put on into the target. Chun Yeowun then smirked and spoke to him.

-You are dumb. I can see right through the mirror. You think I didn’t know that?

‘Dammit…’

Hou Ilgyung became lost for words. Chun Yeowun acted as if he was looking straight through the window, so Hou Ilgyung had forgotten that the window was originally like a mirror on the other side of the room.

‘Argh!!’

He would have stopped Jo Sejong from trying that if Hou Ilgyung realized the window was the mirror. He became dumbfounded of his mistake while Chun Yeowun asked,

-Do you think I would take such a man as a hostage?

“What?!”

-Don’t do anything stupid. Don’t think I’m here because I was afraid of you all.

Chun Yeowun warned and Hou Ilgyung slammed the window with his fist.

-BAM-

“Y…you bastard!!”

He couldn’t keep his calm anymore. Song Wigang and the other two detectives couldn’t say anything as they were afraid of Hou Ilgyung becoming furious.

‘How dare he threaten the Vice Director of the PSB?! I will not let him!’
