Chapter 8 8 – In His Sleep

The crescent moon shone lazily in the sky. Szur crept toward a large house with cypress trees in the yard. He went to the back door and pressed his palm to the knob.

There were a few clicks and the door opened by itself.

No matter how advanced the lock is, a Mare will still be able to open it. It was a basic ability possessed by the little creature. Without it, how could he give nightmares to the householder?

The creature continued to move at a silent pace, down the kitchen, then into the dining room. In there, he took a piece of leftover cheese from the table and ate it.

Like Ritor, there was already a lot of information about this world in Szur's head. That's why he knew the yellow thing was food.

Perhaps the information had come from Fergus's brain while performing Lord Vorn's maturing ritual. Then, that information was passed on by Lord Vorn to his generals.

However, that was only a hypothesis from Szur and Lord Vorn's discussion. The demon lord himself didn't know what was really going on.

Szur searched the dining room for a while. Finding no other food, he continued on his way. The main course for him wasn't food anyway.

The little creature opened a room and found a bald man and a thin woman with a gaunt face. They were both asleep, unaware of Szur's arrival.

Perhaps that man was the chief of this village. Szur didn't know for sure. Even if he was wrong, he just needed to find the right person later. Lord Vorn didn't ask him to hurry.

Szur slowed his pace. Luckily the target was on its back. Otherwise, he would have to wait.

The bald man frowned and mumbled as Szur climbed onto his chest. The little creature crouched down, looking at its target's face with a broad smile, showing his sharp teeth.

Now, that bald man won't be able to wake up.

Szur's body turned transparent, rendering him completely invisible. This was also one of his perks as a Mare, but he could only do it when he crouched against someone's chest.

"Szur wants to see your deepest fear." The mare hissed, connecting his thoughts to his target. It only took a few seconds, and he had what he was looking for.

Spiders.

The bald man frowned even more. His mouth opened wide like someone was screaming. A giant spider was chasing him in his dream.

Szur rubbed his chin. It would be boring if this man's dream was just like that. Maybe increase the number of spiders? No. That would be less interesting.

The little creature began to dig deeper into his target's mind. It didn't take long for Szur to discover that this man liked to flirt with the girls in the village, as well as imagine having sex with them.

So, Szur brings up an attractive woman who helps the village chief in the dream. The bald man's face relaxed as his lips formed a smile.

Of course, Szur didn't let that continue. He turned the woman into a giant spider little by little. The mare ensured that every step of the change was so disgusting that it was ingrained in this man's mind.

"No..." The village chief grumbled while squeezing the blanket. His brow furrowed again, his head turned to the right and left, cold sweat started to run down his body, and his breathing became heavy.

In his dream, he was entangled by a giant cobweb. The lady spider was crawling to eat him.

"Great..." A soft chuckle escaped Szur's mouth.

To that creature, this thing was like a drug that made him addicted, giving a sensation that cannot be described in words. He felt he couldn't live without torturing the people in their dreams.

[Vorn's POV]

The fast-forward feature I was using stopped automatically. Szur approached me, who was sitting on a rock, a bit far from the village.

"How is it? Have you had fun?" I asked him.

The tiny creature giggled. "Yes, my lord. Thank you for the opportunity. The village chief is truly tormented in his sleep. If only you had seen his face at the end. Szur made the giant spider's pussy spit out many other, smaller spiders in the chief's dream."

"So, he's afraid of spiders?" I grinned. I couldn't imagine that happening to me. "What you did was so messed up, Szur."

"Thank you for the compliment, Your Majesty." He bows down. "Szur is very flattered."

"So," I stood up, putting my hands behind my back. "When can I visit him?"

Szur rubbed his chin as he looked up. "Probably about five more days until his mind breaks, my lord."

"I see." I glanced at Ritor, who was lying on the ground. His snoring was so loud that it shook the nearby leaves. "Can you keep Ritor from doing anything unnecessary, Szur? Don't let him hurt or kill any human."

"Szur will try his best." The creature bowed again. "Are you going somewhere, my lord?"

"I'm going to the nearest city." I put on a meaningful smile. "Can you guess what I'm going to do, Szur?"

"Honestly, Szur doesn't know, Your Majesty. My intelligence is far from that of a majestic figure like yours. However, Szur believes it is something brilliant and evil."

"Well, we'll see." I spread my wings. "So, goodbye, Szur."

"Be careful, my lord." For the third time, the little creature bowed. "Hope all goes well for you."

My body floated as I flapped my wings. I then flew through the night wind.

I'm sure that Szur has guessed my plan. That little monster is not stupid. He just wants to get my attention. Maybe he wants the second-in-command position.

Well, what can I expect from a wicked creature like him?

I used the fast forward feature, setting it to stop automatically at the destination city. The stars in the sky turned into streaks of light. In less than a minute, I saw buildings that were close to each other.

I stared at the quiet marble street. The people were sleeping peacefully, not knowing what would happen to them.
