110 Foolish Decisions

“What the f-” Blake’s words were once again cut off as he saw that actually more than just a single fireball was thrown towards him from the humanoid demons’ group.

More precisely, three fireballs were aimed toward him, and one had almost hit his wings that weren’t covered by the dark earth armor.

Blake didn’t know how strong those fireballs were.

But just the fact that it could char the dark earth armor told him that the power carried in those fireballs was not minuscule.

If his wings were hit by it, Blake wouldn’t want to find out what would happen to them as he had never gotten his wings injured, even when fighting the demonic beasts.

Blake could cover his wings with the dark earth armor, but he had tried it before and found out that he lost his ability to glide in the air if he did so.

So now, Blake was forced to constantly move around while gliding to dodge those fireballs from ever hitting his unprotected wings which might possibly bring him down.

And after getting used to dodging the fireballs, Blake could finally breathe a little and thought about his actions.

First, Blake racked his brain as to why he would suddenly be ambushed from all sides without him ever realizing the humanoid demons catching up to him.

.....

‘Wait? How could they even catch up without using the wings method?’

The wings method was what Blake calls the humanoid demons with deformed wings that used their wings to lighten their bodies and hence got incredible moving speed using that method.

But remembering how many spells and seeing the humanoid demons that came towards him, Blake couldn’t imagine all the demon mages had wings, and he did see with his own eyes that the humanoid demons that were running towards him earlier didn’t have any wings on their backs.

This means that those humanoid demons did really catch up to him despite not having the ability to move very fast.

Which also means that it wasn’t those humanoid demons having superior capabilities to catch up to him, it was his own blunder that made the humanoid demons able to catch him off-guard.

‘What did I do wrong?’ Blake then asked himself a question.

His mind then began recalling the events that had happened so far while still keeping in track of the fireballs that came in intervals from the forest beneath him.

Blake then remembered that everything was going fine, just like what he had planned up to the second that he decided that he wanted to make the greenish demon pay for what it did to him.

Precisely, interrupting his meal time.

Now that Blake had thought about it, his decision earlier was really a stupid one.

He even wondered how he made such a decision when he was still in his current circumstances, being chased by more than a dozen humanoid demons.

He simply thought that only a foolish creature would decide to waste his time doing such a thing.

The savoring of the taste of the soul part was justified in Blake’s head, but instead of doing it right there and then, Blake would have grabbed the soul first before running away, and later tasting the soul when he wasn’t being chased by the humanoid demons.

After he had successfully killed off the bulky humanoid demon, Blake knew that he should have quickly eaten the bulky humanoid demon’s soul and run away as fast as possible as the demihumans should not be able to catch up to him anymore unless they have another demon with a deformed wing.

He knew he should have done that.

But what he did instead was the complete opposite of that.

Not only did Blake actually waste his time searching for the greenish demon, but he also spends his time and effort, making sure the greenish demon died not in a painless way.

He even lets himself be trapped inside the greenish demon’s spell, albeit not dangerous, still wasted quite a substantial amount of time to break out from.

Blake didn’t know why he made those impulsive decisions.

But he did remember his own feelings when he decided to make those decisions.

It was pure anger and annoyance that filled his heart and soul that led him to make those decisions that he deemed as foolish.

At first, Blake wondered what could have caused him to produce such strong emotions within him as it had been years since he had felt such an overflowing of emotions in his body.

The level of anger that he felt was only one or two levels below of what he felt before he got transported to the demon realm for the first time.

But after dissecting his mind and emotions from earlier, Blake found out that those emotions came from the fact that he was prevented from eating a soul that he had already had his eyes on.

“But why do I get so angry?”

“Do I really love eating souls that much?”

Blake questioned himself again as he threw questions that he had never thought of throwing to himself before.

Just remembering how his thoughts were clouded with anger and how his heart was filled with annoyance earlier, Blake couldn’t even imagine himself having felt that much emotion when he was simply interrupted when he was about to eat a soul.

“How could I lose control of myself like that...”

It was still a question that remained unanswered for Blake.

But he would have to think about it later as he started to lose altitude and his body glided closer and closer to the top of the trees.

And as the distance between him and the ground where all the humanoid demons were chasing him was getting closer and closer, it became harder for him to anticipate and dodge the fireballs that were constantly coming towards him at certain intervals.

Blake knew that he had to come up with something soon as it was only a matter of time before he landed on the ground and met with the more than a dozen humanoid demons.

And not to say that the humanoid demons below him could actually run faster than his gliding speed as some of them had higher physique stat and were able to run fast, albeit not as fast as the deformed wings demons.

Blake began thinking of several ways that he might be able to save his life and survive the ordeal that was almost practically right in front of him.

But then when Blake had finally decided on a huge gamble to save his life, and when he was only about a couple of meters above the trees, he saw something coming at lightning speed, and it was coming from his front.

With the incredible speed that the thing was going, Blake couldn’t even make out what it was that was coming towards him, let alone dodge it.

And without Blake even being able to move the tips of his wings to try and dodge it, the unknown thing flew right into Blake’s head without any obstructions.
