113 Runemasters (2)

“Runemasters were always respected in the deeper realms. And a demon with a certain level of intelligence knew to not mess with them as they knew that even if they might be able to fight or defeat them.”

“They knew that it would be a lot of trouble for them to be doing so, and they would have to pay a price, not a cheap one most of the time, if they really wanted to mess with one.”

Blake was still listening to Vera’s explanation quietly as his eyes were still glued to the sky where he saw exactly 19 humanoid demons free-falling from the sky high above.

Due to the distance they were currently falling from, Blake only saw dots, but with his eyesight that had improved tremendously after becoming a demon and rising his physique stat, he could count those tiny dots, and there were exactly 19 of them.

“And if you might wonder why it was like that, come here follow me.”

Vera then walked leisurely to the middle of the clearing, right about the location where all the humanoid demons would have landed, and probably turned into mush if they didn’t have any method of breaking their fall from the ridiculously tall heights they were currently falling from.

With Vera telling him to follow her, of course, Blake soon walked over to the exact same spot.

“Help me draw a few runes please,” Vera said before she brought out three cubes the size of Blake’s head, of course, filled with rune inscriptions, from her dimensional pouch and placed them on the ground in front of her.

She placed the tree runes in a triangle formation, one cube at the top and two cubes at the bottom.

.....

“Draw a delayed activation formation that I’ve taught you. And made it so that the runes would activate from the top one first, the bottom right, and lastly the bottom right.” Vera pointed to each cube as she told Blake what he should do.

“I will draw the auxiliary runes to make sure the cubes stay in place during the whole activation of the rune formation.”

Blake didn’t make much comment as he was currently in lecture mode. He only listened to Vera’s explanation and followed her instructions accordingly as he didn’t want to mess anything up.

With his photographic memory, Blake was able to memorize all kinds of runes, even when he had only seen them once.

The set of runes that Vera told him to draw on the three cubes filled with inscriptions was certainly a set of runes that he had only drawn once in his lecture time, but he could create it the first time perfectly without even practicing it and by just seeing how Vera did it, let alone now recreating it for the second time, Blake could do it perfectly without spending much time.

While Blake drew each rune around the three cubes and made sure they would activate in the right order, Vera was also drawing runes, circling around the three cubes and also the runes that Blake was currently drawing.

She was the one that was drawing those runes as it basically locked the three cubes in place with her space element, which Blake didn’t have.

There were several ways for Blake to also keep the cubes in place like casting his darkness tendrils to hold the three cubes, and using an earth spell to press onto the cubes from the sides, but Vera’s space lock was a surefire way to hold onto those cubes.

And considering what those three cubes would do, Vera would only be 100% confident that those three cubes would stay in place if she locked them in place with her spell as it would take a really strong spell to undo her space lock.

With Blake and Vera working together, they finished the two sets of runes in record time, and the 19 humanoid demons were currently about 500 meters away from reaching the ground.

There was still some time before they reached the ground, and falling from 500 meters would certainly take them more than just a couple of seconds.

So in that spare time, before the humanoid demons got too close to the ground, Vera quickly gave Blake his next instruction.

“Blake, your help was crucial in this part.”

Blake nodded in seriousness before replying, “I will do my best.”

Vera then instructed Blake to come over to the edge of the runes.

She had made a connecting rune between all the formations that she and Blake had made and the three cubes, and one only needed to send nether through one of the rune formations and the nether would automatically be transferred to the others through the connecting rune.

And the reason for her asking Blake to help her was because the amount of nether that was needed to activate the rune formation that she and Blake had worked together for was not minuscule.

She had spent quite a substantial amount of nether from herself to make it possible to send all scattered 19 humanoid demons from the ground to the sky a few kilometers above the ground.

She had her body’s capabilities limited from the actual amount of nether that she originally had, which was so high that she could even send the 19 humanoid demons to the sky again and again for hundreds of times without emptying her reserves, but with her current situation, the amount of nether she currently had was not enough to activate the rune formation properly.

“Blake, I need you to fill this rune formation with your nether. Fill it with enough nether that you could cast a second realm spell with that amount of nether.”

Blake then quickly nodded in understanding as he checked his nether reserve, which was certainly not full with him fleeing against the humanoid demons, but barely enough to power a second realm spell.

He would certainly feel the backlash from having his nether squeezed out until almost the last few drops, but hearing that it was necessary to activate the runes, Blake quickly did it without much thinking.

Besides, Vera was right beside him, and Blake didn’t know anywhere else that was safer than being beside her when he would be at his weakest.

With his hands right above the runes, Blake then began sending his nether to the rune formation that included 5 rune formations, 3 of them from the cubes, 2 of them that he and Vera had just drawn.
