154 A Chase (2)

Even with barriers protecting his whole body and he was actively flying in evading patterns, a few of the darkness spikes still succeeded in making their way through the darkness barriers and the flying humanoid demon’s fast flying movement, and drew the flying humanoid demons’ blood.

Despite trying to fly away as fast as it could, the flying humanoid demon wasn’t as fast as the bird demonic beasts that were very superior when it comes to maneuvering in the air, which led it to completely get away scot-free from Blake’s myriad of darkness tendrils.

Minor wounds that only stabbed his thigh or his sides were certainly a blessing and a miracle considering what happened to the other victims of Blake’s myriad of darkness tendrils spell.

However, the flying humanoid demon thought otherwise.

“A humanoid demon that has not even evolved once, wounded me...?”

Once the spell had finished manifesting itself, the flying humanoid demons were already high up in the sky as the result of him trying to get away from the hundreds of darkness spikes.

His two darkness barriers were still intact, even at full strength. But the amount of nether that he had spent to keep the two darkness barriers from breaking was worth at least a dozen spells.

The flying humanoid demon’s eyes then scanned the forest under him, searching for the humanoid demon that was responsible for wounding him.

And with the huge gorilla that the humanoid demon was riding on, it was easy for him to quickly spot the shaking trees that were caused by the huge gorilla leaping forward with great force.

.....

“I don’t know what and how you did what you just did, but I will make sure you spill them all out,” The flying humanoid demon said as his eyes were locked onto Robus’ and Blake’s location.

Changing his whole strategy and approach to the situation, the flying humanoid demon released the two darkness barrier spells from his hands before diving down with all his might, heading straight to the duo’s location.

Along with the disappearance of the darkness barrier, the marking spell that Blake had attached to the left barrier also disappeared, losing his mark on the flying humanoid demon.

Once again, it didn’t take long for the flying humanoid demon to barely catch up to Blake and Robus as the two sides once again were face to face with each other.

Blake, of course, noticed this and quickly tried to do the same strategy, sending one darkness bullet and one marking spell, hoping that the flying humanoid demon would fall for it again.

However, instead of putting up another barrier, the flying humanoid demon just tilted its body sideways while diving down, dodging the two spells completely with a simple gesture.

“Slide left!”

Hearing Blake’s voice from his back, Robus quickly slid to the left and dodged two darkness bullets that the flying humanoid demon sent towards both of them.

“You seem to be able to dodge very well, but I wonder if you could also dodge this.”

The flying humanoid demon then started drawing his runes again, with one hand drawing one set of runes each.

Blake had already seen those runes and he had prepared to tell Robus which direction he should move the moment the flying humanoid demon released the spells that he had drawn.

However, instead of releasing the spell like Blake had thought, the two sets of runes that were now floating in front of the flying humanoid demon’s hand just shifted to the side as the flying humanoid demon drew two more sets of runes beside the completed runes.

“What is...”

Blake couldn’t even finish his sentence as the flying humanoid demon had now completed 4 sets of runes that he held in his hands, one hand holding two runes each.

And when the 4 runes had finally been completed, the flying humanoid demon finally released all four of them together.

“Robus, move to the...”

Even if Blake knew what kind of spell had been cast, he would still need to sense the minuscule amount of nether that gathered around the area before he told Robus which direction he should move in order to not be hit by the spell.

And in the case with four spells activated at the same time, Blake would need to accurately detect all four places where those spells would activate.

Which was a very hard task to do considering some or even all of the spells might have been layered on top of each other, and Blake would have to guess which spell would come first and what kind of spell it was.

And in the end, even with his very high compatibility with nether and a genius that could identify runes with a glance, even Blake would not be able to get out of the current situation unscathed.

It took him almost a whole second, which was very long compared to the previous instances where he would be giving Robus instructions in an instant, but Blake did give Robus his instruction.

“JUMP UP! NOW!”

With Blake’s instruction, Robus put all of his strength into his feet and pushed them vertically off the ground.

Robus’ strength should have been enough to bring them at least 10 meters above the ground and completely dodge the spells that the flying humanoid had sent towards them.

However, with how sudden Blake’s command was and how late it was compared to the other times, Robus wasn’t able to properly change the forward-moving momentum that he got and his vertical jump turned to a slight leap forward.

And that small little leap forward was what had caused Robus’ feet to not get out of place in time.

Walls of darkness tendrils sprout out from the ground beneath Robus and Blake and encase them from four different directions, only leaving the way up for them to dodge to.

However, with Robus’ body moving slightly to the front, the wall of darkness tendrils that were placed in front of them barely succeeded in latching onto Robus’ feet.

It might seem to be superficial that some darkness tendrils succeeded in catching Robus’ feet.

But those darkness tendrils were the same darkness tendrils that were able to hold the humanoid demons and demonic beasts glued to the ground without being able to do anything if enough of the darkness tendrils had latched onto their bodies.

And despite Robus only getting his feet caught, the darkness tendrils could only break so much momentum from Robus’ hulking body and herculean strength and Robus still wasn’t dragged back down to the ground.

However, it was certainly enough to totally break his body’s balance.

With the sudden jerk from Below, Robus was forced to compensate for the opposite force by also jerking his body to regain his body’s balance.

And it resulted in Blake’s body being launched from his back.
