109 A Death Trap

Feeling the bombardment of nether around him from all directions and all at the same time, Blake could only think of a single way for him to be able to somehow avoid whatever was coming towards him.

Blake then started moving his finger as he began drawing one of the most basic runes that he knew with as much speed as possible.

Blake had never been necessarily hastening his rune drawing speed.

He was just original fast at doing it, and the rune drawings that he had done in a second or half a second were almost all possible because Blake just knew all the different parts of the runes so well that he was able to create a path for his finger to finish drawing those runes as fast as possible.

However, now that he was really in a pinch, and his life was possibly on the line in his current circumstances, Blake really squeezed out all of his brain power and also his finger to draw a set of runes as fast as his body was capable of doing.

With Blake putting that much effort and also the runes were one of the simplest that he knew, Blake completed the runes almost in an instant as the runes had already flashed and disappeared in the next second.

But still, no matter how fast Blake drew his runes, the fact that the spells that had been thrown at him were already manifesting themselves, there was no way for Blake to have his spell that had just flashed and disappeared to manifest faster than those spells.

So right in front of his eyes, Blake saw with his own two eyes how the ground beneath his feet shook and the tip of a plant root came out of it, then from a few feet from the plant roots, the ground also shook as earth walls started coming out of the ground and they all sprouted diagonally inward, trapping Blake in the middle of them.

But not online those two spells that had manifested themselves.

.....

From the trees around him, the dormant roots that stayed planted on the ground started lifting their bodies up before shooting in Blake’s direction.

And it didn’t only happen from one direction, just from Blake’s front, there were already two different trees that suddenly had their roots became alive and flew towards him.

Blake didn’t have eyes on the back of his head, but just from the loud rustling that he heard, he knew that there were more than just two trees that had their roots flying towards him.

But so much could happen in a single second that those spells weren’t the only things that Blake saw in the time he waited for his own spell to manifest.

From the trees and bushes around him, Blake saw humanoid demons come out and ran straight toward him.

There were no more humanoid demons with deformed wings that could charge straight toward him in a matter of a split second.

But there were more humanoid demons with long claws on their limbs, huge bones on parts of their bodies, and other unique physical traits that they could use to fight and kill their enemies.

And Blake, who was standing right in the middle of them, who was also the target for all the spells and attacks that had suddenly appeared from all directions, seemingly all at the same time in just a one second timeframe, really felt in his very being what if felt like to be overwhelmed by his enemies.

If not for him having finished his spell almost in an instant, Blake would have really felt what was the true meaning of powerlessness and helplessness.

Fortunately, Blake did finish his earlier spell.

Before more roots were able to pop out from the ground and followed the first root in latching onto Blake’s body, before the earth walls were able to lock Blake’s body in place, before the tree roots were able to reach him, and before the physical humanoid demons were able to get to him, Blake’s spell had finally manifested itself.

And the spell that he chose to save himself from his current predicament was none other than a simple, basic spell, the earth wall spell.

But instead of putting up the earth wall to block the countless attacks that were coming towards him, Blake summoned the earth wall right beneath his feet.

The moment the ground right beneath his feet began to shake, Blake used his barely usable claw to cut the single plant root that had latched itself to his feet before quickly jumping up as powerful as he could, dodging the other plant roots that tried to keep him on the ground.

Blake’s jump was certainly not as powerful as he could jump higher than the trees or anything like that.

In fact, Blake’s jump could only reach about 5 meters high, enough to jump onto Robus’ back without the latter helping him get on top.

And with only that height, Blake could only dodge so many spells for so long before he went back to the ground and met with the plant roots, tree roots, diagonal earth walls, and also the physical humanoid demons.

However, that would only be the case if he didn’t have the extra boost that he had set up for himself.

The earth wall spell that Blake had cast and just was about to manifest, normally only had a height of 2 to 3 meters.

But with Blake overfilling the runes with nether, the height of the earth wall increased, proportional to the amount of nether that Blake gave it.

And for Blake, who even had a high quality of nether in his body to activate a second realm nether spell whilst in the first realm, overfilling a spell with his nether would result in something that would be considered unusual.

And ‘unusual’ in this case was none other than the supposed earth wall that was only 3 meters high becoming a giant earth wall that was at least 9 meters tall, even taller than Blake’s gorilla friend.

With the earth wall positioned right beneath his feet before he jumped, of course, when the earth wall sprouted from the ground up to the air, the earth wall would hit Blake’s feet when Blake was only 5 meters high up.

The speed that the earth wall came out of the ground was not slow either as it only took a full second for the 9 meters tall earth wall to fully manifest itself.

With such speed, of course, Blake, who was hit by the ascending earth wall under him, was thrown high up in the sky, up above the trees.

Blake had already prepared for the earth wall to hit his feet and shoot him upward ever since he jumped, and his wings were already spread open as he ran his nether through them.

And when he finally flew above the trees, Blake just glided in the air using his wings, ready to move as far away as possible from the death trap that had been set up for him.

“That was fucking dangerous!” Blake cursed outward.

“Glad that I manage to save myself at the last sec-”

Blake’s words were cut off before he even managed to finish two sentences as he suddenly felt something hit his stomach that was covered by the dark earth armor.

Blake turned his head downward to see whether he was just really imagining things.

But when he saw the charred mark on his dark earth armor and a fireball shot from the ground below him, flying straight to his body, he knew that he was certainly not imagining things.

“What the f-”
