Chapter 235 - 235 Venturing Inside (2)

235 Venturing Inside (2)

With Blake, Vera, and Cyra walking right in the front and Robus in their backs, the moment the ground beneath the three’s feet rose, Robus quickly jumped up and went along with the group of people, joining them on the elevated ground.

When Robus’ huge body landed on the ground, the ground had actually stopped rising for a whole second before it continued rising once again.

“What is happening!?” Blake quickly scanned his surroundings. The tree had gone up along with them, and there wasn’t a single change on the tree. What Blake found instead was the changes to the ground that he and his group were standing on.

If the ground used to look just like any other ground made out of ordinary dirt, with the only exception being the dirt fully black in color, right now, Blake realized that the solid ground they were standing on looked nothing like dirt.

In fact, the layer of dirt that he was standing on had been shaken by the elevated ground, and it revealed a rather smooth surface, with patterns formed on it, and also the fact that the ground that they were currently standing on wasn’t flat.

It looked like a dome with the black colored tree standing right in the middle, at the highest point of the dome.

‘Wait… Isn’t this…floor? Looked familiar….?’ As Blake looked at the floor more and more, he now realized that the smooth dome-shaped ground with patterns written on it looked oddly familiar to a turtle’s shell.

And it didn’t take him long to prove that his guess was correct. After two whole seconds of rising up the ground, the floor beneath them stopped rising, revealing a head that came from the other side of the dome.

“Did we just step onto a really huge demonic beast?” A rhetorical question was the only thing that Blake could utter before his mouth was shut by the sudden emergence of a dense nether beneath his feet.

.....

With his extreme sensitivity to nether, and also the darkness element, it only took Blake a split second after the nether gathered on the top of the carapace of the turtle to know what those dense nether were forming.

“Robus, brace yourself! Vera, please fly away! Cyra, come here!”

With the urgency carried in his tone and the initial awareness that the group had ever since they felt nether gathering beneath their feet, none of them just stayed silent in place as they followed Blake’s instructions the second Blake finished saying them.

With his dark earth armor already manifested, Robus did nothing else other than protect his own face, the only area that the dark earth armor completely.

Vera, who had been wary right from the start and had already spread her wings the second she walked on the black ground and had never folded them back again, only used a split second as she flapped her wings, pushing herself off of the huge turtle’s body while her fingers started moving as she cast two spells at the same time.

Cyra, who didn’t have any defensive capabilities at all other than running away, hurriedly shoved herself onto Matthew’s arms as Matthew himself jumped towards her. His hands already started casting a spell as she received Cyra in his chest

The moment Blake and Vera finished casting their spell, four darkness barriers manifested themselves onto the world. One appeared right in front of Vera, one more covered Robus’ body, and the other two appeared right around Blake and Cyra.

Vera had cast 2 darkness barrier spells, one for herself and the other one for Blake while Blake had also cast 2, one for himself and the other one for his huge gorilla friend who would definitely receive a lot of hits due to his large body.

“Brace yourself! A darkness bullet barrage is coming!”

The condensed nether beneath their feet, on top of the carapace then finally manifested themselves as a bundle of condensed darkness elemental balls shot from the carapace, flying straight upward, hitting Blake and his group.

The darkness bullets that magically appeared on the turtle’s carapace weren’t as strong as the usual darkness bullet that Blake created, possibly due to how many of them were conjured at the same time, but that was also the strength of the huge turtle’s attacks.

With the sheer quantity and the fact that Blake and the group, except for Vera, were at zero distance from the darkness bullets, the bullets’ strength wasn’t something that they could scoff at.

The darkness barriers that the two mages conjured began to tremble as the barrage of darkness bullets collided with them, causing Blake and Vera to pour in a lot of nether to mend the cracks that started forming on the barriers. Moreover, they had to supply two barriers at the same time, which made the job significantly more difficult.

Fortunately for them, they were currently standing on a nether rich zone that wasn’t actually harmful towards them, but gave them a boost in power instead, and added with the fact the two of them were very proficient humanoid demon mages that could cast two spells in a single second, the two were able to manage their nether control.

Some darkness bullets did curve and flew in an unpredictable trajectory, but with two darkness barriers protecting him, the dark earth armor protecting Robus, and Vera who was flying off the ground, the group received not a single wound on their bodies after the barrage of darkness bullets finally stopped.

“Jump away, pal!” Blake shouted to his gorilla friend as he followed his own instruction and jumped together with Cyra, using his fiery nether to create an explosion to propel themselves away faster.

Robus lowered his feet before then kicking them away from the ground beneath him, which was none other than the hard carapace of the giant turtle. Robus’ strength then proved itself that it shouldn’t be trifled with as his jump was actually enough to put enough burden on the turtle’s body to make it lower its huge body down, albeit only slightly.

With all of them having dismounted from the top of the giant turtle, they could finally get a proper look at the giant demonic beast that they had stood on a couple of moments ago.

Blake could already see quite an accurate glimpse of the creature since the creature did look very similar to a turtle even from the top, but after seeing properly with his huge gorilla friend standing not too far away from him, Blake finally understood properly how big was actually the turtle.

The creature was actually big enough to host 6 Robus on its back, if the weight factor was removed that is. It was only about two to three heads taller than Robus, but what made it so gigantic was how wide the turtle’s body really was.

And with a big enough and tough carapace to protect its innards, the turtle almost looked like a walking fortress.

The black tree that had baited them into walking close enough to the turtle in the first place was placed right in the middle of the carapace, right on the very top, which was a very strategic place considering the turtle probably used it to lure demons like him and Vera who was interested with the fruit that the tree bore.

The giant turtle realized that the targets that had fallen into its trap had actually survived the barrage of darkness bullets, something that it had never encountered before. So after shaking off the confusion and slight shock that it felt, the giant turtle released a reverberating screech as it turned its body towards Blake and the group.

“You sure are very loud.” Blake shook his head to brush off the slight ringing in his ears that the screech had caused.

“Cyra, let’s give the guy a little kaboom.”

“Kaboom?!”

“Yes, kaboom.”

With Blake’s instruction, the two of them then quickly stood facing each other, their hands almost meeting in the middle as they began circulating their fiery nether.

“Robus, please help us get that guy’s attention while we prepare our gift for it.”

“R.” Without asking a single question, Robus excitedly leaped forward, crossing dozens of meters with a single leap as he arrived at the turtle’s face, delivering a leaping superman punch right into the turtle’s face.

He had wanted to test out his newfound strength, but with the group spending most of their time crossing the plains to get onto the nether rich zone, Robus couldn’t meet any worthy opponent that he could not crush with a single grip of his huge hand.

Fortunately for him though, the turtle was the perfect practice dummy for him.

With him already evolving once, Robus’ strength was literally out of this realm as a single one of his punches sent the turtle’s head crushing down straight to the ground, his four legs followed soon as they lost their balance and trembled down to the ground.

“Nice job, Robus! We’ll be done soon with our combination spe-” The initial words that Blake wanted to stay were stuck in his throat as an “Eh?” jumped out from his mouth.

“Brother?” Cyra asked as she noticed Blake had stopped sending his nether into the condensed dark flame fireball in between their hands.

“R?” This time, Robus was the one who released a yelp of surprise as he noticed a round dark orb had appeared beneath his hand that had just been pulled back from the turtle’s crushed head.

Unfortunately for Robus, it turns out that the turtle wasn’t even a good practice dummy for him as only a single one of his punches was more than enough to crush the turtle’s skull and turn its brain into mush.
