Chapter 25 25 – Questions

"First question, what's your real name?" I asked her.

"Emily." She sighed. "Don't ask my last name. My name is just Emily…. Damn, I haven't said that name in a long time."

I put on a smile, looking into the keeper's eyes until she raised an eyebrow.

"So, Emily. Can you resurrect humans with the same appearance as when they were alive?"

"Depends on the circumstances." She replied in a lazy tone. "If they just died and there were no significant injuries, then sure. I can do it."

"What about someone who died decades ago?"

Emily shook her head. "They'll just be skeletons that move. Their minds also haven't necessarily recovered either. They'll just aimlessly wander if I don't control them."

This is very unfortunate. The ability to resurrect people who had died long ago was the key to subjugating Jude. However, I still have another card on my sleeve, although I'm reluctant because it might take a long time. Not to mention the many darkness points I have to use.

"Bye then." I smiled again.

It took a while for the keeper to answer. "Huh?"

If she has that particular ability, I'll keep persuading her until she is willing to become my subordinate. I might even force her even if I don't like it.

Not that I would ignore her. I just want her to join me naturally.

"Think about my offer, Emily. I guarantee that a purposeless life will kill within you." I turned around and found all my comrades looking confused.

"I don't understand you at all." The keeper responded.

"I'll see you from time to time." I started walking. "Who knew you were lonely."

I came out of the cave with my comrades. Seeing that Xenora was having a bit of difficulty breathing and her way was wobbling, I decided to carry her with both hands like a princess.

"Kyaa!" She screamed and tried to break free, but I held her on.

Physovia laughed. "She hates being treated like that, my lord. She prefers to be tied up and dragged in a horse-drawn carriage."

"You are injured, Xenora." I had a little trouble carrying her because she kept moving. "Stop fighting me. This is an order."

She snorted but finally stopped moving. With another frowning expression, she buried her face into my chest.

I just smiled at the black-haired succubus' behavior.

"Your dreams will come true, Ritor," I muttered to the minotaur. "We're going to kill humans. Maybe in large numbers."

"Is that true, my lord?" Ritor held his breath. "I'm thrilled to hear that."

I could detect a hint of excitement in his voice.

Garthur thumped himself in the chest. "I can't wait too, my lord!"

I'm not doing this just because I want to do it. I just want to get many darkness points to subdue father Jade.

Turns out I can't keep my hands completely clean in this world.

"So, where will we do that, Your Majesty?" Phisovia asked me.

I glanced at the red-haired succubus, then grinned. "We have to wait for information from Charlia first. I hope she will bring me what I want. And we wouldn't do it barbarically to just any human group."

"Szur is curious what kind of humans we will visit." Szur let out his trademark shrill giggle.

Miles from the undead cave, Charlia was accompanying the mayor of Silkdale city. On a large bed, she lay naked and only using a blanket, running her index finger over the man's body.

"Sorry, I have a question that sounds weird. I hope this doesn't upset your mood tonight." Charlia let out a teasing chuckle. "Do you know of a major organization headquarters or something in this city?"

"Your question isn't that weird." Karl looked at the ceiling, still thinking about what he had done with Charlia just now. The mayor still wanted to do it again, but his body couldn't. "You might think why this city is quite safe. The crimes that occurred are not that significant."

"Yes, it must be because of your greatness, sir." Charlia chuckled again.

Karl sighed. "I can't take the credits for myself. The purge of the crimes had started with the previous mayor, my own father. Yes, this city isn't that big, the budget is also small, but he doesn't give up trying to make it better."

At first, Charlia wanted to ask again. However, seeing that Karl seemed deep in thought, the succubus chose to wait for him to speak.

"Now it's my turn to have a weird question." Karl looked at Charlia. "Could it be that you, your lord, and your comrades want to destroy the criminal organization? All of you really want this world to be better?"

Charlia changed her position to be on her back. This time it was she who looked up at the ceiling. "If that's true, are you willing to go against it?"

"Not really." Karl took a deep breath. "Although I hate bloodshed, it can't be helped. My father used to use violence to exterminate them. I also use things like that to prevent them from getting in here."

Charlia's lips curled into a smile. She already knew all that. She had heard Karl used officers and mercenaries to repel organized criminal groups. Everything the succubus had said just now was to remind Karl that that man was also doing immoral things, even if it was for the good of his city.

So, the mayor will be a hypocrite if he opposes Vorn, who will eradicate a large crime organization.

"If there's no major organized crime in this city, what about other places? Charlia asked again.

"In the city of Marystar, a specific area is the center of everything. Opium production, sale of forbidden magic items, assassins' quarters, and so on. The officials didn't do anything to that place because they got bribes." Karl looked at the ceiling again. "It's a five-day walk from here."

"Thanks, Karl." Charlia kissed the mayor on the cheek. "You really are amazing."

"I have a request." The man massaged the point between his eyebrows. "I know, some innocent victims will be inevitable. You'll have a hard time distinguishing between good and evil there… At least, try to minimize that."
