151 Trapped

Blake didn’t know what the loud horn noise meant, where did it come from, nor what did it mean.

He also didn’t have any plans to find out about it as he only had his focus on getting himself and Robus away from the place as soon as possible.

However, Blake was soon forced to find out what the horn meant whether he wanted it or not.

Just right as the horn resounded, from Robus and Blake’s left side, or from the humanoid demons’ base direction, 3 humanoid demons with deformed wings showed themselves and rammed Robus and Blake from the side with their fist.

The actual damage that was done to Robus and Blake’s bodies was nothing worth mentioning about as the dark earth armor completely negated the damage of the hit and they only felt slightly numb, the force and momentum that was carried behind the punch was what mattered the most.

Blake and Robus were going straight forward, while the three powerful punches came from the side. The duo’s forward momentum was broken by the punches and Robus and Blake’s speed had been forcefully slowed down by the three humanoid demons with the deformed wings.

Robus wanted to fight and give the three humanoid demons with deformed wings a piece of his mind after they had annoyed him very much.

However, Blake was able to keep his calm and told Robus just to ignore them and prioritize running away first to get away from the humanoid demons.

Blake had also moved himself from Robus’ fist to Robus’ back so that Robus would not have his limbs’ mobility impeded by him.

.....

Robus was really pissed off as he had been attacked out of nowhere by these humanoid demons and they all grouped up on him, annoying him even more as he couldn’t give them a proper fight because of the constant spells barrage and attacks thrown toward him.

And if given the chance, Robus would gladly take it and make sure the humanoid demons know how furious he was toward them that he would sever their limbs and crush their bodies using his own two hands.

But putting aside his anger and annoyance, Robus listened more to Blake’s words rather than his own feelings and swallowed down his anger before he continued running away.

However, even though Blake and Robus didn’t want to have anything to do with the humanoid demons, the latter thought otherwise and decided to chase Blake and Robus.

Robus’ physical strength was definitely above average and a single leap from him was able to cover a great amount of distance.

But Robus was a demonic beast that specializes in strength, not speed.

Even though using his enormous strength he could gain quite a significant amount of speed that was even faster than Blake’s running speed, the humanoid demons with the deformed wings were still faster than him.

And with the other humanoid demons that were scattered all over the place, Robus’s and Blake’s getaway was yet again impeded by the humanoid demons, particularly by the deformed-wings humanoid demons.

Blake already knew that the humanoid demons with the deformed wings were probably sent to stall for time as more and more humanoid demons arrived in the area.

However, even though knowing this, Blake wasn’t able to do a lot to change that fact with his current situation.

The three humanoid demons with the deformed wings wouldn’t get rid of themselves and either he or Robus have to do it.

But if he or Robus decided to deal with them, then they would already be spending their precious time and the humanoid demons would succeed in stalling them regardless of whether they were alive or not by the end of it.

The three humanoid demons with the deformed wings were once again taking their stance and charged forward in his and Robus’ direction. And this time, Blake grabbed and activated a rune formation from his dimensional pouch while his hands were also drawing earth elemental runes.

Casting two walls made out of dark earth to appear out of the ground, stopping the three humanoid demons’ charge as even their enhanced charge with their lightened bodies was not enough to break through a dark earth construct.

But Blake knew that stopping them with the dark earth constructs was only a temporary solution as they could simply walk around it before using their enhanced charge again to once again catch up to him and Robus.

Having inferior speed was definitely a very large disadvantage to have when you were trying to run away, and Blake and Robus had to somehow think of a way to deal with it.

‘There’s not a choice other than killing or incapacitating them...’ Blake thought to himself as he began to think of a way that was possible to deal with the three chasing humanoid demons without stopping his advance.

With the dark earth construct giving him and Robus a little more time, Blake finally had the chance to think properly and come up with a very feasible idea.

Grabbing four rune formations from his dimensional pouch, Blake began to finalize his plan.

The three rune formations that he grabbed were the dark earth wall, the man-sized hole, the diagonal earth walls, and the earth spikes rune formation.

Just from the rune formations he chose, it was simple to deduce what kind of plan that Blake had formulated to deal with the chasers that refused to let him and Robus go.

Still half-standing on Robus’ back, Blake turned his head back and waited for the three humanoid demons to finally catch up to him and got close enough before he released all the rune formations in the correct order.

The three humanoid demons, as he had guessed, had already circled around the dark earth walls that he had cast earlier, and they once again began their charge toward him and Robus.

The four rune formations that were held in his hand were ready to be activated any time and Blake only needed to release them to the ground for them to manifest their effect and deal with the three humanoid demons, giving him and Robus the chance they needed to run away from the forest and get far away as possible from the humanoid demons’ base.

However, before the three humanoid demons had gotten close enough to him, Robus suddenly stopped moving forward and froze in place, abruptly ceasing the forward-moving momentum, causing Blake to almost fall from his back.

“Robus what happen-”

Before Blake was able to finish his sentence, his head already looked forward.

And what he saw and heard made his mind stop working.

Floating a few meters in front of Robus was a humanoid demon that had two bat-like wings, very similar to the one that Vera has. And despite not having a skin color as dark as him, there was a tinge of blackness in the humanoid demon’s red skin.

And while looking at Robus and Blake who was still half-standing on Robus’ back, the humanoid demons spoke loud and clear,

“Oh? What do we have here?”
