175 At The Second Humanoid Demon’s Base

With the second humanoid demon’s base in sight, Blake then activated both his dark earth armor and the Child of the Dark Flame bloodline power.

The durable dark earth armor would protect him from any kind of attack while the fire bloodline power would boost his overall fighting power to almost unbeatable under normal circumstances.

“Robus, Cyra, we wouldn’t be fighting them right away. We will observe the base for a while first before deciding anything. But just in case something unexpected were to happen, let’s prepare ourselves first.”

Being a flame elemental variant, Cyra was on standby mode all the time since her bloodline power was essentially activated all the time, even when she was resting.

While Robus on the other hand had only activated his bloodline power, the dark earth armor when the situation needed it or when Blake told him to be careful, just like what he had just told him.

Different from the first base which there was quite a distance away from the base and the forest residing beside it, the second humanoid demon’s base that the group had just arrived in was located right beside the forest, essentially becoming an extension of the forest.

It might be because the forest was their main target of exploration and they didn’t need to put too much care towards the other area and directions, but Blake could only guess so he didn’t think too much about his speculations and just observed to understand the base better.

Just like the first base, most of the walls that surrounded the whole base were made out of wood with the towers made out of the black stones that he found on the center building of the first base of the humanoid demon.

The black stone towers stood at intervals between the wooden walls. And different from the first base where there were still some black stone towers being made, the black stone towers in the second humanoid demon base were already fully built.

.....

And when Blake had gotten close enough to it, he could even see demonic runes inscribed on it.

Blake would need to get even closer to see those runes better to see whether he knew those runes or not and whether he knew what their functions were on the huge tower.

However, doing that now would be quite hard as even though there weren’t many humanoid demons walking around the side of the base where Blake and his group had come to, there were still some of them, and it would be impossible to walk undetected in the plains where the only place you could hide was the uneven ground that made a relatively tall mound of earth.

Fortunately for Blake and the group, in particular, Robus who has a huge body, the forest that the base was adjacent to was so vast that they could walk around the base and go into the forest from quite a distance away from the actual base.

That way, they could use the cover of the forest to slowly walk closer to the base without having to walk on the open plain and save themselves from being discovered.

The journey to circle around the base almost took about half an hour due to Blake wanting to make sure that not one humanoid demon would notice them. And with Robus’ huge body, it was much better to be safe and circle around far enough rather than be sorry that he didn’t go around far enough and Robus’ huge body caught a humanoid demon’s attention.

And from there, the group walked again for about 20 minutes-ish before finally getting close enough to the humanoid demon base to finally see the side that was directly adjacent to the Forest of The Beast.

Different from the base’s other sides which looked quite desolate with nothing but a few humanoid demons scattering about, the side that was facing the inside of the forest was full of humanoid demons.

Most of the trees around that area were already cleared and not a single humanoid demon could be seen cutting trees at the front gate of the base. But there were still a lot of humanoid demons right at the gate of the base.

There were a few humanoid demons that seemed to be the guards that manned the entrance, while there were other groups of humanoid demons that gathered around the gate, seemingly the hunting groups that would search for food in the forest.

And just like the humanoid demon hunters in the first humanoid demon base, the humanoid demons that stood in the front of the gate all looked fit, well-fed, and they looked ready to battle at any time.

However, after some more keen observation, Blake realized that these humanoid demon hunters might not be the same ones that were found on the first humanoid demon base.

The humanoid demons in the first base were not too strong and they were not even as strong as the humanoid demons that were sent to the island where Blake lived before.

It was evident from a lot of them using basic tools like a bone spear or a bone spear to supplement their weaker strength and fighting capabilities.

But now, the humanoid demons that had all gathered in front of the base, about several dozen of them were present and not a single one carried any kind of external weapons.

Some of them had deformed wings that couldn’t let them fly. Some of them had unique physical traits like a hand that was shaped into swords or spears, some had colorful skins, which Blake had started to learn that those folks must have high affinity with certain elements and they were most likely demon mages, and a few even have complete-looking wings on their backs, possibly giving them the ability to fly.

These humanoid demon hunters that Blake saw looked more familiar to the humanoid demons that came to his island and gave him a huge headache instead of the humanoid demon hunters that he and Robus met on the first humanoid demon base and the type that they could kill while being half-asleep.

Realizing this, of course, Blake instantly doubled his caution and told his entourage to take a further distance away from the group while he kept observing them from afar.

‘Now that I think about it, what were these humanoid demons doing? Why are they gathering in front of the base? Don’t they just go out and hunt when they want to? Why would they need to gather with each other and form a large group?’

The humanoid demons that were gathered around the gate of the base really did nothing else other than stand around, seemingly waiting for something. And without any knowledge, Blake couldn’t even make a tiny guess about what was that thing they were waiting for.

Actually, he had a guess, but it was more like his imagination trying to make sense of things and make stuff up rather than piecing things together to make a picture out of it.

‘The only thing that could make these humanoid demons do something unexpected or unreasonable was none other than...’

As his mind was about to finish the last words, Blake’s eyes suddenly shifted sideways as something caught his full attention.

And when his eyes landed on the gate of the base, Blake finally finished his own thoughts as his wild guess had turned out to be not so wild at all.

‘A humanoid demon from the deeper realms...’

How could Blake be so sure about it? There were two figures that had just come out of the gate of the humanoid demon’s base. And if both of them weren’t the humanoid demon from the deeper realms, Blake was sure that at least one of them was definitely one.

The two figures that just walked out of the gate not only stood out with their fully developed bat-like wings on their backs, but even the aura that they gave out was different from the other humanoid demons in the area.

That arrogant vibe that screamed they thought they were above everyone else around them was the same kind of feeling that Blake felt when the flying humanoid demon from the first humanoid demon base greeted him and Robus.

One of the humanoid demons looked fairly ordinary with a medium-sized body, similar to a typical adult man. And the special feature that the humanoid demon had was the forest green skin that he had, signaling that he was most likely a demon mage that had the plant affinity like the other greenish demon that Blake had met.

The forest green humanoid demon looks different from the rest of the humanoid demons and also gives off a different vibe. However, the one that really stood out like a nail was the other humanoid demon that was walking in front of him.

The other humanoid demon that walked in the front had dark red skin, a huge bulky body that leaned more towards the muscular side instead of chunky, and a large horn that almost looked like a crown on his head.

However, not one of those features really took Blake’s full attention besides the black demonic runes that were inscribed on the back of his huge bulky body.
