Chapter 63: Sleeping Wolves (2)

“Wait for me here,” Blake said after he walked back towards the direction of his earth spike.

But suddenly his steps halted.

‘Do I really need to use the earth spike though?’ He thought as he paused his steps.

Blake then turned his head in the direction of the sleeping wolves and saw that their bodies were similar to his own, except they were covered by furs.

‘But that’s just fur, it’s not scales or an exoskeleton. Just that single spell alone should be enough for this...’ Blake convinced himself before walking back to where Robus was patiently waiting for him.

“R?” The huge gorilla asked when he saw Blake make a 180-degree turn and stood beside him.

“Yes, I don’t think I need the earth spike for this,” Blake replied as he walked to the side of the two parallel trees, making sure that he wasn’t in the way of the darkness tendrils and the setup that he made earlier.

.....

“Let’s do this, Robus.” Blake nodded at the huge gorilla.

Robus then started walking backward with his hand still holding the earth spike that had four darkness tendrils attached to it.

Blake would have stopped moving backward after taking two or even one step due to the four darkness tendrils having a tremendous forward pulling force.

If Blake were to force it, then he, himself would be pulled along the earth spike.

But Robus was clearly different from Blake, his huge body with unimaginably strong muscles built inside it was even able to easily handle the man-sized dense earth spike easily using only one hand.

Pulling the earth spike that was constantly being pulled the other way around by four darkness tendrils with his whole body was an easy feat for him, at least for the first six steps.

Further than that, Robus had to actually put real effort into keeping the earth spike from being pulled back by the darkness tendrils, and by the tenth step, Robus had already used most of his power, only capable of taking one last step before stopping and giving Blake a firm nod.

Seeing the ‘ready’ sign that they had agreed upon before, Blake returned the nod before he turned his head to look at the front, particularly at his target.

The huge wolf that had a silver streak across his body was peacefully sleeping with the other wolves, with it being right in the middle of the pack.

Blake needed to make a couple of adjustments to his position, but it wasn’t much and it only took him a couple of steps to the side to make sure that he had a straight line of his target, which was none other than the head of the huge wolf, without being impeded by anything.

“3...” Blake started counting loud enough that Robus could hear his voice, but small enough that the wolf wouldn’t hear them.

And at the same time, Blake started counting, his hands also started moving as he drew a complex set of runes at a steady pace.

“2...”

The runes that Blake drew were thrice more complicated than the usual runes that he drew to activate the everyday spells that he used to defeat his enemies while hunting through the forest.

And it would take him more time to draw those runes as even though he had perfectly memorized them, his fingers couldn’t physically move fast enough to complete a complex set of runes in only a second like his other spells.

But of course, with enough practice, Blake was able to shorten the time down to about 1 and a half seconds to complete those runes with his current capability.

“1...”

However, he didn’t draw as fast as he could and just drew the runes at a moderate speed and finished it in 3 seconds, about the same time he also finished counting.

“Go!”

And by the time he gave the go command, Blake had already finished drawing the set of runes as they stayed afloat in the air and started absorbing nether from Blake’s body as per usual when Blake cast a spell from the second demon realm.

Beside him, Robus made sure that he had aimed in the right direction, the direction of his target, which was also the huge wolf with the silver streak.

Before he then took the final last step backward and released the earth spike before it went out of control on its own.

With four darkness tendrils attached to the earth spike acting as the rubber part in a slingshot, the earth spike exploded forward with incredible speed as it flew towards the huge light brown wolf.

Robus can’t be too picky about the angle that he was attacking on and couldn’t simply change position as a setup is needed to shoot the earth spike and he could only aim at the huge wolf’s body instead of its head.

But with such a big earth spike and an even bigger momentum carried by the flying earth spike, even hitting the wolf’s body would also deal unignorable damage.

On the other hand, by the time the earth spike had been released, the runes that Blake drew had also finished sucking the nether out of Blake’s body as it materialized the second realm spell.

Just like before, a fist-sized ball of darkness appeared out of the floating runes before it suddenly disappeared in the next moment as it moved at a breakneck speed towards the huge wolf’s head.

A man-sized earth spike that carried enough momentum to probably destroy a boulder and a second realm darkness bullet spell that was strong enough to turn tree trunks to sawdust from tens of meters away were on their way towards one unfortunate entity, and that was the huge light brown wolf.

The result of such an overkill attack was clear.

The moment the second realm darkness bullet made contact with the huge wolf’s head, the wolf’ hadn’t even been able to feel anything before a third-quarter of its head had exploded into countless pieces, splattering the blood everywhere onto the pack of wolves.

And as if to say that it wasn’t enough, a man-sized earth spike caught up to the spell a split second later, dragging the wolf’s body slightly to the side before nailing its body into the ground.

The earth spike carried so much momentum that with how deep it had penetrated through the ground, the huge wolf’s body won’t be going anywhere without Robus pulling out the earth spike first.

Of course, with those two attacks, the next moment, a soul orb had already floated above the wolf’s body, right above the earth spike, making the earth spike look like a pedestal to present the possible delicious soul to a certain humanoid demon that had craved it for so long.

“Rrr...”

“Yes, Robus, I think we went overboard a little with that attack...” Blake shook his head as he saw the other wolves start waking up all at once the moment the huge wolf’s blood was splattered onto their bodies.
