Chapter 62 62 – In The Front Door

"You want me to learn about their movements, right, Sir Vorn?" Karl continued after we entered his room.

"Yeah, maybe you have a network there or something," I responded.

The mayor sat in his chair. "Tomorrow, I plan to visit the capital for a work visit. However, I was actually planning to find out about it."

I frowned. "Wow, you are very considerate, sir Karl."

"Well..." He smiled. "I'm your supporter, and it's not just because you gave Charlia to me."

"I see." I approached him. "Thank you."

"It's nothing." The mayor chuckled. "I also really need to refresh my mind away from here. I've been stuck in this city for too long…."

"Yeah, I agree," Charlia added. "I haven't worked here long, but I think sir Karl has been working too hard."

Karl leaned his back on the chair. "And I don't understand you, sir Vorn. You can convey this request through Charlia. Why did you come to me directly?"

"I don't think it's polite to ask you something like this without seeing you face to face."

He rubbed his chin, silent for a moment. "But, sorry. I'm not doing this for free."

I already guessed. It won't be this easy. "If I can grant it, then…."

I stopped when I found Karl staring at Charlia.

"Sir Vorn. Charlia is a succubus. I once found her coming to Father Jude to seduce him." A long sigh escaped from Karl's mouth.

"Done." I nodded. "Charlia will be yours forever. I wouldn't assign her to flirt with other men."

Charlia's chin dropped, and her face turned red.

"Then, I can do this." Karl rose from his chair and approached Charlia while taking something out of his pocket.

Charlia covered her mouth with both hands when she saw that thing, which was a small red box.

Cool. Karl can't leave Charlia at all after this.

The mayor knelt before the succubus, then opened the small box. It contained a gold ring.

"Charlia." He put on a broader smile. "Marry me."

Instead of answering right away, Charlia looked at me.

"It's your life." I also smiled at her. "It's up to you. Charlia. But I think Karl is the best match for you."

Despite said that, I still expected Charlia to accept the proposal. This will really be a significant advantage.

The succubus took a deep breath, then looked deeply into Karl with teary eyes. "Yes."

<Nueridge City>

Ayre walked while carrying a large magic book. Her body was almost the height of an average 15-year-old, and she adapted her face to that age.

"Doc." Ayre knocked on Lexi's study door. "I have something to ask you about this book."

"A moment!" There was the sound of fast footsteps inside that room, a sign that Lexi was running.

Ayre guessed that the woman had stumbled to pick up clothes and put them on. She does work naked when she's alone.

The door finally opened after a while. "So, what are you going to ask, Ayre?"

Instead of responding immediately, Ayre looked at the doctor's robes. Lexi, who realized that, looked down.

Over time, the doctor's face turned red. She wears her clothes in reverse. The back part is in the front.

"Sorry, I'll fix my clothes first!" Lexi closed the door again.

"Sure, I'll be waiting." Ayre shrugged.

A knock came from the front door. It was louder than usual because the door of this house was enhanced by Lexi. The doctor did that so that knocks like this could still be heard to the end of the house.

"Can you check who's coming, Ayre? I'm having trouble untying the knots from my panties!" Lexi sounded panicked.

Ayre answered. "Sure."

Does this mean the doctor's underwear is also reversed? And what does she mean by knot? Does she wear panties that use strings?

Ayre tried to forget those unimportant questions and walked towards the room near the kitchen, where a crystal ball was placed on a table.

The knock from the front door echoed again. Ayre checked the crystal ball, which functioned like a surveillance screen. It displays the front of Lexi's house.

There were several people there. Everyone wore clothes like adventurers. One was a female mage, the other was wearing a tight outfit with two knives at her waist, while the muscular man had a brass knuckle in his hand.

"Should I just break into this place?" The man whispered, but his voice was still caught by the magic recorder at the front door.

The surveillance crystal stone and magic recorder were Lexi's own inventions. It was only natural that those people didn't know about it and kept chatting.

The knife-wielding woman sighed. "Be patient, Greg. You've only knocked on this door twice."

"We do this in the afternoon to not attract attention. At night, many people will ask." The mage added. "We came as ordinary visitors. No ordinary visitor is breaking down the door."

"Sorry. I've never been on duty like this, unlike you guys who graduated from Shadow." That man scratched his hair.

"Do not talk too much." The knife-wielding woman sighed. "Just do it."

The brass knuckle-wearing man knocked on the door again. "Miss Alexis, please open the door. We need your help."

Ayre turned and ran to tell Lexi, but the doctor had almost entered the room.

"Wow, why are you running like that, Ayre?"

"Government people are coming." Ayre hissed. "We have to do something."

Lexi widened her eyes, then checked the crystal ball. "Are you sure?"

"I'm absolutely sure. They had mentioned it in their chat."

The doctor then put his palm on the crystal ball. Her hand gave off a dim light, and the people waiting outside were thrown away.

"What happened!" The mage shouted.

The brass knuckle user got up and ran to the door, but he bumped into an invisible wall and fell again.

The knife-wielding woman touched the wall and beat it. "A magic barrier? I've never seen such a thing completely transparent like this!"

The mage also checked that thing. "It's impressive, but that doesn't mean it's indestructible. I need some other magic users."

"You stand guard here, Greg." The knife-bearing woman got up. "We will bring some mages."

Ayre patted Lexi's shoulder. "We have to get out of here, Doc."

The doctor massaged her forehead. "There's no way out but that front door…. I didn't expect this to happen because I always pay bribes to officials…. And I can't just leave my mother."

Ayre wondered if this could have something to do with the government's move against lord Vorn? Lexi is called the devil's doctor, after all. The people at the top level might want to check her out. Maybe they thought she did have a link with Lord Vorn.

"How long until they can destroy the magic barrier?" Ayre asked.

"I don't know." Lexi shook her head, looking desperate. "One day? Less than that? I've never checked it."

Realizing she couldn't get past the person in front of the house alone, Ayre decided to contact her lord.
