Chapter 63 Obtaining TREASURE!

"Woo!" (Victory! Sweet Victory!)

Had the fox not been eyed by four very angry humans, it would have long done a victory dance on the spot. But, since it couldn't, it settled with a victory "woo"!

But, just as it was prepared to rush away, the compromised assassin stepped forward. In the pit of despair, he had actually devised a genius idea!

"Fox, wait a bit! Hear me out, will you?"

He stepped forward, hands high up in the air, even gesturing to the others near him to step back. Could he catch that fox? Nope! But what if he could negotiate with it?!

"Hear me out, little one. You've been tasked with recording the Masquerade, right? That's a heavy responsibility and quite the honor, isn't it?"

The others nearby couldn't help but frown. What was this guy doing? Why was he licking the boots of a fox? He even stopped in place, making sure not to spook the creature.

"Woo!" (Hum? What?...) The latter was getting as proud as confused. Still, it didn't relax its vigilance for one second, even as it listened to the man.

"Hear me out. It's an established fact that recording someone without their consent is a big no-no. But even then, you have to do your job, right? So what I propose instead is...."

As he explained his proposition, the assassin used the simplest words, as if talking to a five-year-old. Simply put, he wanted to buy the recording directly from the fox!

"Think of it, wouldn't your Master prefer Treasure rather than a few pictures? They're not even that valuable. It's just that we humans are really shy, you know...."

The more he talked, and the more baffled the fox became, the concept of "shame" being especially ludicrous to it. At first, it didn't care one bit, but then it thought of something:

'Woo!' (Wait, Master likes Treasure, right?)

At this moment, it remembered its Master raiding the Henderson's Treasury and him trying to access the Flame Mansion's resources. Treasure... treasure was GREAT!

Treasure? --> Happy Master! --> Tons of headpats!

This was the best deal ever!-- Ah, but it had to be careful: the Treasure received had to have greater value than the recordings, only then would Master really be pleased.

"Woo!" (Fine! Give the Treasure out!)

The fox actually wanted to negotiate?! The Water Lord's Nephew suddenly felt like crying. If only he had known that he could buy this thing, he wouldn't have bothered to give chase!

"How about this? It's extremely delicious; I'm sure you'll love it!" The assassin was already getting tons of food out. It looked and smelled so heavenly, the fox already drooling.

It approached slightly, feeling like it was in Heaven, eyes already glazed from the vision of wonder.

It could get so much food with such a tiny recording bead?! Who knew there were things so great in this world? But, just as it was about to take another step, it froze. No! TREASURE!

It stopped, then bit its tongue hard, the pain waking it from its hypnotized state. Then it shot an angry look at the assassin.

"Woo!" (How dare you try and trick me!)

Trick? What trick? It had just been regular food. Still, the assassin regained his bearings as he offered more things: coins, jewelry, and a shitload of weapons.

He'd go... "How about this?" Repeatedly as he kept taking things out.

But, the more he did the more shocked the youngster by his side became. Did this brother have a spacial ring?! Not even: he was just a god at hiding stuff in his clothes!

He was akin to Earth's magicians. It wasn't real magic... but perhaps that made it even more impressive! By now, there was a mountain of loot before the assassin, and yet...

"Woo!" (This doesn't look that valuable?)

The fox kept scoffing at everything taken out all with an air of superiority. Yet, inwardly, it was freaking out: it had no clue what was valuable or not!

The fox often almost accepted, but then it'd remember its Master's words: "If something is valuable, it's usually well-hidden." This rendered it even more confused!

Its fox brain was about to overheat! Was the mountain of loot valuable because it had been hidden in the man's clothes before? Or was it not valuable because he had revealed it all?

Sigh... it was such a big mountain too!

"That's all I have. Let's make a deal, shall we? What do you say, little fox?" The assassin offered again, only for the fox to seem even more puzzled. One last push!

"Ah, forget it. I was giving your Master face as a Dawn Lord, but deal's off. Give her the recording, and I'll take my complaints with her!" The assassin exaggeratedly scoffed.

The fox instantly panicked. Complaints?! This was bad! It didn't want to bring shame to its Master. It had to accept the deal before--  its thoughts became jumbled.

Wait, Dawn Lord? This wasn't its Master! This was enough to bring it back to its senses, just in time to see the over-the-top motion of its interlocutor.

That's when its sharp fox eyes noticed something. Around the man's neck was an intricate-looking necklace... TREASURE?! That's when all doubt left it.

"Woo!" (Shiny Treasure!)

The fox pointed with its tiny paw, the assassin's face turning purple. How had the creature even noticed the... Fuck, he had scoffed so hard that it had shown.

"Woo!" (I want this too! Then it's a deal!)

As soon as the fox saw the man's grimace, it knew it had picked correctly. It happily glanced at the assassin. This thing was definitely worth more than the recordings!

The latter seemed to hesitate for an eternity until...

"Brother, please. Just give it the necklace. I'll owe you one!" The youngster chimed in, sending the man a begging look, not knowing the assassin's inner thoughts.

'Bitch, please. I'm here to assassinate you! Owe me one, my ass!' Goddammit! Yet, he really had to get rid of the recordings, even if it cost him his life-saving medallion.

"F-fine, let's trade...."

The assassin reluctantly agreed, proceeding with the exchange.

He threw the item, and the fox threw back the pearl. But now that the little one and the youngster had lost all evidence on him, it was time for REVENGE!

A dangerous light gleamed in the assassin's eyes and--

"Tch-- So that's where you guys were? Stop playing, and do your waiter jobs! I want more booze!" A towering man with rock-solid muscles interrupted.

T-The Earth Lord?! How were they supposed to rob and murder now?! What kind of timing was this?! A certain assassin was already crying...
