Chapter 74 Traumatizing People While AFK?!

In the Henderson's courtyard, discussions were plenty.

"W-What?! The Young Lady's going to the Magic Academy?!"

"Psst... Yes! I heard she insisted on going for some reason. Apparently, the Patriarch was against it initially, but with her newfound status, he relented in the end."

"Still, I'm worried for the young Lady. How will she fare away from home? That place is even more cutthroat than the Dawn's Commerce Union... Also, why leave now?!"

The more the servants gossiped, the more Aisha felt like hiding in a hole. Why? That's what she bloody wanted to know! Luckily, her father had planned an escort for them.

A dozen of Adventurers were already crowding around their carriage, one easily recognizable by the shining "Henderson Estate's Property" lettering covering it.

"I'll be counting on you for this journey!" She nodded at the Adventurers, the latter already eying the surroundings warily in case of danger. They took this as seriously as they should!

But as she actually went inside the carriage....

"Yo!" Jack lazily greeted her, comfortably laying on a bed of fluffy foxes, their fur brushing against his back, and a pile of snacks beside him.

It was such a clash compared to the wariness outside! She was a bundle of nerves, yet he was so relaxed?! She almost wondered if she had boarded the wrong carriage! She scowled.

"Y-You... Take this seriously, will you?! This is a BIG deal! Do you know how dangerous heading outside can be? There's no time for playing! We'll need to--"

But before she could finish her train of thought, they had already begun moving, Jack watching the scenery change through the magical one-way windows.

One had to admit that this carriage was AMAZING! It was sound-proof, privacy-assured, cozy, and it even included soft lighting with magical lamps. This was definitely First-Class!

Not only was the ride sweet, but they were even let through the Gates without even a second look. Jack suddenly felt like a VIP, growing even more pleased.

"Ah, such a nice day for traveling!" Jack sighed.

But merely instants afterward, as if he had jinxed them, shouts came from the front! "Ambush! Stop the carriage!" The Adventurers cried out, some already despairing.

A cloaked figure intently stared at their carriage in the middle of the road, with tons of large boxes next to it. The escort leader instantly turned grim as he reported:

"Young Lady, someone's blocking the road! As for those strange boxes, there's a 99% chance they're Magical Incendiary Bombs! We're better off staying far away! We'll send people to--"

This wasn't the first time the Mad Dragons, their escort's party, encountered such a thing. The light of wisdom and the wariness that came with experience glowed in their eyes.

But just as they were ready to deal with the situation...

"No need. Keep going, straight ahead!"

A grave authoritative voice came from inside the carriage... WHO?! There wasn't supposed to be anyone but the Young Lady on the carriage! Had they been duped?!

Many were already frowning at the order. Charge into an obvious ambush? This didn't make any sense whatsoever! They turned toward their leader, awaiting instructions.

But, the latter's face had long turned ashen:

1. He had personally checked the carriage earlier. It had been empty.

2. He had been watching it all along ever since.

3. No one had gotten on.

D-Did this mean that they had been hijacked already?! Had a super-expert somehow reached their protection target?! What the fuck was happening?!

Little did the poor man know that the Flame Lord herself had sneakily dropped Jack off. At this moment, the leader was thus in a state of utter confusion.

"What are you waiting for? Let's go!" Jack reiterated.

"Y-Yes, Sir! Right away, Sir!" As the leader said, his troops almost doubted their earing. Sir? Their leader stuttering? Just who was this guy inside for him to act like that?!

That's when the atmosphere of the Caravan turned odd.

The Adventurers sweated bullets, held their breaths, forced themselves to put one foot before the other, and gazed at the "ambush" with recalcitrance.

But as they got closer, they suddenly felt dumb... Instead of a great evil, it was a youthful young woman with LOTS of luggage.

"Hey! Were you really going to leave without me?! If you're going to the Academy, I might as well tag along. That place's overwhelming with potential test subjects!" Lizzy beamed.

That's when the authoritative voice resounded once more, playful this time.

"I believe they're called students, Lizzy. Still, what about your Emporium? You won't simply leave it empty, right?" Jack questioned.

"Of course not! The helpers you sent me will man it... eh, fox it! Don't worry; they can do that much. I've taught them well!" She reassured.

"Fine. Join if you will."

As soon as he agreed, she happily started hauling her luggage aboard. Yet, the more she did, the stranger the escort's leader's expression became as he pictured the pecking order.

Mysterious voice> Young Lady + Alchemist Newcomer?

No, perhaps it was even crazier than this! What if the mysterious being ranked even higher than the Henderson's Patriarch? What if he was their Family's trump card?! Gasp! This was INSANE... but plausible!

He was dying to peek inside, yet he felt this could be a world-ending mistake. What if the expert took offense to it? What if the expert's existence was supposed to be a secret?!

With merely a few words, Jack had managed to traumatize their escorts unknowingly. Yet, even he didn't pay it too much attention. After all, he was far too busy!

As soon as they had resumed their travels, he had sent his foxes on hunts! They'd clear the road and wipe the monsters simultaneously, generating tons of XP for him in the process!

[Your Fox Slayed An Enemy! +28 XP!]

[Your Fox Slayed An Enemy! +34 XP!]

[Your Fox Slayed An Enemy! +33 XP!]

[Your--....]

The more notifications appeared, the happier Jack felt. They were doing a Monster MASSACRE!

At this point, he wasn't sure what kind of monsters they were killing, but they sure were going strong! Heck, he already had a pile of XP on his status screen!

What should he spend it on this time?

MAGIC for his Spectral Daggers and Evil Body Duration? Perhaps his Fate Vision? But as he gazed at a specific line, his eyes stayed glued to it.

"Assign XP to Master of the Foxes!" Jack chimed in.

[Congratulations! Unlocked New Title Abilities!]

[You've Learned Commands! Show Details?]

"YES! Of course!"
